Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Roe continues on

Modred was now free to speak. He just was still being magnetized to the field.

The mana they released into his system had only just successfully deactivated one of two spells.

"We don’t have time, so let’s get to work," Modred said.

"This barrier operates on electromagnetism. It’s generating a force periodically. Emphasis on the periodically. We just need to disrupt its output just like you did my mana flow earlier.

"The only problem is that it’s not outputting mana. In this case, what’s being released is more akin to electricity, which could be related to the thunder talent.

"Neither of us possess said talent. But there’s a way to naturally introduce it into this field. It will all depend on you though," he said, pointing to Sigman.

"I need you to tune this exactly as I tell you to."

-

’He’s obviously edging me. He wants a response,’ Roe thought.

’Well, when we introduced ourselves, what was his talent again?’

The orb landed. It destroyed an entire large land mass. It kept digging deeper and deeper. Roe was able to avoid it because he went on the attack. He was no longer around the target radius. Beatrix and Gwen’s plan to restrain him proved fruitless.

He summoned a jolt of electricity.

’I have to be cautious about my attacks and responses.

’I can’t actually let him provoke me.’

Electric energy was the easiest to manipulate. Roe could cast unnumbered spells with different energies. A jolt of electricity was one of said unnumbered spells.

It made use of only his fundamental knowledge as a mage.

"Now!" Modred shouted.

The jolt didn’t land.

’What happened?’ Roe thought.

"Hey!" Modred shouted.

’What the. How did he... No, how did they?’ he thought.

’Him.

’It was the space mage. Him. Sigman.

’He teleported my spell, then used it to disrupt the field. Now I’ll have to take on all of them, at once it seems.

’I’ve already thinned their numbers. Now I’ve got to do it all over again.

’Except this time it’s against much more credible forces.

’That blood type has barely attacked. Same with Mr. God Tier.

’I’ll have to still factor whatever tricks Verdona and Randolph could pull.’

He sighed.

’Now these three.

’Sigman and his space talent. John with his shadow abilities. Then there’s Modred.

’This won’t be easy.

’They could simply overpower me if they took advantage of their numbers, but I won’t let that happen.

’I’ve prepared for this.’

"No 790. Field of Power."

"Move!" Modred shouted.

They all didn’t make the jump.

The field caught Gandy and John. The others were out of range.

Roe turned to realize they were adapting and fast.

He redid his count. That’s when he noticed that someone who was supposed to be by the field that just shut down wasn’t there.

’Where did she go? That’s one other problem I’ll have to deal with. It’s a pocket slip. She’s in another dimension, isn’t she?

’I’ll take John and Gandy now. I’ll think about her later.

’Edward, Sigman, and Modred from Set B are now all together in the same place. I wonder what magic they’ll wreak forth.’

"It’ll be a blood bath. I’ve waited," Gandy shouted.

"He’s getting all intense all of a sudden," John noted. "He wasn’t like this back when we both teamed up last."

"That’s true. He and Gandy have some sort of teamwork. They could be trouble if I let my guard down."

"Blood Talent. No 78. Blood Statue."

The statue was made of blood. It perfectly replicated his looks. It was more of a doll that could be manipulated.

’It’s coming at me,’ Roe noted as the statue ran straight for him.

’It’s fast too.’

A hit landed. The statue connected and Roe was sent flying to the walls of the field.

"No, not again," he said.

This time he didn’t phase through the field.

He only hit it like you would any other wall.

He just smiled and followed up with an attack.

"Let’s combo then!" John shouted.

He ran in with his weapons. He came in head first.

He jumped, sword in hand, ready to finish it. This could have spelled the end for Roe. It should have. It was going to be a direct clean hit.

"You haven’t noticed, have you?" Roe said. "The other field is done. You know what that means, don’t you?"

Staff in hand, a mana beam went straight through John, knocking him out.

"I’ve been meaning to pull that for a while," he said.

He shot another beam. It didn’t knock out the statue.

"Oh, so it’s sturdy. He can probably vary its durability and whatnot," Roe thought.

"No 791. Pulse Field," he chanted.

The statue took it head on.

"Big mistake.

"Now I just have to factor in what energy type could ruin your composition.

"It’s easy really. Blood is high concentration of water and iron.

"Those two react heavily with electricity. freewёbnoνel.com

"One massive surge coming your way."

The statue crumbled on impact.

Gandy surrendered.

"You can just leave me here. That expended pretty much all my mana. You don’t have to knock me out like the others.

"I prefer this."

"Ok. If you say so."

Roe exited the field. He kept Gandy there just in case.

"Are you guys sure this will work?" Edward said.

"Positive. Just trust the process," Sigman responded.

"Trust the process, right Modred?"

He just nodded in response. freēwebnovel.com

"You ready?" Edward asked Roe.

"Sure. So what’s up?" Roe asked.

His body collapsed that instant.

’Darkness. I’m fading. My consciousness is fading. What’s going on?

’What’s...’

-

Off the pitch the other masters were sharing their evaluation. It ultimately didn’t matter but they had to discuss about something as they watched.

The decision was ultimately Merlin’s. Merlin decided all.

He could say none of them were worthy and that would be the case.

"Ha. Most of these so called mages are already down for the count. Notice how they ones proving to be the most resilient are mine. "

"Notice." Lot said.
