Chapter 3: Selecting Class

[Selecting Dungeon....]

[Dungeon Selected: Goblin Village Outskirts.]

[Difficulty: Beginner.]

[Recommended Level: 1-3.]

[Main Objective: Survive for one hour and eliminate ten goblins.]

[Live Broadcast Channel Opening...]

[Connecting viewers from Various Realms...]

[Current Viewers: 0]

Seeing his current viewership, Dan Moriarty frowned. "Zero?"

Ariel, seeing his reaction, replied indifferently, "You are a new Streamer with no noteworthy feats. Your stream is placed at the very bottom of the front network, so viewers will naturally scroll past it."

Dan Moriarty clicked his tongue. "Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river. Today they ignore me, tomorrow they may not even be worthy to watch me."

Ariel shook her head, reacting to Dan Moriarty’s prideful words, seeing them as nothing more than wishful thinking.

Then...

[Current Viewers: 1]

Dan Moriarty’s eyes lit up. "Oh? Someone with vision has arrived."

Then, a blue panel hovered in front of Dan Moriarty, bearing the comment of the one viewer.

[@DrunkenSwordImmortal: Why did I enter the wrong channel? Is this some shitty beginner dungeon?]

Dan Moriarty’s smile froze, and soon after, his viewership took a hit.

[Current Viewers: 0]

Dan Moriarty hissed at the current count. Back to zero. Surely that Sword Immortal was truly drunk. But Ariel’s reaction caught Dan Moriarty’s attention. He noticed that she had actually giggled a little at the mere sight of him losing a viewer.

"Back to zero..." Dan Moriarty intentionally said, trying to catch another reaction from Ariel. "That Sword Immortal must truly have been drunk to wander in here by mistake."

Ariel, to his surprise, laughed again.

"Oh? She finds my lack of viewership amusing? Interesting... what kind of relationship might be quietly forming between us?" Dan Moriarty thought. But before he could delve deeper, another notification chimed in.

[Current Viewers: 1]

"That’s good to see."

Then...

[@AbyssButcher: Hahaha! Fresh meat has entered the arena.]

[Current Viewers: 2]

[@GoldenFeatherPrincess: This mortal is somewhat handsome. I shall watch for a moment.]

Dan Moriarty instantly smiled, seeing the comment from @GoldenFeatherPrincess.

Ariel stared at him, surprised by his sudden change of mood. She could not make out what had made him so happy so suddenly, because only he could see the comment notifications, and she could not see them.

Then, more comments began to appear.

[@StoneGiantKing: Weak aura.]

[@NineTailEmpress: His face is handsome.]

[@ThunderPalaceGuard: Let us see how long he lasts.]

[Current Viewers: 11]

Dan Moriarty inhaled deeply. "So this is live streaming..." He then concluded that this was no different from the countless streaming sites on Earth, sites like Twitch, YouTube, and many more.

Then, the next moment, the white hall shifted, and a massive rift opened ahead of them. The smell of mud, blood, and damp wood drifted out from within.

Then, as Dan Moriarty took his first step, Ariel reminded him that dying inside the dungeon meant dying in real life, and this was a beginner dungeon, with the rift forming within the broadcast room rather than in the outside world. So even if he was injured, any outside help, if available, would never reach him. But that was why the dungeon was beginner level. It would take Dan Moriarty being a complete fool to die in here.

Then, he walked into the rift, and what greeted him was a dark forest. Ahead of the forest, visible chimneys could be seen, and the noises of clatter and civilization could be heard.

Ding!

[You have entered Beginner Dungeon: Goblin Forest Outskirts.]

[Live Broadcast Active.]

[Current Viewers: 27]

"Shit!" Dan Moriarty cursed. "This place smells awful. How filthy are these goblins?"

As he pondered on that a bit, a different panel hovered in front of him, counting down from 10.

With that, more panels appeared.

Seeing all the numerous class options, Dan Moriarty naturally felt a sense of familiarity. Back on Earth, he had spent countless hours gaming, making use of this different classes, learning their strengths and weaknesses, and more importantly, learning which ones were least likely to die in the early stages.

Without hesitation, he focused his gaze on [Swordsman], and at once, a new panel hovered before him.

Dan Moriarty read through the information and nodded repeatedly.

"As expected of the Swordsman path. Stable, practical, and reliable."

Then he pointed at the panel.

"I chooses Swordsman. It is the safest path."

The system immediately responded.

[Confirmation Received.]

[Are you certain you wish to select Class: Swordsman?]

[Yes]     [No]

Dan Moriarty snorted.

"Why ask nonsense after I already decided?"

He selected [Yes].

Ethereal light instantly poured into his body. His arms grew firmer, his senses sharper, and a strange familiarity with swords entered his mind, as if he had trained for years.

[Class Selected Successfully.]

[You have become: Swordsman.]

[Beginner Skills Granted:]

[Basic Slash Lv.1]

[Parry Lv.1]

[Footwork Lv.1]

[Starter Weapon Issued: Iron Beginner Sword (Common).]

A plain iron sword materialized in front of him and dropped into his hands. Dan Moriarty then gripped the hilt, swung it once, then smiled.

"Good sword." He paused and glanced at the rusty dagger on the ground beside him. "Definitely better, compared to that piece of scrap."

He then checked his updated panel.

"Good," Dan Moriarty commented on his panel interface. "With everything already set up, it’s time we start going."

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

With his newfound agility after Awakening as a Streamer, Dan Moriarty quickly dashed through the forest, heading straight toward the goblin village ahead, the iron sword held tightly in his hands.

"This is the new beginning of my path!"

Leaves rustled behind him as he moved in a blur. Compared to his old body on Blue Star, the difference was like heaven and earth. His steps were lighter, and every movement felt sharper and more precise.

"So this is what power feels like..." Dan Moriarty muttered, excitement rising in his chest. "No wonder countless people risk their lives for it."

Just then, a rustling sound came from a nearby bush.

Dan Moriarty instantly halted, his grip tightening around the sword hilt. His gaze sharpened as he slowly turned toward the source.

Crack.

A short green creature stumbled out from behind the brush. It had ugly pointed ears, yellow crooked teeth, filthy leather wrappings, and a wooden club stained with dark marks. Its eyes were vicious and greedy.

The creature froze upon seeing Dan Moriarty.

Dan Moriarty also froze.

One man. One goblin.

They stared at each other in silence.

Then the goblin screeched.

"Giiik!"

At that very moment, a blue panel appeared before Dan Moriarty.

[Name: Forest Goblin]

[Level: 1]

[Skills:]

[Crude Smash Lv.1] – A reckless swing with its club.

The goblin screamed again and charged forward while waving its club wildly.

"Giiiiiik!"

Dan Moriarty calmly lifted his sword.

"So noisy."

He took one step forward, eyes narrowing.

"Come then. Let me use you to test my blade."
