Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Creation of the first microbes.
The countdown for the opening of the world finally ended.
Roman floated before the sun, staring at it with quiet interest as the universal notification made its presence known with a soft chime.
[Universal Notification!]
[The Countless Worlds of Universe 07 have opened.]
[For a better gaming experience, the universal timeline has been adjusted. Each God hour will be counted as one billion planetary years.]
[This acceleration is only available until the emergence of the first intelligent species on each world.]
[During this period, Gods may synchronise their consciousness with their world if they wish — or maintain normal perception if they prefer.]
[The Transaction Space is now open for Universe 07.]
[Explore it or discard it. The choice lies with you. Good luck with your great endeavour.]
Roman read through the notifications thoroughly.
"If one God hour equals a billion planetary years," he muttered, "then the appearance of the first microbe and the emergence of the first intelligent species would take roughly 4.5 to 5 God hours — depending on the world’s geographical texture and environment."
"An excellent move by the developers," he hummed, swiping away the notifications. "I don’t believe anyone who isn’t me would enjoy watching a microbe replicate itself for billions of years."
He clicked on the [Transaction Space].
There were two prominent options — [System Transaction] and [Trading Platform].
He decided to explore the [System Transaction] first.
Within this section, two items were projected onto the blue interface — one basic, one special, sitting side by side.
[Item Name: Basic Knowledge of Life]
[Grade: E]
[Description: Grants the user foundational understanding of biological chemistry, evolutionary pathways, and the conditions required for life to emerge and sustain itself across varying planetary environments.]
[Note: Knowledge adapts to the biological possibilities of the target world.]
[Cost: 5 Karma Points]
It was a necessary item for every God.
However, it was completely useless to someone like Roman, who had no world to cultivate or sow microbes in.
He disregarded it and clicked on the special item beside it.
[Item Name: Pseudonym]
[Grade: Special]
[Description: Generates a complete false identity for the user upon descent — name, biological origin, and cultural background tailored seamlessly to the target world’s existing civilisation. The user’s divine signature remains undetectable for the duration of the descent.]
[Note: One use per descent. Identity is permanent until death.]
[Cost: 5 Karma Points]
"What an interesting item — it’s compatible with my God Talent."
He muttered and immediately pressed the buy button.
[Confirm purchase of Pseudonym?]
[Current Karma: 10 → Remaining Karma: 5]
"Confirm."
[The purchased item: Pseudonym has been attached to your soul and will automatically activate upon each descent.]
Roman nodded with quiet satisfaction and moved on to the [Trading Platform].
There was nothing to trade here yet.
He skipped the blank interface and opened the chat panel instead.
"Thanks, Nox, for helping me out with my first microbe!"
"Such profound knowledge, God Nox. I am forever indebted to you."
"Hey — can anyone help me with my desert world? I used Basic Knowledge of Life, but I’m still confused about how to extract silicon from sand for the silica lifeform formula."
"Guys. My planet is covered in ice. Do I have to do anything, or will it melt on its own?"
Tripido: "You can just use your faith points to increase the environmental heat."*
"I was thinking the same thing."
Volcano: "Guys, my world is filled with lava. Do I cool it with faith points or something?"*
Nox: "No, brother — you’d just waste your faith points. GM me. I can help."*
Volcano: "Already GMed you!"*
Random God: "Nox! Can I GM you as well? I don’t know what to do with my planet, which is filled with acidic substances!"
Nox: "The pleasure is mine, brother."
The chat was entirely about how Nox was baiting them, and Roman knew for a fact that Nox was requesting faith points for his services.
"Impatient bunch. Do they not see how Nox is already getting ahead of everyone?"
Roman sighed quietly.
He had entertained a similar idea — taking control of the chat and selling his own knowledge. However, he didn’t act on it because of his lack of a world and the uniquely crafted talent he possessed.
Nox could use everything at his disposal because of his SS-grade talent, unlike Roman, who would be exposed if he revealed his.
"I’ll let him have his fun for now."
Roman muttered, amused, as he closed the interface and opened the World Radar.
Only one red dot surfaced on the radar.
"So this is the world where I can descend?"
He clicked the red dot, and it expanded before him.
[World Description: A world filled with lava, devoid of any land or structure.]
[Assigned God: Volcano]
"It’s Volcano’s world."
As a God, his perception immediately grasped the world’s nature — as though he could sense every corner of it at once.
There was no particular reason to linger.
He stayed and watched anyway.
---
Volcano: "Thank you, brother Nox, for the profound knowledge you have bestowed upon me."
Nox: "No need to thank me. I am simply helping my fellow Gods. Let us work together to make Universe 07 stronger and richer than Universe 01."
Volcano: "Of course, bro! And I have already sent the three faith points as promised."*
With that, Volcano closed the interface.
’What a nice guy! Sharing such knowledge for only three faith points.’
Volcano thought genuinely.
’I saved up two faith points instead of wasting them on buying an E-grade item! Way to go, Volcano! A good start.’
As the excitement faded, he focused his consciousness on his volcanic world, searching for extreme heat zones as Nox had advised.
As his consciousness merged with the world, he found silicon dioxide locked inside the lava — silicon bonded to oxygen.
Useless in that form.
Using a faith point, Volcano nudged the temperature in three specific zones to the threshold where hydrogen sulfide gas rising from the vents would react with the silicon dioxide on contact — stealing the oxygen, forming water vapour that vented into the sky while leaving raw silicon cooling at the lava’s edge.
Then, using another faith point, he guided the free silicon toward a depression in the cooling lava where liquid sulfur had pooled — the temperature sitting in the narrow range where sulfur remained liquid.
Slow.
Viscous.
The closest thing this world had to a primordial ocean.
Silicon dissolved into it. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Chains began forming.
Growing longer.
Breaking apart.
Forming again.
Next, using his third faith point, Volcano widened a phosphorus-rich fissure beneath the pool just enough for mineral water to seep upward.
Phosphorus entered the medium and immediately began bridging the silicon chains — stabilising their structure instead of letting them collapse.
The chains held.
Grew.
A stabilised silicon chain — long and rigid enough — folded back onto itself at its phosphorus hinge points while its two ends met, forming a loop.
An inside separated from the outside by a continuous silicon polymer boundary.
The first wall between self and environment that had ever existed on this world.
Inside the loop, hydrogen sulfide began reacting with silicon compounds — releasing energy and driving the structure to maintain itself against the liquid sulfur trying to dissolve it.
It was consuming.
Processing.
Maintaining.
As if it were alive.
Volcano spent his fourth faith point stabilising the closure at the critical moment before thermal turbulence tore the ends apart.
The microbe grew until its interior became too crowded.
Efficiency dropped.
It reached a threshold—
And divided.
One loop became two.
Each with its own interior.
Each consuming hydrogen sulfide independently.
Volcano spent his fifth faith point smoothing the geometry of the split — ensuring both daughter structures closed properly and survived.
Two microbes where previously there had only been one.
’It’s done!’
Volcano sighed, wiping away the beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
’Guiding life is truly exhausting!’
Even so, Volcano couldn’t help but puff out his chest in pride.
His lava-filled world now had two lifeforms — his own creation.
Never in a billion years had Volcano thought something like this was possible.
"Oh! What a time to live in! Thank you, developers, for bringing this game into my era!"
The next second, a notification appeared before him.
[Congratulations for Your First Creation!] ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
[Name your species!]
Volcano stared at it for a few seconds before thinking deeply.
"Silicari."
[Confirm the name ’Silicari’ for your emergent species?]
[Note: This name cannot be changed. It will be etched into the very essence of the species. Consciously or unconsciously, they will revere it as their identity.]
"Confirm."
[The name ’Silicari’ has been recorded.]
[Good luck, lesser God, in your great endeavour.]
The notifications faded, and Volcano immediately immersed his consciousness back into the world, observing the microbes — his emergent Silicari species.
"I’ll groom you guys into a great species!"
He puffed his chest proudly.
"So replicate faster!"
Volcano pulled back his consciousness and muttered:
"Status."
[GOD NAME: Volcano]
[BASE PLANET: Volcan]
[BASE PLANET LIFEFORMS: 0]
[OCCUPIED PLANETS: 0]
[DIVINITY LEVEL: 1]
[TALENT: Meteor Smash — B Grade]
[FAITH POINTS: 7]
He lingered on the interface a little longer.
The numbers might seem small for now, but even so, it was a great start.
He closed the interface and intended to boast about it in the Universal Chat.
However—
Before he could do that, another interface suddenly appeared.
One that shook Volcano to his core.
[A new type of species has emerged in the World Volcan.]
