Chapter 79: Chapter 79: The fourth Emergence

Vlad, we need to talk," Roe said.

Vlad simply went back into the building. Roe followed.

Lot knew something was up, so he came around the side and went in as well.

Vlad and Roe entered Vlad’s office.

The door was shut behind Roe.

The secretary was surprised by the sight. Someone was standing by her desk requesting to speak to the master. It was no regular client.

It was Lot.

She stammered as she tried to respond.

"I wasn’t asking for permission," Lot said.

He grabbed the door handle and went in.

Roe turned to see who had entered.

It was Lot.

"Ha, you’re here," Roe said.

"Whatever. Let’s go. We have places to be," Lot said.

It was a front.

He didn’t actually want to leave. He just wanted to know what the two were about to discuss. This was the most natural way he could think of to get them talking.

"We’re in the middle of something," Vlad said.

"They know about the next Emergence. They know, okay?" Roe said. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

Vlad was surprised he was willing to tell Lot.

"I would’ve expected you to use the information I was about to give you as leverage," Vlad said.

"Well, no," Roe replied.

He was lying.

Normally, he would have done exactly that, but he was trying to get Lot to like him.

He didn’t understand why Lot just didn’t.

He had always had a way with people, especially strangers. First Solomon, then Mordred for a bit, then Chris.

It was a setup.

Roe had basically told Lot that just to get him involved.

He was still cold toward Lot externally.

He just didn’t know why or how to explain it.

"I sent my top teams after the next lead," Vlad said.

"How do you know about this person? How did you guys find him?" Lot asked.

There was an awkward silence.

Vlad wasn’t responding.

He simply wouldn’t.

Roe asked the same question.

This time they got a response.

Not exactly the one they expected, but it was better than nothing.

"Fate," Vlad said.

A simple answer.

"Faith? That’s not possible," Lot said. "We were in possession of Faith. That’s the kid we’re transferring over to you guys."

"That’s not possible."

"No, you misunderstand," Vlad said.

He was responding to Lot.

He just wanted them out of his way.

"I read the documents you sent my way. You’re talking about ’F-a-i-t-h.’"

"I’m talking about ’F-a-t-e.’"

"Big difference. Those are two different Emergences with different abilities."

"Yours can manifest anything with the right training. This other one can’t really manifest things, but he can sway and predict manifestations."

"You mean like time?" Roe asked. "Sway, as in manipulate outcomes. Predict, as in read the future?"

"Well, yeah."

"Those two are correct."

"This Emergence reached out to me. I didn’t go looking for him originally."

"So how come you don’t already have him on your side by now?" Lot asked.

"He gave us conditions," Vlad responded.

"So that’s why most of your men aren’t here right now. They’re fulfilling whatever those conditions were," Roe said.

"So what were they?" Lot asked.

Vlad sighed.

"No point keeping it from you now."

"He said we should find and kill the God-Tier System wielder."

Vlad’s response came as a shock.

Lot immediately walked up and grabbed Vlad by the collar.

"What do you mean?"

"What’s that supposed to mean?" Lot asked.

"He said he’s seen the future. This was for our salvation," Vlad said.

"Killing Zach is for our salvation? That doesn’t even make sense!" Roe shouted.

"Oh, it doesn’t?" Vlad asked.

"You still think you can deny fate."

"You, of all people, who have already encountered Fate itself."

"I pulled some footage from the day you awakened. You’ve come into contact with this Emergence before."

"Actually, he was the first of this current batch. He just didn’t make himself known."

"The footage had you vividly state that you understood fate."

"You were just quoting someone, weren’t you?" Vlad asked.

"What? How do you know that?" Roe asked in retaliation.

Lot was completely lost.

"Back up. Let’s go way back. Maybe later."

"Not now."

His grammar was completely jumbled.

"None of this matters."

"We’ve got to go tell Zach."

"We’ve got to go save him."

Lot sounded strangely concerned.

He didn’t want to lose another student.

His thoughts immediately flashed back to Ursula.

Only for a moment.

But that was enough.

"Master, there’s no need for us to go warn the Circle. Let’s just go find this guy," Roe said.

"Zach should be fine. He’s with Solomon, after all."

Roe finished.

"You don’t get it."

"If it’s Fate, then Merlin is probably involved."

"Merlin is probably fine with Zach dying, and if Merlin is fine with it, then you can bet everything you have that Solomon will be too."

"Let’s go."

Lot raced out.

"Do you have any leads?" Roe asked Vlad.

"Where can we find this guy?"

"There’s no need."

"You can’t fight fate."

"You just can’t."

"It was fate that denied you the System."

"Fate made good on its word once before. It’ll do it again."

Vlad said.

"You’re no help."

Roe ran out just as quickly.

"This is a workplace. You can’t just run around as you please," Vlad’s secretary shouted after him.

They got into the car.

First, they had to drop off the documents with the Wise Men.

"Shit. There’s no time," Lot muttered.

He got out of the car.

"You two go get those documents approved or whatever. We’ll settle things later."

"Ruben."

He immediately disappeared.

Teleported.

Or something.

"Go, go!" Roe shouted.

The driver sharply obeyed.

’There it is again.’

’Teleporting when his talent is the Time Element.’

’It could be some kind of spell that slows everything else down.’

Roe thought.

He and Ruben arrived and presented the papers before the Wise Men.

The documents were approved, and a decree was issued, alerting the heads of the various Circles and all Council members.

The message was simple:

A mage with the Faith power has appeared, and he belongs to the Circle of Vlad.

The announcement was clear. freewēbnoveℓ.com

Everyone took note.

"I can’t believe those people actually got their hands on him," a woman said.

She was journeying through high mountains.

"It doesn’t line up with what Andrew reported to me."

"Anyway, I shouldn’t bother. It never really adds up."

"I’ll focus on the task at hand."

She had now reached the mountain peak and noticed a massive rift.

"Let’s hope this is the one."

The woman was Ms. Gadmoda.
