Chapter 135: Chapter 107: Appropriate Rewards and Punishments (3)
...
"Here, and here, position the Archers. And the Skeleton Undead..."
In the main building’s great hall, Li Ziyu, Liu Xingxing, and Zhang Peng were hunched over a long table made of white bone, gesturing and pointing at a spread-out map as they analyzed how to deal with the approaching Alliance Army.
After receiving intelligence on the Alliance Army from Mengmeng, the three of them had almost simultaneously decided on an ambush. It would be a waste not to use the intel, especially since it was paid for in blood.
The Alliance Army wasn’t far, and time was short. After analyzing the enemy’s route of advance, Li Ziyu came up with a plan: he would give the Alliance Army a "warm welcome."
Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng had no objections. No matter how the fight went down, they didn’t think the Undead could possibly lose.
Were they kidding? Look at how many Corpse Remains were being excavated every day. With all those remains converted into Undead, how could they possibly lose?
Since Li Ziyu wanted to ambush the enemy, they might as well go along with his plan. They could just treat it like a real-time strategy game.
Heh, this was just for fun.
"Alright, this is the plan. Hmm, a welcome needs a sense of ceremony. I’m thinking we start with twenty thousand Undead. What do you guys think?" Li Ziyu turned his head to look at his two allies.
What could Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng say? All they could do was nod in agreement and cheer, "Awesome!"
Seeing no objections, Li Ziyu began to dispatch his troops. He split the 100 Skeleton Longbowmen into two teams, assigning each 5,000 newly summoned Skeleton Undead and 100 Skeleton Warriors. For the frontal assault, he deployed 10,000 Skeleton Undead, along with the remaining 100-odd Skeleton Warriors.
Li Ziyu stood up, and with a grand wave of his hand, he commanded, "Attack!"
The vast Undead Army marched out from the Bone Plate Platform, splitting into three groups and forming an encirclement around the Alliance Army.
’Since you’ve come all this way, you might as well not leave. You’ll have to bear the brunt of my morning temper!’
Li Ziyu stood at a window in the main building, his gaze cold and stern as he looked in the direction of the Alliance Army.
...
The forbidden land—the Wraith Mountain Range—was now clearly visible.
"Chief Panok, we’re almost there." The goblin chieftain approached the Headhunter Race’s contingent, found Panok, and spoke cautiously.
"Mm, very good." Panok gazed at the distant mountain range, a satisfied smile appearing on his face as he nodded.
Seeing that Panok was in a good mood, the goblin chieftain boldly asked, "Should we rest for a bit? My people are exhausted."
"Hmph?" Panok’s smile vanished instantly. He shot the goblin chieftain an icy glare and said impatiently, "No. It’s not close enough. We need to get closer."
A bitter expression crossed the goblin chieftain’s face. He felt he never should have brought his people along for this. They had been on a forced march the entire way with terrible rations, and his clansmen were full of complaints.
A few of his clansmen who couldn’t stand the forced march had tried to run, only to be caught by the Headhunter Race and eaten as rations. After that, no goblin dared to flee; they could only keep up.
His eyes darted about for a moment, and the goblin chieftain continued, "Chief Panok, if we get too close, the Undead will spot us. Your people are tired too. If they suddenly charge us, it will be difficult to fend them off."
This did give Panok pause. He thought for a moment, then nodded, his tone softening. "We’ll go a little farther, and then we’ll rest."
Panok had already made a concession, so the goblin chieftain didn’t dare push his luck. He obediently agreed, returned to his own contingent, and urged his people to keep moving forward.
In the afternoon, as the sun began to slide toward the west, Panok finally ordered the Alliance Army to halt and make camp.
At this distance, he wasn’t worried about any Undead attacking. According to their intelligence, the Undead didn’t appear during the day; they were only active at night. They were quite safe for now, so there was no need to worry too much.
’Tonight is crucial. As long as we can get through tonight safely, tomorrow we can scout out the Undeads’ true strength—or even launch an attack and wipe them out directly!’
’This will be my achievement! This will be the battle that makes my name, Panok’s name, known throughout the Wasteland!’
