Chapter 104: Chapter 96: Sometimes, Missing Out Isn’t Necessarily a Bad Thing

Charles de Gaulle Airport!

The private jet tarmac!

About a dozen luxury cars—Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, and the like—were parked with their hazard lights flashing beside a large private jet!

"I didn’t expect Mr. Arno and Miss Shuraya to personally come see me off!"

Su Chen had originally planned to leave quietly. After all, that old man Arno was a sly one, and there was no telling what schemes he was plotting. ’I’m not smart enough to play his games,’ Su Chen thought. ’It’s better to just head back to the country early.’

But who would have thought... As soon as he arrived at the airport, he ran into Arno, who had clearly been waiting for a long time.

"Mr. Su, were you planning on leaving without saying goodbye?" Arno said, feigning anger. "If word of this got out, people would say my hospitality was lacking!"

"Hahaha~ I just didn’t want to disturb you! I was planning to let you know once I was on the plane!" Su Chen laughed it off. ’I can’t just tell him Paris wasn’t fun and that I think you’re a sly old fox trying to scheme against me, can I?’

"I’m afraid my hospitality was lacking this time. The next time you come to Paris, Mr. Su, I’ll show you around properly and let you sample our local cuisine!"

"Sure, no problem! As long as you don’t mind me being a picky eater, Mr. Arno!"

And so, the two of them exchanged empty pleasantries.

Their conversation was only interrupted when a crew member came to inform Su Chen that the air traffic control tower was urging them to take off.

They watched as the plane slowly taxied from its parking spot, entered the runway, and, with a ROARING engine, gradually lifted off and flew away from the airport.

"Shuraya, you’re not angry with your father for trying to set you up with Su Chen, are you?" Arno finally spoke as the plane disappeared from view.

Shuraya shook her head slightly. She wasn’t opposed to her father’s arrangements, but unfortunately, Su Chen didn’t seem to have the slightest interest in her.

Thinking about how bluntly Su Chen had rejected her invitation to go traveling, Shuraya couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed.

’Am I not pretty? He has absolutely no gentlemanly manners at all!’

"Sigh!" Arno let out a heavy sigh.

Every family has its own troubles. On the surface, the Arno family seemed powerful and solid, but the internal crisis was by no means small. His two younger brothers had always been eyeing his position covetously. The shares they held in the group weren’t insignificant—thirteen percent when combined!

Although that was still a far cry from Arno’s own twenty percent, it didn’t stop the drama of familial power struggles.

He was getting old now. In a few more years, he would have to step back. If he didn’t pave the way for his daughter’s succession as soon as possible, there was no telling what might happen.

The internal struggles of a powerful family were no child’s play. One wrong move...

It wasn’t that he hadn’t considered a marriage alliance with another family—it was a perfectly normal practice in Europe. But Arno didn’t want to bring a wolf into his house. The Louis Vuitton Group had finally flourished under his leadership; how could he possibly allow someone else to come and reap the rewards?

As for why he chose Su Chen, it was simply because he valued Su Chen’s hands-off approach. He wasn’t interested in business management, yet he was a powerful ally. That, combined with the fact that he was from Huaxia, led Arno to his decision after considering all the factors.

Unfortunately, it was a classic case of unrequited interest.

If Arno had been upfront with Su Chen about it, Su Chen might have actually considered it. But having Shuraya test the waters just spooked him, making him think Arno was scheming against him again.

After a long silence, Arno sighed deeply again, then turned and walked toward the car. "Sigh... Let’s go back."

---

Ten thousand meters in the air!

In the lounge of the Bombardier 7500 private jet!

Su Chen was lying on the bed, and he called out in his mind...

"System!"

[Host: Su Chen]

[Intermediate God of Wealth: 940,000,000 / 1,000,000,000]

[Wealth: 123,456,789 Yuan]

[Warehouse: Louis Vuitton Group Share Agreements, etc.]

’Why is it only 940 million?!’

Su Chen did some quick mental math. ’The private jet was 80 million, which converts to about 580 million in Huaxia currency. Add the 334 million I spent in the Imperial Capital and the other 20-something million from before... Yeah, that more or less adds up.’

He still had just over 123 million Yuan in his account.

’I’m still short 60 million in experience before the system upgrades,’ Su Chen muttered to himself. ’I wonder what kind of surprise is waiting for me this time!’

"Old Su, what are you muttering about? What surprise?" Sicong walked in, holding two glasses of juice.

Hearing Sicong, Su Chen quickly opened his eyes.

"Nothing, just thinking about buying the private jet!"

"Oh right, are you heading back to Shanghai or the Imperial Capital this time?" Sicong asked, handing a glass of juice to Su Chen.

Su Chen took it and had a sip. It was watermelon juice, his favorite!

He turned to Sicong and asked, a little puzzled, "We’re planning to refuel in Shanghai and then fly straight to the Imperial Capital. Do you have something to do in Shanghai?"

Su Chen had a hunch that Sicong had business to take care of in Shanghai—business that might even involve him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked.

The large private jet they had taken before, the Wada, had already returned two days ago. After all, now that Su Chen had bought a new plane, Sicong wanted to tag along and experience it.

It definitely wasn’t because he wanted to ride Su Chen’s coattails. He was simply trying to save on fuel money!

"Yeah~ I’ve arranged to meet a few friends in Shanghai, and I was going to chat with them about your wine business!" Sicong hesitated for a moment here, then after a brief pause, continued, "Old Su, about that wine... what are your plans for it?"
