Chapter 3: The trail game

Levon looked at the string of texts as they rolled across his line of sight.

[Welcome everyone to the God’s Descent tutorial.] A voice rang out across everyone’s system space.

But it was a little too late, as many humans had already fallen dead on the battlefield.

Most humans had carried guns and a few bullets from earth, not thinking much of it. Now appearing in the war zone, most were stunned; they impulsively fired a lot of inaccurate shots, ran out of bullets, and were now being subdued.

[The fight is in three parts; this is the first phase. After all the monsters are defeated, the 5-minute timer is paused and a safe zone appears for a few minutes before the next phase begins. In this phase of the competition, there are only three phases.]

Levon spotted another mob of goblins and rushed in immediately; every goblin had its details displayed above its forehead.

There was an option in the system settings to turn it off, but Levon preferred to at least know the capacity of what he was dealing with.

[Normal Goblin

Combat Strength: 23

Attributes: very effective in close one-on-one combat; some may appear carrying weapons, but it does not affect their combat strength.]

Levon charged at the mob from behind, stabbing his knife cleanly into the neck of the first creature.

Gaining the attention of the remaining three, Levon quickly but efficiently yanked the knife out of the goblin’s neck.

The next goblin swung its axe, aiming for Levon’s neck with tremendous force while another goblin tried circling around him.

But Levon was not rattled; he raised his knife in quick succession and stopped the swing of the goblin, matching its strength evenly.

Without wasting a second, Levon drove his other knife cleanly into the head of the goblin directly behind him.

Levon then kicked the last goblin off him.

The goblin crashed hard onto the floor, dropping its axe beside Levon. Levon walked over to where the goblin lay and, using its own axe, hacked it down cleanly.

Levon sensed footsteps and, without hesitation, swung the axe with full force to his right, hacking down yet another goblin whose thick blood splattered all over him as its head fell cleanly to the floor.

By the time the first wave was finished, Levon was already sure he had met the mark for the survival zone.

A white wall immediately encircled the area, locking the remaining monsters out. Levon took a deep breath; as he was about to pull up his system space to confirm his guess, he caught a troll from the corner of his eye.

He immediately rushed toward it head-on. Before it could react, Levon had already driven a deep cut into its chest, dropping it cleanly without much trouble.

Levon turned around to see a few others trying to finish off the last creatures within the circle.

Everywhere was still in chaos despite being in a safe zone; some people had lost parts of their bodies, and others kept running around the circle looking for an escape route.

Those who were too unfortunate lay on the floor, dead and gone. The ground was covered with dead humans; despite all creatures dissolving upon being killed, the floor was still pooling with blood and bodies that were constantly being stepped on, crushing them into clumps of flesh and blood.

"Help me, somebody, please help me. It won’t come off. Why?" a voice pierced through the noise. A boy had a large leech latched onto him, draining his blood; his right arm had already been dried out by its aggressive sucking.

[Mutated Leech — Level 4

Combat Power: 89

Info: a poisonous leech that sneaks up on its prey and feasts on its blood once latched onto the body. Its saliva is also poisonous, infecting its victims immediately.]

Levon looked on without a word, his face expressionless. Suddenly someone ran to the young man in a bid to save his life, using his sword and hands to try to pry the leech off his body.

But it just wouldn’t budge. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

Levon smiled to himself as he held his knife loosely, as if waiting for something to happen.

Soon the young man lost consciousness and collapsed, the poison eating deep into him, and the man trying to save him suddenly fell as well.

By now most of the other creatures were dead, and a small crowd had gathered wondering what was going on.

Levon, noticing both men were dead, immediately moved toward the leech, which was already crawling away from the bodies.

Without any warning, Levon stabbed his knife down into it; the leech was clearly very weak when it wasn’t attached to a body. freēwēbnovel.com

The body burst and exploded immediately, releasing the large amount of blood it had just ingested.

Squishhhhhhh.

The body fluid splattered onto the legs of almost everyone nearby.

Levon sighed as he cleaned his weapon, unbothered by the stares around him.

As soon as he was done, he quickly slipped away from the crowd.

The eyes on him were intense, but there was really nothing he could have done in that situation; the leech was already on the man’s body, and getting it off was nearly impossible without some kind of antipoison.

Levon quickly found a quiet spot where he could check his system stats before the second wave began. He was almost certain he had already hit level 3, but he couldn’t be too sure, he thought as he pulled up his system interface.
