Chapter 27: Post dungeon emotions

Aria stared at the broken piece of sword on the floor and couldn’t help but look back at the bear vampire with pure rage. The bloodlust hadn’t left her eyes even slightly, but deep down she knew it was over.

She had failed the Shadow Monarch, and she knew it.

It felt like it had been a mistake for him to consider her a worthy friend in the first place.

Aria’s fist clenched. She knew her arrows were already useless, and there was nothing a quarter of a broken blade could do.

But still, Aria pushed through every last shred of resistance she had left, her HP already running dangerously low.

She just couldn’t stop herself.

Just as the bear lunged straight for her to deliver the finishing blow, its head simply fell from its shoulders.

Aria spun around in shock. She hadn’t even noticed when Levon had arrived.

[You have killed a mutated bear vampire. +60 exp. +1 poison hibiscus.]

Aria’s hands trembled, her face turning slightly red.

What would he think when he saw that she could barely handle two mutated vampire beasts on her own?

"Interesting, so tell me where...." before the voice could even finish, Levon had already sprinted to the exact location it was coming from and grabbed the being by the throat.

The Staff of the Blood God allowed him to sense bloodlust from anywhere, and stealth came as an added bonus.

The moment Levon had entered the room and cut down the vampire bear, he immediately sensed a strong concentration of bloodlust radiating from a specific spot. So without any warning he had sprinted straight to it and seized the being by the neck.

"No, I’m sorry, but you can’t restrain me," the Vampire King said almost instantly, slipping free from Levon’s grip. A loud cry rang out from the other side of the room.

The Vampire King had slashed Aria across the neck with its sharp claws.

Levon didn’t waste another second. He immediately rushed at the Vampire King and drove a deep cut straight across its chest.

"Show yourself, now," Levon spoke firmly right after the slash, and the Vampire King complied, the fear debuff already working on it.

"Look, I’ve shown myself so we can talk this through. You have immense potential, why not consider...." Levon slowly walked straight toward the creature, and even before it could finish speaking he sliced its neck clean from its shoulders.

A complete beheading.

[Congratulations, you have just beheaded the Vampire King. +200 exp. +1 poison hibiscus.] frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

[Congratulations, you have completely cleared an A-rank dungeon.

Task one: Gain the artifact of the Blood God. Complete.

Task two: Kill the Vampire King. Complete.

You have each been awarded one epic treasure chest and one hundred system stones.]

Immediately the dungeon began to collapse.

Normally after clearing a dungeon it would either collapse right away or eject the players out entirely. But it appeared there would be no ejection here.

Levon immediately looked over at Aria, who was still lying on the dungeon floor, and without hesitation he scooped her up into his arms, resting her head gently against his shoulder as he ran straight for the exit.

Soon Levon was fully out as the dungeon collapsed completely behind him.

He made his way to a tree nearby and carefully rested Aria’s body across his lap. He immediately pulled up his storage space.

Her HP was dangerously low. If he didn’t act fast, he might end up losing her entirely.

But what he was about to attempt had a low chance of success. Ingesting a stone, crystal, or potion directly into another person’s body rarely worked.

Still, Levon had an idea that might just tip the odds.

What if he fed her mechanical stones at the same time?

It sounded incredibly risky, but if mechanical stones helped with fusions, then they should logically be able to help buffer this too.

Thinking back to his past life, he had never actually tried ingesting a mechanical stone himself, and no one he had known had ever done it either.

But at this point he didn’t really have a choice. Still, he also couldn’t just gamble recklessly and assume it would work, because if it failed he could end up running out of materials entirely.

Without wasting any more time, Levon began the ingestion process.

[Ingestion of one Power-Up Potion into Aria has failed.]

"Oh no," Levon thought out loud. But he had no real option. He tried again, this time feeding 4 mechanical stones in alongside the potion.

[Ingestion of one Power-Up Potion into Aria was successful.]

Levon immediately let out a long breath of relief as the familiar white glow that came with successful ingestion spread across her body.

He watched quietly as the potion did its work, her HP gradually climbing back up until it was fully restored.

After a short while Aria finally opened her eyes, her injuries healing themselves as the Power-Up Potion continued doing its job.

"Wow, he actually stuck his claws through my neck," Aria said weakly as she opened her eyes, not yet fully aware that she was still resting on Levon.

"Don’t worry, you’re fine now. It’s alright. You did well," Levon said as he gently patted her head.

Almost immediately Aria regained her full senses and jolted upright, shifting off Levon’s lap and sitting beside him instead. Her face turned red instantly.

"Is something the matter?" Levon asked calmly as he stood up.

Aria hesitated for a moment before speaking. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"I think in the long run I would be a burden to you. Because of me we nearly lost the dungeon mission. I’m nowhere near your level of strength and I feel like I’m slowing you down," Aria said, pausing slightly.

"I slowed you down. I’m sure you could have soloed that dungeon completely on your own without needing my help at all," Aria added, her face still flushed as guilt washed over her at the thought of how Levon must be seeing her now.

Not only had he completed both missions by himself, he had also ended up saving her on top of it all.
