Chapter 10: Chapter 010: The Being in the Temple.

As Adrian drew his last breath, he felt his consciousness drifting into a dark abyss, being pulled by something sinister and powerful. He looked down once more at the hole where his heart was supposed to be. Only it wasn’t.

The pain began to fade, replaced by a strange calm.

’So this is how dying feels,’ he thought, almost in wonder.

In his eyes, time seemed to slow down, making him able to feel all the sensations he never knew was possible, as he drew his last breaths.

A faint, broken smile formed on his bloodied lips.

Who knew death could be so beautiful? Terrifying, but beautiful.

"I guess I should be grateful I wasn’t torn to shreds, huh?" A sad laugh.

The world around him blurred, colors fading into gray. He spat out blood, his body trembling.

"Mother, Father... I’m sorry. I couldn’t survive... Not that .... I wanted to, anyway."

His voice cracked as more blood spilled from his mouth. ’I’m so sorry... I tried. I really did... I tried to survive.’ By now, he couldn’t even get the words out.

His chest rose weakly with one final breath. ’But I’m tired, Mom...Dad... I’m so tired...’

And as the last flicker of light left his eyes, Adrian’s world went dark—his soul, finally defeated.

"Come, child."

The voice was soothing and surprisingly calm.

Adrian’s soul materialized in the dark temple that had been haunting his last moments—his final vision just before he died.

Inside the temple knelt a young, white haired, good-looking man, looking no older than someone in his twenties.

Adrian thought of just one word, his breath catching. ’Beautiful!’

The man was bound in massive glowing blue chains, huge and pulsating with power. As the man looked up, Adrian felt an immense fear creep over him. Just gazing into his eyes was enough—it was as though a living void had opened before him, ready to consume his very soul, it felt like dying a thousand deaths all at once!

The man’s eyes were glowing gold, and his irises had an unusual shape in them.

Despite being bound, he wore a calm, predatory smile, as if he were toying with his prey, Adrian in this case.

But what finally shut Adrian up were the six majestic black wings on his back that seemed to swirl and tangle with the darkness in the temple.

"Kneel, mortal." A simple command filled with authority.

Adrian’s knees gave out in that instant, in response. He collapsed, trembling.

" Sir, please forgive me, I didn’t mean to trespass. I’m really sorry." he pleaded.

"Shut it".

"Yes.... sir".

Judging by the man’s aura alone, Adrian figured he had to be one if the Quasi God Rank beings only heard of in legends and bedtime stories, —or perhaps something close to the much dreaded God Realm!

The man smiled wider.

"Ever heard of Celestials?"

Heard of and spoken about only in legends and myths, the Celestials were said to be god-like beings led by the Creation Goddess, Aurora, the Creator of the World.

It was said that just a single Celestial had the power to turn half the world into ashes, without even moving at all.

But they were believed to be held back by the divine rules of the Creation Goddess and the authority of the Celestial Realm’s ruler—Aetherion, the Will of Heaven.

Adrian felt a chill run through his soul.

So... the Celestials do exist. And for this one to be bound up like this... it means he might have been a major threat to even the Celestial realm!

"That’s right," the man said, a smirk playing on his lips. "I’m or should I say was or rather will still become a major world threat—even to the Celestials."

Adrian’s eyes widened. ’He read my mind...! Incredulously powerful!’

The man continued, "Now, let’s get to the reason I called your soul here. I need your help to remove these chains."

"Huh?"

"Yes. I’ll be taking possession of your body to exact my revenge on Earth. But I need you to infuse your soul into the chains. A trade. Your body, for your vengeance."

"But you could-"

"No, I can’t just take over it. Thanks to the Goddess’ rules, I apparently need your permission to use you." The figure sighed.

Adrian hesitated, dread building in his chest. "But doesn’t that mean I’ll never get eternal rest?"

"Tell me, Adrian. How do you feel about that world that has always been cruel to you? Tell me."

The being smirked.

"We can get our revenge, child. I have the power to do so for us". He smiled wickedly.

" I can wipe out the entire Demon race for you, if you so much as desire it. And all it takes, is just one little soul."

’The demons! They have been the source of my grief, taking away the people I love even taking away my own life. I want them....’

"To suffer?"

"You can read my mind?" Adrian’s eyes widened in shock, before he remembered moments earlier. He couldn’t hide anything from this person. And he, powerful as he seems, has not tried to forcefully take away his soul which means two things.

’Either he’s weakened or he’s just being.....’

"Exactly boy", the being cut him off. All his smiles vanished and his expression darkened. "I’m just being courteous, so don’t test my patience.

"I want them to pay! For my parents! For Mrs Gemma! For everything they took from me!"

Blind rage roared through Adrian. Today he knew the full force of rage, yet he was powerless to do things his way. To powerless to protect anybody, not even himself. He didn’t possess the means to turn his rage into actions. Right now, he didn’t know which sword pierced him the more.

The death of his beloved parents at the hands of the Demon forces, the horror on Mrs Gemma’s face as she was sliced in two by the same demons. The guilt born of thinking he might have prevented her from going through such gruesome death, that he might have spared her the agony. If only he had awaken.

"That’s right, child. Feel the rage and anger burning through your being. What’s the worth of your soul if giving it can help you get vengeance for your lost loved ones."

The being now stood, his wings finally unfolding to great lengths.

"Serve my purpose, surrender to me, your soul and I will grant you vengeance, swift and true. The Dumpling Kingdom, I will raze to the ground and we shall dance in its ashes, that I assure you. All it takes, all I need, is your soul".

Adrian felt his cheeks getting wet. ’Ah, tears.’ He chuckled. " It’s the Demon Race, Khyronians sir. Who knew souls could still feel emotions after death", he muttered.

After a while, he raised his head, his eyes burning with fierce determination. " Swear on your honor that vengeance will be mine! Ancient Being! Swear it!!"

The being smiled inwardly. ’I love this kid’.

"Yes my boy, vengeance will be ours. All that’s left, are sacrifices."

"Fine. DO IT!"

Mikael grinned.

"Finally. Good to know you didn’t fall me, Leviathan. Now, let’s begin our second journey."
