Chapter 199: Where The Fuck Is The Body
Okay, looks like the habit of killing runs in the Frost family. I stood there, my legs feeling a little like jelly, watching the crimson puddle on the asphalt expand under the glow of the flickering streetlights.
The road was empty now. No vehicle had passed by since the scene happened, except for Princess’s car, which arrived six minutes after I texted her about what was going on. I could still hear the ticking of her cooling engine in the heavy silence. The first thing she did was check on me, her hands moving fast over my shoulders and arms, looking for scratches on my skin. She was breathing hard, repeatedly asking if I was okay, her eyes scanning me for any sign of trauma.
I was so sure that if Princess had seen a single scratch on my skin, there would have been two dead bodies lying on the ground right now. Her protectiveness was a physical weight in the air, thick and suffocating.
Kiara was staring at the dead rider’s body, her mouth slightly open. She looked like she was trying to process what had happened, her eyes darting from the bloody mess to Beam’s face and back again. On the other hand, Beam was leaning against her own car, folding her arms. The golden glow had faded from her eyes, and she was now wearing that regretful guilty kind of face, the kind that usually comes too late to fix anything.
Princess was by my side, leaning against her own car bonnet. She looked exhausted, the dark circles under her eyes even more prominent in the harsh light. And Malo was busy wrapping up Princess’s medicine, his movements jerky and fumbled. After he was done, he handed it to Princess. I could see his hands shaking, not because he was scared of Princess, but because someone had been killed right in front of him. The metallic scent of blood was strong, and I knew it was messing with his head.
Princess collected the cigarette from Malo and placed it between her lips, her movements slow and deliberate.
"Lighter..." she muttered to Malo, her voice sounding like gravel.
"I don’t have one on me, I don’t smoke..." he said, his voice high and pitchy. He started searching around his body like a lighter would magically appear in one of his pockets, patting down his jeans and his jacket over and over.
Beam stepped forward, her boots clicking softly on the pavement. She happened to have one inside her jacket. She reached out, her hand still trembling slightly, and lit the cigarette for Princess. The flame danced in the dark for a second before the tip of the cigarette glowed orange.
After watching Princess take a deep drag, letting the smoke sink in before breathing it out in a long, gray plume, she took a deep breath. She lay down on the bonnet, her head resting on the cold metal as she stared at the sky.
"Fucking hell, Beamer. My girlfriend was in the car and you were driving recklessly, risking the lives of five..." Princess said. Her voice had changed a little, kinda husky and dangerous.
"Six. I was in the car too..." Malo said in a low tone, reminding Princess about his existence. He looked like he wanted to hide behind the car. "And also my other siblings too. I am their breadwinner..." he added, his voice trailing off as he realized who he was talking to.
Princess’s head turned to him slowly. It wasn’t a sharp look, but it was heavy, the kind of stare that made Malo swallow his words and take a step back. He went quiet immediately, his shoulders hunching up.
"I’m sorry, Princess. I wasn’t in my right mind..." Beam said, her voice small. She looked down at her boots, avoiding everyone’s gaze.
Princess glanced at Beam, her eyes narrowing as she tried to think about what to do with her.
But I’m fine. The pups were kicking, so I knew they were okay. They should be worried about what she had just committed. Beam’s hand was still stained with blood, the dark red crusting around her fingernails.
"Now that your brother is getting a pardon and about to be released from jail, you just earned yourself a ticket to jail..." Princess said, now sitting up. She finally glanced at the body on the floor, the red hair splayed out like a fan. She paused, her eyes widening slightly as she looked closer, rethinking. "Is she not..." freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"Yes, she is the one..." Beam answered before Princess could finish her sentence.
"You killed an outsider?" Princess said, her voice rising an octave.
"I only eliminated the problem. She is dead, which means she won’t be our headache anymore..." Beam argued, trying to find some logic in the mess she’d made.
"We don’t kill people, Beam, to solve our problems. And you didn’t do this for the club. You killed her because of jealousy... once again letting your anger and intrusive thoughts win..." Princess said. She sounded disappointed, which I think hurt Beam more than if she had screamed.
"Why don’t we save the scolding for now and think of a way to get rid of the body before more eyewitnesses show up..." Kiara said. That was her first word after watching the person she claimed to be her new bae’s heart get ripped out right in front of her. She sounded cold, detached, like she was already over it.
"All this wouldn’t have happened if Kiara had just agreed to come with me when I asked her to..." Beam said, her eyes snapping over to Kiara. freewebnσvel.cøm
"You are a psychotic bitch of a person... you just can’t deal with the fact that I don’t want to date a person like you..." Kiara shot at Beam, her hands on her hips.
"But you want to fuck me anytime you want..." Beam said, her voice dripping with spite.
Kiara scoffed, reaching up and adjusting her hair as if she were getting ready for a photoshoot instead of standing over a corpse. "I am not the one who is obsessed here. I can sleep with whoever I want. You are just the one who happens to be always available, so I take what’s easy."
My mouth opened as the two continued bickering at each other. It was surreal. A girl was dead on the asphalt, and they were arguing about their sex lives. Princess wasn’t even focused on them anymore; she was just waiting for them to finish so she could focus on her smoke, her eyes fixed upward.
"Are they sleeping together?" Malo muttered beside me, leaning in so only I could hear. I glanced at him, seeing the genuine confusion on his face.
"Are you just finding out now? Isn’t it obvious those two have some weird thing going on?" I said to him, my voice flat. It had been obvious for anyone with eyes.
"I know they are close. I always thought Beam was the older protective sister and Kiara was the younger one... never thought they were..." Malo stopped talking and made a short, choked-off shocked sound.
"What?" I glanced at him, then followed where he was looking. My heart skipped a beat.
The body was gone.
The spot on the asphalt where the red-haired girl had been lying was empty. Only the dark, shimmering pool of blood remained, reflecting the streetlights.
"Guy! Where the fuck is the body?" I said, my voice cracking.
The two stopped talking instantly. The bickering died mid-sentence as everyone looked at the ground at the same time. We all stared at the empty space for like thirty seconds, the silence returning with a vengeance. Then, they all looked at me.
Why in the fuck were they staring at me like that?
