Chapter 198: Beamer Frost Has Lost It

I should have listened to Malo when he said we should book a ride, because right now, Beamer Frost had completely fucking lost it. The cabin of the car felt like a pressure cooker ready to pop, the air vibrating with a hum that wasn’t just coming from the engine. It was coming from her. frёeωebɳovel.com

The second that motorcycle tore through the traffic and sped off with Kiara on the back, the road somehow cleared like magic. One second we were trapped between endless cars, horns blaring and exhaust fumes filling my nose, headlights burning into the night like angry eyes, then suddenly there was nothing. Just an open stretch of dark road waiting for Beam to lose her mind on it.

And she did.

Beam’s eyes burned gold-yellow in the rearview mirror, glowing like an animal starving for blood. I caught her gaze for a split second and felt a chill go down my spine that had nothing to do with the air conditioning. Her hands strangled the steering wheel so hard I thought the leather would rip apart beneath her fingers, her knuckles protruding like white stones. The engine roared, a deep, guttural sound that vibrated through the floorboards, as she slammed her foot down harder. She was chasing after that bike like this was some deadly race and Kiara was the prize at the finish line.

The car exploded forward.

My body jerked violently against the seatbelt, the sudden force pinning me back. The nylon strap bit into my chest so hard it hurt, pressing against my collarbone. Buildings became blurs of gray and brick. Streetlights streaked past like knives of light cutting through the darkness, rhythmic and blinding.

"Beam, slow down!" Malo shouted from beside me. He was white as a sheet, gripping the door handle so tightly I thought he might pull it off.

She didn’t answer. Didn’t blink. Didn’t even breathe right. Her chest was barely moving, her focus so laser-targeted on the red taillight in the distance that the rest of the world ceased to exist.

It was like talking to a brick wall possessed by rage.

The speed kept climbing. The needle on the dash climbed higher and higher, shaking as it passed the hundred mark.

The tires screamed every time she swerved past another car, the high-pitched wail echoing off the concrete dividers. We were missing bumpers by inches, the wind of our passing shaking the cars we left behind. My stomach twisted so badly I thought I was going to throw up all over the backseat, the chips I’d just eaten feeling like lead. Every sharp turn made my heart slam against my ribs hard enough to hurt, my pulse thundering in my ears.

But Beam only stared ahead. Locked onto that motorcycle. Hungry for it.

At one point we shot up beside them, the engine of the car screaming in a high-pitched whine. We were close enough for me to see Kiara’s helmeted face turn toward us, her body leaning into the biker. The biker glanced over too, the dark visor of the helmet reflecting our headlights for a split second before the engine of the bike growled louder, a defiant roar.

Then the biker sped up, the exhaust spitting a blue flame.

Big mistake. freewёbnoνel.com

Beam’s lips pulled into something dangerous, a snarl that showed her teeth.

The car lunged forward with a monstrous roar that shook my very bones. The force shoved me back into my seat as she overtook the motorcycle in seconds, the world outside turning into a smear of black and neon. Then suddenly.....

SCREEEECH!

The tires screamed against the asphalt, a sound so loud it felt like it was ripping my eardrums.

Beam yanked the wheel with a violent motion and drifted the car sideways, the back end swinging out in a perfect, terrifying arc. We slid directly in front of the motorcycle. Smoke burst from the tires, a thick, acrid smell filling the cabin.

The bike swerved violently, the frame wobbling as the biker slammed the brakes hard enough to leave long, black marks on the road.

For one horrifying second, I thought we were all about to die. I could see the bike tilting, the metal sparking against the ground.

Fucking never going to enter the same car with this kind of bitch again... I am heavily pregnant and she doesn’t even care about that... what the fuck! My hands were shaking as I clutched my stomach, checking for any sharp pains.

During the tense moment, I had no idea what was going to happen. The car had finally come to a dead stop, rocking on its suspension. We happened to be inside Oakland territory now, the familiar street signs visible through the settling smoke. I grabbed my phone with trembling fingers and quickly texted Princess because I don’t fucking think we were going to be home anytime soon.

This wasn’t a quick drop-off anymore; this was a war zone.

Beam’s eyes were still glowing, preying toward the bike that had come to a halt just feet from our passenger door.

"Oh, I don’t like where this is going, I should have just pretended to be sick today.." Malo muttered. He was staring at Beam as she came down from the car, her movements stiff and predatory.

Then he looked at me, his eyes widen. "See this was the reason I wanted safety, the Frost family with their anger issues.." he said, his voice cracking.

"We are werewolves, we are bound to have anger issues.." I shot back at him, unstrapping the seatbelt with a frantic click. I needed to get out of this car before I suffocated. "And if I have any complications or internal bleeding, I’m coming for you Malone Griffin.." I said, shoving the door open and stepping out into the cool night air.

"I wasn’t the one driving, and the Frost anger is on another level..." Malo scrambled out after me.

I leaned on the car, the cool metal feeling good against my palm as I tried to catch my breath. I was starting to feel dizzy, the adrenaline starting to crash. Seriously what the fuck is wrong with Beam, how on earth was Kiara leaving the car enough to trigger that kind of anger?

Now I see why Peamah was uncontrollable, his anger issues mixed with his power... fucking hell.

Princess should better find a new set of friends because I can’t deal with this anymore. These people were walking time bombs.

"Let’s go.." Beam said, her voice dropping an octave. She marched toward the bike, reaching down to grab the box of medicine Kiara had taken. She snatched it back, then grabbed Kiara’s hand, dragging her toward the car. Kiara yanked her hand back with a sharp jerk, her face flushed with fury.

"Are you fucking crazy, you could have killed us all with that stunt.." Kiara yelled at her, her voice echoing off the empty buildings.

"You were looking for speed, that was speed now let’s go..." Beam said. Her voice was terrifyingly calm now, but it was full of jealousy and a simmering anger that made the air feel heavy.

"You can go with the medicine, I am going with her." Kiara said, stepping closer to the biker who was now standing by the idling machine.

"Kiara do not make me repeat myself, let’s go now.." Beam took a step forward, her shadow stretching long across the pavement.

"She said she is not coming with you, you should leave.." the voice from the helmet said. It was a cool, now steady voice. Then the biker removed the helmet, the motion slow and deliberate.

Red wine-looking hair fell down in long, wavy strands, catching the light of the streetlamps. She looked so young and handsomely beautiful at the same time, with sharp features and eyes that didn’t blink.

Me and Malo both leaned by the car, our heads turning back and forth like we were watching a tennis match. The drama was unfolding right in the middle of the street. Beam and the biker argued, mostly Beam doing the shouting while the biker girl just stood there, calm and immovable as Beam lashed out.

"Oh that’s the new girl, the one giving us a little problem, winning races without using Leo’s drugs..." Malo muttered under his breath, his eyes widening.

"Oh.." I nodded my head, the pieces finally clicking together. I was understanding what he was saying but my eyes and mind were still on the love triangle. It was like a train wreck I couldn’t look away from.

Things were getting interesting, the insults flying back and forth, until Kiara called Beam crazy and a lunatic. The words seemed to hit Beam like a physical strike.

Beam accepted the words, her head tilting to the side in a way that wasn’t human. She whispered, "You want to know what crazy means?"

Then suddenly, the sound of tearing flesh filled the air. Beam’s claws popped out, long and ivory, and in the blink of an eye, she moved. It was a blur of motion. She reached out and ripped out the biker’s heart in one clean motion.

Blood sprayed across the asphalt, dark and steaming in the cold air. The biker’s body slumped to the ground like a doll with its strings cut.

What the fuck!

I stood there, frozen. It went from an interesting scene to a bloody scene in less than a second, and the smell of raw copper filled the night.
