Chapter 70: Chapter 69: Skeleton Ox Demon
"Yaaawn~"
Li Ziyu stretched and woke up.
Deactivating Hibernation Mode.
The fortress rose from underground. Outside, night had already fallen, and the cool evening wind of the Wasteland was invigorating.
The Alien Tomb and the Tattoo Workshop were finished, and two new buildings now stood on the platform.
The Tattoo Workshop looked quite ordinary—just a simple, square little hut that would be unnoticeable even if tucked away in a corner. The only eye-catching feature was probably the black Tattoos painted all over its walls like graffiti.
The Alien Tomb was simply a bottomless pit. Faint roars could be heard from within, and an ominous aura shrouded the area.
The Minotaurs would curiously approach the Tattoo Workshop for a look, but they had no desire to go anywhere near the Alien Tomb, keeping their distance from it.
With the Alien Tomb, the materials previously obtained from the Demonized Minotaurs finally had a use. Their skeletons could be used to summon two brand-new Undead: the Skeleton Ox Demon and the Dark Skeleton.
[Dark·Skeleton Ox Demon]
[Introduction: A Minotaur-form Undead imbued with Dark Energy. It possesses fairly reliable Defense Power and greater Power than other Skeleton Undead. Hmm, its bones are very hard. If it absorbs more Dark Energy, it might become even stronger.]
[Requirements: Demonized Minotaur Skeleton x2, Mutated Soul Energy x60, Soul Energy x50]
[Dark Skeleton]
[Introduction: A very dangerous Undead. Be careful when using them, as Dark Skeletons don’t care if those around them are friend or foe. As they absorb more Dark Energy, Dark Skeletons will grow stronger—they are Monsters that can evolve.]
[Requirements: Demonized Skeleton x1, Mutated Soul Energy x30, Soul Energy x500]
Looking at the introductions for the two new Undead, Li Ziyu scratched his head in confusion. The Skeleton Ox Demon was easy to understand; it was basically a one-for-one conversion of a Demonized Minotaur. But he couldn’t figure out what the deal was with the Dark Skeleton.
Although it required half the Demonized Skeletons and Mutated Soul Energy, the Soul Energy cost was 500. The introduction was bizarre as well. It seemed the system didn’t want him to create Dark Skeletons.
To be safe, he decided to see what a Skeleton Ox Demon looked like first. Li Ziyu chose to summon one. He didn’t know if it would be strong, but it was an additional cost of only 50 Soul Energy, which was acceptable.
Summoning a Skeleton Ox Demon was different from training a Skeleton Warrior. It was more like summoning a Skeleton Undead—very fast. The moment Li Ziyu gave the command, a sound came from the Alien Tomb: the thud of heavy footsteps.
The THUD, THUD, THUD of footsteps caught the attention of Liu Xingxing and the Minotaurs, who all gathered around to watch the spectacle.
A huge arm reached out and gripped the wall of the pit’s entrance, followed by a terrifying figure emerging from within.
The Minotaurs stared at the figure, stunned. Uncontrollable fear surged within them. A Skeleton Minotaur—it was a Skeleton Minotaur!
Under the Moonlight, the Skeleton Ox Demon stood up straight. It was a full three meters tall, a whole head taller than any Minotaur present. Atop its head was a pair of spiraling horns that curved slightly inward. Those horns alone were enough to know this was not a creature to be trifled with; getting gored by them would be a terrible experience.
In its hand, it held a four-meter-long White Bone Totem Pole thicker than a man’s waist. The Tabu Tribe Minotaurs had never seen the totem on it before; they could only feel the gray-black symbol radiating an aura of death and Frenzy. Wisps of Dark Energy coiled around the White Bone Totem Pole like smoke.
Perhaps because it had just been summoned, the Skeleton Ox Demon was still adapting to its new body. It stood in place for a long while as the color of its bones gradually changed from the normal white of an Undead to a shade of gray. Black, ink-like markings emerged on its body, making it look bizarre and terrifying.
A deep blue Soul Fire ignited within its cranium, suddenly flaring from a small flicker to fill the entire skull, burning furiously.
"MOOO—"
Whether to celebrate its new life or to vent some unknown frustration, the Skeleton Ox Demon let out a great roar. The Minotaurs standing nearby clamped their hands over their ears, their eyes filled with even greater terror.
They had heard it: a roar of the soul. Unlike other Skeleton Undead, the Skeleton Ox Demon’s voice could be transmitted directly. Not only could their souls hear it, but their ears could as well, as if it vibrated the very air.
This feeling of suppression, this sense of fear, made the Tabu Minotaurs certain of one thing: the Skeleton Minotaur before them had absolutely no connection to them. It was not an Undead made from an ordinary Minotaur.
It was a Demonized Minotaur!
Thanks to his Shaman Bloodline, Tas Tuling’s senses were sharper than the others’. He was the first to realize the Skeleton Ox Demon’s true identity, especially with the black markings on its body, which served as further proof.
Tas Tuling whipped his head around to look toward the main building.
The main building’s doors opened, and Li Ziyu walked out with his High Level Skeleton Undead. He approached the Skeleton Ox Demon and looked up at it with curiosity.
The Ox Demon lowered its head and stared at Li Ziyu for a long moment before slowly bending down and kneeling on one knee in a gesture of submission.
"B-Boss, you made this thing?" Liu Xingxing shuffled over to Li Ziyu’s side and stammered in a low voice, his eyes glued to the kneeling Skeleton Ox Demon, afraid it would suddenly attack.
"Tsk. It’s an Undead, of course I made it. What do you think? Impressive, right? Totally domineering, huh?" Li Ziyu said smugly.
He hadn’t expected the Skeleton Ox Demon to look like this. He had assumed it would just be a Minotaur-shaped Skeleton Undead, and while it did look like a Minotaur, it was far more imposing. One look was all it took to know it was a fearsome warrior.
It’s a heavy tank, isn’t it? Look at that build, look at that thick, sturdy Totem Pole! So fierce!
"Fierce is one thing, but it won’t suddenly go into a frenzy, will it?" Liu Xingxing asked, terrified.
"What are you talking about? How could it go into a frenzy!" Li Ziyu rolled his eyes. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
’Has he forgotten who he is, kid? We’re Transmigrators! We have a system! Go into a frenzy? I refuse to believe an Undead created under the system’s control could go berserk. Now *that* would be truly unbelievable.’
Of course, Liu Xingxing knew the chances of it going into a frenzy under the system’s control were slim. But he was still scared. The big guy in front of him looked nothing like those vacant Skeleton Undead. This thing was just too intimidating. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Li Ziyu, however, paid no mind to Liu Xingxing’s thoughts. He planned to test the Skeleton Ox Demon to see what its true capabilities were, so he called over a High Level Skeleton Warrior and ordered it to strike the demon to see what would happen.
The High Level Skeleton Warrior stepped forward with its Bone Saber, raised it high, and brought it down hard.
The impact produced a cringe-worthy scraping sound. Upon closer inspection, the spot that was struck was completely unscathed—not even a scratch was left behind.
A High Level Skeleton Warrior’s Power is nothing to scoff at; after all, early-stage Undead rely on Power to get by. Yet it couldn’t even leave a mark, let alone break through its defenses. The Skeleton Ox Demon’s Defense Power was even greater than that of a High Level Skeleton Warrior wearing Armor!
’Yes, this is more than just okay. It’ll be a perfect tank, no doubt about it!’
The corners of Li Ziyu’s mouth turned up in a smile.
