Chapter 126: Chapter 103: Everything Is Ready, Except for the East Wind

-----------------

Night fell.

"Is the Boss still sleeping?" Zong Xinyao asked, looking at Jiang Hui.

"Yes, but he should be up soon. It’s already dark," Jiang Hui said, glancing at Su Chen’s room.

"Why did the Boss suddenly come all the way to Xilinhot? And he’s planning to set up a livestock company? Steward Jiang, could you give me a heads-up? I’d like to know what’s going on."

Zong Xinyao had met Jiang Hui on a previous trip to the Imperial Capital for a Byte Company financing round. She’d been sharp enough to realize he was Su Chen’s steward, so they exchanged contact information. It was a convenient way to reach Su Chen if any difficult problems came up.

Jiang Hui pondered for a moment before replying, "To be honest, I’m not entirely sure why Mr. Su Chen chose to invest in Xilinhot. It might be so he can have easy access to Wuzhumuqin mutton in the future!"

"Huh? For easy access... to mutton?" Zong Xinyao’s expression turned a little strange. ’That can’t be right, can it?’

’Traveling hundreds of kilometers and setting up a livestock company just to eat good mutton? That’s too... impulsive!’

Before her imagination could run any further, a familiar voice sounded out. "Huh? Xinyao, what are you doing here?"

Zong Xinyao and Jiang Hui looked toward the voice and saw Su Chen emerging from his room, rubbing his head.

"Boss!" "Sir!" The two of them quickly stood up from the sofa.

"YAAAWN~"

Su Chen yawned, sat down on the sofa, and gestured for them to sit as well.

Zong Xinyao took a seat, while Jiang Hui turned and left the room.

"Why did Pei Rang send you? Isn’t this a bit of overkill?" Su Chen said, leaning back on the sofa. He propped his head up with his right hand, gently massaging his temple with his thumb.

"Anything that requires a personal call from the Boss can’t possibly be a small matter," Zong Xinyao said with a smile.

"I actually had to fight for this assignment. President Pei was originally going to send Li Li, but with all the new employees at the company recently, she couldn’t get away."

Ever since the last Byte Company financing round, she knew her boss was no simple man. His mind was incredibly complex. For him to come all this way, there had to be some secret behind it.

There was no way Zong Xinyao would believe he did it all just for a bite to eat.

"Li Li wanted to come? Has she been bad-mouthing me at the office?" A smile played on Su Chen’s lips.

Li Li was Secretary Li. Su Chen had basically conscripted her in the beginning, and she’d handled a ton of work in the early days. Later, he entrusted her with even greater responsibilities, keeping her so busy her feet barely touched the ground.

During a casual chat with her, Pei Rang had mentioned Li Li, saying she had privately complained to him about how a mere secretary like her had been turned into a jack-of-all-trades.

How could Zong Xinyao dare tell the truth? That would be like stabbing her good colleague and best friend in the back!

"Of course not, Boss! Whoever told you that is definitely spreading rumors!" Zong Xinyao declared righteously.

Su Chen just smiled at her words. He knew the truth.

"Sir, why don’t you wash your face and have some milk tea to warm your stomach before we discuss business?" Jiang Hui walked over with a square tray, on which sat a hot towel and a cup of steaming milk tea.

Su Chen hadn’t expected this from Jiang Hui. He picked up the hot towel and held it to his face for a moment, feeling much more awake.

He took a sip from the cup and found it was quite good. "Old Jiang, this milk tea is delicious. Get a cup for Xinyao, too!"

"No need, Boss. I’ve already had some!"

Zong Xinyao said. She had already drunk some when she arrived—two cups, in fact!

"Mm," Su Chen drained the milk tea in one go and handed the empty cup to Jiang Hui.

"Alright, let’s get down to business!"

Hearing this, Zong Xinyao’s expression turned serious, and she pulled a notebook from her bag.

"Xinyao, the scale of this project is a bit massive, but so far, it’s progressing very smoothly."

Su Chen then laid out his entire plan for Zong Xinyao in detail.

The more Zong Xinyao listened, the more astonished she became. The initial phase was fine, but when Su Chen started describing the middle and later stages of the project, even she, who had seen her fair share of storms, was left gaping in shock.

"Boss, isn’t this plan a bit too enormous? Shouldn’t you reconsider it more carefully?"

Su Chen just shook his head calmly. "I know you have to eat a meal one bite at a time. That’s why the initial phase of the project is just to set up the livestock company and develop the restaurant supply channels. We’ll talk about the rest once we’ve opened up the market and gotten things on track."

Zong Xinyao breathed a long sigh of relief. If the Boss had insisted on executing all the plans at once, she wouldn’t have been able to do it even if she had three heads and six arms.

After scribbling for a good while, Zong Xinyao finally looked up and asked the most important question. "By the way, Boss, what’s the purchase price for the Wuzhumuqin sheep?"

Before coming, Zong Xinyao had only done some basic research on Wuzhumuqin sheep. She knew their quality was among the best in the country, but she hadn’t looked into the local purchase price. ’It can’t be cheap, can it?’

"Fifteen!"

"Oh, seventy-five." Zong Xinyao lowered her head to write it down, but in the next instant, her head snapped back up. She stared at Su Chen in astonishment. "Boss, what did you just say the price was? Fifteen?"

"Yes. Fifteen per jin."

The moment he said that, Zong Xinyao shot to her feet, her face flushed with excitement. "Fifteen? That’s so cheap! That’s no different from the price of pork! Boss, if this project is handled well..."
