Chapter 62: Chapter 61: Staging a Comeback

Late at night, Li Ziyu stood by a window in the main tower, gazing out at the nighttime Wasteland.

The Minotaurs had long since gone to sleep, and only embers remained of their bonfires. The sounds of digging still echoed from the Swamp Graveyard, where over two thousand Skeleton Undead were happily excavating the earth, carrying the unearthed Skeletons back to the fortress. However, today’s harvest was destined to be no match for the previous hauls. Most of the Skeletons had already been dug up; they were basically just wrapping things up now.

The night wind blew, bringing a chill. Behind Li Ziyu, ten High Level Skeleton Warriors stood in silence.

Outwardly, the only difference between them and the Low Level Skeleton Warriors was their Armor and helmets. Li Ziyu had them fight a battle against some Low Level Skeleton Warriors, and they defeated them with ease. Still, he didn’t know how they would truly perform on the battlefield.

’I’ll have to move tomorrow. This Swamp Graveyard is depleted, so there’s no point in digging any further. In the past, I would never have left until I’d picked it clean. But now that I have Liu Xingxing, finding resource points has become much simpler, so I don’t need to get hung up on a single location.’

After summoning the 10 High Level Skeleton Warriors, Li Ziyu also added 20 Intermediate Skeleton Warriors and 30 Low Level Skeleton Warriors. He used the remaining Skeletons to summon ordinary Skeleton Undead, bringing their total number to 3,000, and sent them all into the Swamp Graveyard.

Time passed. The night ended and dawn broke. The Undead Fortress entered Hibernation Mode.

The sun rose. The Minotaurs and Liu Xingxing woke up and began a new day.

...

For the Minotaurs of the Tabu Tribe, it was a normal day. They woke up as usual and went about their usual work. The adult Minotaurs went out to search for food and materials, while the sturdy children ran around, playing and roughhousing. The elder Minotaurs sat in the sun, watching the children with cheerful smiles and doing whatever small tasks they could. It was just like the Tribe’s old days—monotonous and ordinary, yet happy.

Liu Xingxing didn’t go out treasure hunting today. He had already found many treasure locations, so finding more was pointless. He figured he might as well wait for his boss to finish digging up the Swamp Graveyard before searching for more. Besides, the information from the Conscience Merchant yesterday had left him feeling uneasy, so he was even more reluctant to make any rash moves. He obediently stayed put, keeping the Minotaurs company.

A young Minotaur child, in the middle of playing, happened to look up and saw a plume of dust rolling in the distance. He pointed at it and turned his head to shout, "Tas Tuling, look! What’s that!"

Tas Tuling was already mature for his age and didn’t play with the younger children. Normally, he would find a place to practice his combat skills. Hearing the child’s cry, he turned to look, and his expression instantly changed.

"Hurry back to the Tribe! Someone’s coming!"

"What about you?"

"I’m going to get help!"

Children of the Wasteland were not foolish. To survive in a chaotic place like this, they had their own ways of staying alive. The children obeyed Tas Tuling without hesitation, turning and running back toward the Tribe. Tas Tuling, meanwhile, ran toward Liu Xingxing’s fortress.

Liu Xingxing was on his roof at that moment, lounging in a recliner and rocking back and forth. A pile of wild fruits sat beside him. He looked completely carefree and at ease.

"Let me in! Liu Xingxing!"

Hearing the commotion below, Liu Xingxing’s ears twitched. He sat up and peered down curiously, only to see Tas Tuling being blocked by the Catmen, shouting at the fortress.

"Tas Tuling? What are you doing here? Don’t block him, let him in," Liu Xingxing shouted down to the two Catmen from the roof.

"Look over there!" As soon as Tas Tuling saw Liu Xingxing, he immediately pointed.

Liu Xingxing followed Tas Tuling’s finger and his eyes widened. "Is that... a storm?"

"I get it! You can have your people come take shelter from the storm in my fortress!" Liu Xingxing leaned out again and shouted to Tas Tuling.

’A storm? What storm? Didn’t he get a clear look?’

Tas Tuling frowned and raised his voice. "Take a closer look! That’s not a storm, someone’s coming!"

Liu Xingxing froze, then stood up and peered into the distance. He hadn’t looked carefully before and had only seen the rolling dust. But now, looking closely, he noticed something was wrong. Within the plume of dust, a clear line was steadily advancing in his direction. freёwebnovel.com

As a modern person, his knowledge couldn’t compare to that of the Natives who had lived their whole lives in the Wasteland. If Tas Tuling hadn’t alerted him, he might not have been able to tell the difference from so far away.

’Making such a huge commotion... this doesn’t look good!’

Combining this with what Li Ziyu had told him last night, Liu Xingxing immediately grew vigilant. He yelled down to Tas Tuling, "Don’t go anywhere! Wait for me down there!"

After shouting, he jogged down from the fortress and met Tas Tuling outside.

"What do we do now?" Liu Xingxing asked, panting.

"Uh..." Tas Tuling was at a loss for words, looking helplessly at Liu Xingxing.

’You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask? I’m just a Minotaur kid! How would I know what to do in a situation like this? If I knew, why would I have come looking for you?’

Fortunately, Liu Xingxing also realized that asking a child this kind of question was pointless. Although he was also very young, he wasn’t a child. If a decision had to be made, it was up to him.

Suppressing his panic, Liu Xingxing finally began to think seriously. "They’re still some distance away, and we don’t know their intentions. Let’s wait and observe. If they’re enemies, then our only choice is to wake up the boss."

Tas Tuling thought for a moment and nodded. There really were no other options right now. The adult Minotaurs were all out. On the Bone Plate Platform, only the elder Minotaurs and a group of children remained. As for this Human in front of him... ’he’d probably just be cannon fodder in a fight. And those two Catmen of his would be dessert—an extra course.’

The only one capable of solving this problem was the Master of the Undead. But during the day, the Master of the Undead would be asleep. They couldn’t just wake him up without being sure of anything, could they?

Watching from the top of the building was much better than watching from the platform. Even though it was just a small, two-story building, it was at least a bit taller, allowing them to see farther. Liu Xingxing led Tas Tuling to the roof, and the two of them stared nervously into the distance.

A black dot in the distance grew closer and closer, gradually coming into view. Tas Tuling froze for a second, then asked with some confusion, "It looks like a Mobile Fortress. Is it one of your companions?"

Liu Xingxing stared intently at the distant Mobile Fortress, gritting his teeth. "It’s a Mobile Fortress, all right, but they’re no companions. They’re enemies! Enemy attack!"

He recognized it. The one charging toward them was none other than the Goblin Fortress that had hunted him before. ’Those bastards actually dare to come back for more. Looks like the lesson the boss taught them last time wasn’t enough.’

Recognizing the enemy, Liu Xingxing no longer hesitated. He immediately opened the system and sent a message to Li Ziyu.

In the main tower of the Undead Fortress, a sleeping Li Ziyu was jolted awake by a system alert sounding in his mind. He shot upright.

A series of messages flashed before his eyes.

Treasure Hunting Star: Boss, help! Enemy attack!

Treasure Hunting Star: The Goblins are attacking again!

Huh?

Li Ziyu shook his head and slapped his face hard, finally waking up completely. As he read the two messages from Liu Xingxing, a look of anger appeared on his face.
