Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Melee Weapons

Ye Yun clicked on the descriptions for the three weapons one by one.

[Damaged Pickaxe (White)]

[Attack: 1-6]

[Attack Speed: Slow]

[Attack Range: Melee]

[Required Attribute: Strength 3]

Although they were all melee weapons, their stats weren’t identical.

Ye Yun didn’t even have a decent weapon on hand right now, so he couldn’t make a meaningful comparison based on this simple information.

Ye Yun: [They all look pretty good. Name your price.]

Hammer: [I won’t ask for much. The price is the same for all of them. One weapon for 150 White Components. I’m only selling one, so you can pick whichever you want.]

Seeing the price, Ye Yun had no intention of haggling.

From the looks of it, crafting a Green-rarity ranged weapon would cost at least 500 White Components.

White Components seemed a little steep to him, but weapons were quite scarce. If he wanted to increase his combat power quickly, he had to accept the premium.

Ye Yun: [How about 5 [Small Filter (White)] and 5 [Small Protein Converter (White)] for 2 weapons?]

In another shelter, Hammer fell into thought as he looked at the message from Ye Yun.

He wasn’t a fool. Of course he knew how important weapons were in a place fraught with danger.

But in his opinion, while weapons were important, they weren’t as hard to come by as one might think.

These past few days, he had been sending Lucy and Jessica out to search for useful supplies daily.

After four days, he actually had four White-rarity weapons on hand.

However, one of the White weapons had excellent stats, which was why he hadn’t put it up for trade.

His original plan was to sell one spare weapon, while he and his two androids would use the remaining three.

But now, seeing the price Ye Yun offered, he began to hesitate.

After a moment of intense internal debate, he quickly made a decision.

He had originally wanted to keep a weapon for self-defense in the shelter.

But after seeing the price, he figured that given the drop rate of White weapons, he could just trade away the extra ones now and wait for his androids to find him a better one later.

Hammer: [Deal. But Mr. Ye, if you have any more good stuff like those filters, I hope I can buy them from you at market price.]

Ye Yun, of course, had no reason to refuse the other party’s request.

He was just writing a blank check, anyway. Even if he didn’t fulfill his promise later, there was nothing the other guy could do to him.

Of course, as long as circumstances permitted, Ye Yun wouldn’t maliciously go back on a promise he had made. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Since he didn’t have enough equipment on hand, Ye Yun had to ask the other party to wait a bit.

While waiting, Ye Yun also went through the other messages people had sent him.

However, as he patiently opened one chat window after another, his expression slowly darkened.

He had already said in the public chatroom that anyone without the relevant items shouldn’t spam him with messages, or they would be blocked immediately. And yet, quite a few people refused to take the hint.

Ye Yun didn’t indulge these guys and immediately added them to his blocklist.

Whether or not his actions would cause discontent among these people was none of his concern.

Just as he was thinking that Hammer might be his only score this time, a message caught his attention.

Zhang Heng: [[Severely Damaged Construction Bot (Green)] Brother Ye, didn’t you say before that we should contact you if we had any news about construction bots? Take a look, is this what you need? I have two. If you want them, I’ll sell you both.]

Ye Yun’s finger, which was already pressing the block button, immediately pulled back.

He hurriedly clicked on the item’s information.

[Severely Damaged Construction Bot (Green)]

[Description: A construction bot that is inoperable due to severe damage. Using the relevant blueprints and components, it might be possible to repair it.]

Ye Yun frowned as he read the item’s description.

By everyone’s current definition, this thing couldn’t even be considered an item. It fell into the category of a component, because the damn thing didn’t even have a specific function.

However, a phrase in the description piqued his interest: ’...the possibility of repair with the relevant blueprints and components.’

After mulling it over for just a moment, Ye Yun made his decision.

Ye Yun: [This thing of yours can only be considered a component at best. I’d still have to find the right parts and blueprints for it, so it’s probably useless in the short term.]

[It’s not that useful to me.]

Although Ye Yun was genuinely interested in the thing, he didn’t show it.

After all, he knew from everyone’s discussions that the construction bots in most shelters were idle the vast majority of the time.

He had even seen quite a few managers who wanted their androids to take their shelter’s construction bot and defect to him.

Right now, besides him, the demand for construction bots was extremely low.

’If I don’t take this thing, probably no one else will.’

Sure enough, seeing Ye Yun’s lack of interest, the person on the other end immediately got anxious.

Zhang Heng: [Brother Ye, you can tell at a glance this is a crucial item for producing construction bots.]

[If you want to produce your own construction bots in the future, you’ll definitely need the most important components.]

[Green components are rare right now, let alone a specific type like this. I checked the Exchange, and there isn’t a single one listed.]

[Brother Ye, if you pass on this, you probably won’t find another seller.]

Seeing the string of messages from the other party, Ye Yun knew he had taken the bait. A smile crept onto his lips.

’Excellent. The first step in driving down the price is a success.’

Ye Yun:

[Blueprints are too scarce right now. Without a blueprint, you can’t produce anything.]

[By the time I manage to get a blueprint, who knows how long that will take.]

[By then, Green components will probably be everywhere. There’s not much point in buying this so early.]

Zhang Heng:

[Brother Ye, I’m not selling it for a high price! Just give me an offer. As long as it’s reasonable, I’ll sell it!]

Ye Yun nodded in satisfaction. ’Excellent. I have complete control over setting the price now.’

He opened the Exchange panel and glanced at the current price of Green components.

As everyone spent more time and made more trips exploring, and with basically no managers having any use for Green components, some people had already given up on the idea of treating them like treasures. The price of Green components on the Exchange had already dropped from the original 100:1 ratio to the current 93:1. And it was clear to the naked eye that as more Green components appeared, the price would continue to fall.
