Chapter 30: Chapter 30: God’s whisper.
"Nigairo?" (Marriage?)
"A sacred union between two Magnaris?"
The elders and the gathered Magnaris quietly repeated the unfamiliar word beneath their breaths, tasting its pronunciation as though trying to grasp its meaning. It wasn’t the first time Gre Ka Go had introduced a concept unknown to their people. Over the years, he had taught them countless ideas their ancestors had never known. Rather than confusion, curiosity filled their eyes. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Lord Tribal Chief," one of the elders asked respectfully, "what is this Nigairo you speak of?"
Roman allowed his gaze to drift across the assembled tribe before answering.
"A tribe cannot stand upon strength alone. It must also stand upon trust."
His calm voice carried across the village square.
"When a male and a female choose one another as mates, they naturally begin to spend more time together than with anyone else. They hunt together, build together, and one day they may even raise children together. But if no law governs that bond, conflict becomes inevitable."
His gaze shifted toward Gre Ka So and the two females.
"Much like the conflict we are witnessing today. If every dispute like this is left unresolved, jealousy will give rise to resentment, resentment will fester into hatred, and hatred will one day divide the tribe itself."
A brief silence settled over the gathering before Roman continued.
"That is why I propose the institution I have named Nigairo. It is a vow made before the tribe—a promise between two Magnaris that, from that day onward, they shall belong only to one another. No other may claim them, nor may either seek another while that vow remains unbroken."
His eyes slowly swept across every Magnari present.
"Those who honor their Nigairo strengthen not only the trust between themselves and their partner, but also the unity of the entire tribe. It shall become a sacred duty of every Magnari. And those who betray that vow shall answer before the Elder Council, for they will have broken not merely a promise between two hearts, but one of the very laws that safeguards the tribe itself."
The Magnaris immediately broke into hushed discussions among themselves. The female Magnaris, in particular, looked visibly delighted by the proposal, many of them nodding in agreement as they imagined a future where no one could steal away the mate they had chosen. The male Magnaris, however, wore noticeably grimmer expressions.
"If... if this is truly implemented..."
"...then we won’t have to worry about someone taking our mating partner..."
"Y-You’re right. I’ve always feared something like that could happen."
"As expected of Lord Tribal Chief..."
Words of admiration quietly spread throughout the gathering.
Even the members of the Elder Council exchanged approving glances. To them, Nigairo wasn’t merely a new word—it was a solution, a law capable of preventing countless future disputes before they could ever take root.
Yet their satisfaction was soon replaced by confusion.
Roman’s expression remained unusually distant.
Instead of relief, he looked like someone still searching for a missing piece.
One of the elders finally stepped forward.
"Lord Tribal Chief," he said respectfully, "Nigairo is a wise institution. If we establish it and faithfully uphold it, conflicts such as today’s should never arise again."
He hesitated before asking,
"...Then why do you still seem troubled?"
Roman blinked before letting out a quiet sigh.
"My apologies. I was merely considering how Nigairo should be established."
His gaze slowly swept across the assembled Magnaris once more.
"A vow carries little meaning if anyone may simply claim to have made it. If Nigairo is to become one of our tribe’s laws, then it must be witnessed. It must be acknowledged. And above all, it must be protected."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"That requires a ritual—a ritual witnessed by every Magnari. The one who presides over that vow must also be someone every member of the tribe respects and trusts, someone whose authority is recognized by all and whose judgment none would dare challenge, regardless of the offender’s strength."
Silence settled over the square once again.
Every pair of eyes slowly turned toward Roman.
"If we truly need someone to witness such a vow..." one of the elders began hesitantly, exchanging glances with the others, "...wouldn’t that person be you, Lord Tribal Chief?"
The remaining elders slowly nodded.
"There is no one among the Magnaris wiser than you."
"Nor anyone stronger."
"You united our tribes, taught us our words, and guided us through every hardship."
"If there is anyone worthy of overseeing Nigairo..."
"...it can only be you."
The surrounding Magnaris murmured their agreement.
Roman merely let out a quiet chuckle.
"I see..."
His gaze drifted across the assembled tribe before a faint smile appeared on his lips.
"Then I shall not answer immediately. I’ll give all of you a few days. Think carefully. If, after those days have passed, you still arrive at the same conclusion..."
He allowed his words to linger for a moment.
"...then we shall discuss it again."
With those words, Roman turned and calmly made his way toward the Tribal Chief’s quarters, leaving behind a village already immersed in discussion as the Magnaris eagerly debated the future of Nigairo—and whether the one who had conceived it should also become the one to preside over it.

"Did he just... come up with marriage on the spot while trying to defuse a dispute within his tribe? The very tribe he himself created?"
Volcano gasped as he watched the unfolding drama upon the rocky lands of his world.
He had always known Gre Ka Go would become a valuable asset because of his extraordinary intelligence. However, he had never imagined that a first-generation intelligent Magnari could advance their species to this extent.
From Volcano’s perspective, only fifteen hours had passed since his last playthrough. To witness his species evolve from primitive tribal life to establishing the institution of marriage in such a short span of time felt utterly impossible.
"It should have taken days... perhaps even months for something like this to develop naturally, even with a god’s intervention... This is revolutionary."
He murmured to himself, his earlier decision over skipping a hundred planetary years already fading into the background as his consciousness continued following Gre Ka Go.
The Magnari entered the largest house in the settlement and quietly fell into thought. Moments later, a female Magnari whom Volcano found oddly familiar slipped inside and gently wrapped her arms around him from behind. The two seemed far more intimate than Volcano had expected.
Upon taking a closer look, recognition finally dawned on him.
"It’s that Gre Ka Chu girl... the one who chose Gre Ka Go over me during my last playthrough."
A faint blush crept onto his face.
"She certainly has grown into quite the beauty..."
He awkwardly cleared his throat before continuing to watch.
"Nigairo is such a beautiful institution you’ve introduced to us, Gre Ka Go," Gre Ka Chu whispered as she deliberately pressed herself against his back, wrapping her tail around his. "The thought of being eternally bound to your chosen mate... it’s beautiful."
A smile slowly spread across her lips.
"And the thought that they could never leave you... that’s intoxicating."
Roman listened without interrupting her.
Ever since the day he had openly displayed his anger over the pheromone toxin, Gre Ka Chu had not dared release it again, not even absentmindedly. Because of that, Roman no longer worried about losing himself to its influence.
He simply nodded from time to time, responding with a few quiet words while allowing her to remain in her cheerful mood.
As the atmosphere between them grew increasingly affectionate, Volcano instinctively withdrew his consciousness.
"Damn... why does this feel so wrong?"
He scratched his cheek awkwardly.
"I feel like I’m spying on them... W-Were they about to... mate?"
His face grew even redder at the thought.
"I-I’ll give them some privacy... to... reproduce."
He coughed into his fist, trying to justify his retreat.
"It’s a good thing... If Gre Ka Go has children, there’ll be more intelligent little Gre Ka Gos running around."
Still feeling strangely embarrassed, Volcano allowed his consciousness to leave the world.
Several moments later, he returned.
Gre Ka Chu was nowhere to be seen, while Gre Ka Go lay peacefully asleep inside the house.
An idea suddenly surfaced in Volcano’s mind.
They said only those possessing sufficiently powerful souls could hear the voice of a god—His whispers carried across the world itself.
Being a first-generation Magnari, Gre Ka Go’s soul should still be relatively weak.
Even so...
Volcano decided to try.
"If this works..."
"...I might be able to make Gre Ka Go my very first Apostle."
Muttering to himself, he activated God’s Whisper, focusing his divine will upon the Dao of his world.
[Commencing God’s Whisper.]
[Each spoken sentence will consume 20 Faith Points from the Lesser God.]
Volcano swallowed, preparing himself to speak with his species for the first time.
"...Hey, Gre Ka Go.....Can you hear me?"
