Chapter 165: The Group Found Henry But..
While the trio were gone, it was the original group left in the house. Well, everyone except for Peamah, who no one liked. The atmosphere was thick with a nervous kind of energy. They were terrified of him, and they didn’t try to hide it. He was different now, taller and bigger than the last time they had seen him back at school. It was like he had gone through a growth spurt fueled by something dark.
For security reasons, the authorities had placed a heavy ankle bracelet on his right foot. It served as a shock device, a brutal tool used to put him down in case he acted violently or tried to run. MG was the one who held the remote. He gripped it like a lifeline. The moment the trio’s car drove out of sight and the tail lights disappeared, MG pressed the button. He didn’t hold it down, just enough to electrify him and send a warning, but not enough to kill him.
Peamah let out a low grunt as the current hit him. His eyes glowed a fierce, predatory yellow as he looked angrily at MG.
"What? You can’t keep your mouth shut, always blabbering in front of Princess. You’re lucky she didn’t rip your heart out right there for talking about Faye being tortured," MG said. He tried his best not to look afraid, squaring his shoulders, but his hands were shaking. He was still absolutely terrified of the big guy.
"Well, I’m already dying anyway. My hands are bleeding non-stop. It’s only a matter of time before I kick the bucket, so do your worst," Peamah said, looking down at his blood-soaked bandages.
"You better kick the bucket after we find Faye, and not a second before," Sasha said. She gave him an intense, cold look that would have withered anyone else.
"Oh, I see. You’re just jealous that I’m more connected to your little friend than you are, huh?" Peamah teased. He leaned back and continued eating his food as if he hadn’t just been shocked.
"I’m going to rip your heart out before you even get the chance to bleed to death," Sasha snarled, her eyes narrowing. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"I’d like to see you try. I’m stronger than you. I’m the better version," Peamah said, his voice mocking.
Sasha didn’t bother responding with words. She used her telekinesis in a sharp, sudden burst to flick the plate of food right out of his hands. It flipped in the air, spilling everything all over his pants.
Angry, Peamah blurred into motion, speeding toward her with his teeth bared. The two of them locked eyes, both radiating a murderous intent that made the air in the room feel heavy.
Haley didn’t waste time. She told MG to press the button before Peamah could actually harm her girlfriend. MG didn’t hesitate this time; he pressed it hard, making Peamah collapse and convulse in pain on the floor.
"I’m going to kill you all! Every single one of you!" Peamah snarled through gritted teeth, his body twitching from the electricity.
They ignored him and waited. They waited for a response from the trio, hoping for a text, a call, anything to say the mission was a success. But there was no answer for hours. No calls came through. When Haley finally used her laptop to check her contacts and sources back in Blackjack, the news was devastating. The plan to meet Suzy had been a total setup from the start. Princess and Beam had been captured by Yuki’s gang, and Kiara was completely MIA. No one knew if she was even alive.
Feeling down and helpless, the weight of the situation started to crush them. They didn’t know what to do, but they knew they couldn’t just sit in the beach house. It was up to them now to continue the search.
So, they went back to Plan 1.
During those two weeks Princess was out, Peamah Frost hadn’t just been bleeding. He had been able to track Faye’s scent using that strange, unexplainable connection he had with her. He described it like a radio frequency, a signal in his head that he had to tune into to find her.
He led them deep into the thick woods near the Free City. The trees were dense and the air was still. The signal in his head finally stopped at a patch of empty land. There were no buildings, no ruins, nothing but grass and trees.
They were about to search the area further when a man appeared. He claimed to be a ranger guarding the private land and told them they were trespassing and had to leave immediately.
Peamah insisted that Faye had to be there. He told the group that the connection in his mind grew stronger the second they stepped onto that specific spot. He was sure of it.
But they had to leave and follow Beam’s plan.
They group decided to go back there and camp right there, hidden in the brush, waiting to see if there was any movement that didn’t belong in the woods.
Malo opened Kali’s bag and set Kali the snake free. He let her move around in the tall grass, mostly using her as a silent security measure. She could sense things they couldn’t. And also eat any unwanted villain.
They lit a small fire, keeping it low, just in case of wild animals. Haley went to work using her tech knowledge to set up high-tech traps around their perimeter. She even launched a small camera drone to hover silently above, meant to capture any movement and provide evidence for her father in case anything went wrong.
At around 5 a.m., just as the sky was turning a hazy grey, a sharp alarm started ringing on Haley’s handheld device. Someone had triggered one of the perimeter traps.
They were all fast asleep, but the noise jolted them awake in seconds.
Malo grabbed a heavy iron bat he had brought along. Haley held her taser gun tight, her finger on the trigger. Sasha stood up, her eyes glowing, ready to rip someone’s heart out with her powers.
Peamah, on the other hand, remained casual. He stood up and stretched, ready for a fight without showing any of the stress the others felt. He even took a second to mock them for looking so scared.
When they finally got to the location of the trap, they found a boy hanging upside down from a tree. He had bright ginger hair and looked to be about their age. He was wearing normal clothes, but he looked completely out of place in the middle of the deep woods.
Haley deactivated the trap, and the boy fell to the ground with a thud. They circled him, prepared for an attack, but the boy didn’t move to fight. He looked more scared of them than dangerous.
Peamah growled and was about to lung at him, but Haley stopped him by pointing her taser at his chest.
They began to grill the boy, asking for his name and what the hell he was doing in the woods at five in the morning.
He shook his head, trying to catch his breath. He said his name was Henry and that he was just playing a game with his new friend. He explained that his friend told him to hide outside in the woods until she could find him.
Henry said he lived nearby, which sounded impossible since no one had seen any house or structure for miles around.
Then he mentioned his friend’s name. He called her Faye.
That caught everyone’s attention instantly. The name echoed in the quiet clearing. Wanting to confirm it wasn’t just a coincidence, Sasha pulled out her phone and showed him a picture of Faye. Henry looked at the screen and nodded enthusiastically, confirming that was the girl he was playing hide and seek with.
Relief spread across their faces. For the first time in two weeks, they finally had a real lead. They had found her.
Just as they were about to ask him to show them exactly where his house was hidden, Henry spotted Kali slithering near his feet. He started freaking out like a small child, his face turning pale as he tried to kick the snake away.
In the blink of an eye, before anyone could scream or intervene, Kali’s body began to ripple and expand. She grew massive, her scales thickening as she transformed into a giant serpent. Before Henry could even let out a yell, she opened her maw and swallowed him whole.
Everyone stood there in the morning mist, completely speechless, staring at the spot where their only lead had just disappeared.
