Chapter 103: Chapter 95: None of Them Are Simple! They’re All Old Foxes

"Of course, Miss Shuraya!" Jack said respectfully.

The standard procedure for purchasing a private jet is that the final payment isn’t transferred until the official handover. Typically, a deposit of twenty to thirty percent is paid upfront. This meant that the plane Su Chen had looked at earlier hadn’t completed all the necessary paperwork yet.

There were not only taxes to be paid, but also fees for insurance, flight routes, and so on. Those alone would cost several million.

For the large private jet Su Chen was buying, this meant Shuraya would have to cover several million in costs herself.

......

On the way back, Sicong, who had been holding back for a long time, finally spoke up.

"Old Su, did you know that your plane..."

"Hasn’t completed all the paperwork yet, right?" Su Chen cut in unexpectedly.

Sicong froze for a moment, looking at Su Chen in surprise.

"Come on, I’m not an idiot. I may have never bought a private jet, but I’ve bought a car. It’s the same principle, isn’t it? The plane hasn’t even been handed over, so how could she possibly handle the paperwork?" Su Chen’s lips curled into a slight smile.

"Holy shit, you knew all along? Then why did you have her arrange the transfer agreement? You’re just blatantly taking advantage of her!"

Su Chen shot Sicong an exasperated look. "I’m helping her, alright? If she can’t even handle something like this, how is she supposed to manage a company as massive as the Louis Vuitton Group?"

Sicong’s expression froze. He stared at Su Chen with a complicated look in his eyes...

After a long moment, he finally spoke. "You mean to say, our meeting Shuraya at the airshow was a setup from the very beginning? Orchestrated by that old fox Arno, just to give Shuraya a legitimate reason to get on your radar? Then he used you buying a private jet as a pretext to show you all the effort she was putting in, all to win your goodwill?"

Su Chen just shrugged in response.

"How did you figure it out?" Sicong asked, still confused.

Su Chen gazed out the window before slowly explaining, "Ever since Arno gave me that bronze zodiac head, I knew he was an old fox who likes to use personal favors to build relationships. He uses small gestures to slowly make you like him more and more."

"Only after testing me again and again and seeing that I didn’t have any ulterior motives did Arno let his daughter, Shuraya, take center stage."

"Think about it... if your dad were meeting someone important, would he bring his assistant along? And let them stand right there, listening to the whole conversation?"

He was only able to piece all this together after confirming Shuraya’s identity today.

Sicong understood instantly. When he connected the dots with everything else that had happened recently, it all became crystal clear.

"Old Su, did you get your brain upgraded in Paris or something? How are you so sharp all of a sudden! You’re like an old fox... no, a young fox!"

Sicong’s comment instantly broke the serious atmosphere.

Su Chen heard this and retorted irritably, "What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I used to be slow... is that it?"

"No way, I never said that!" Sicong immediately shot back. Seeing Jiang Hui covering his mouth and snickering in the passenger seat, he didn’t hesitate to drag him into it.

"Old Jiang, stop laughing over there! You be my witness, I didn’t say that, did I!"

Jiang Hui’s smile froze on his face. He caught a glimpse of Su Chen in the rearview mirror, staring at him with a playful smirk, and a shiver ran down his spine. "Ahem... I was spacing out. I wasn’t paying attention!"

With that, he immediately turned his gaze out the window, not daring to watch the drama unfold any longer.

"Old Jiang... you!!"

Sicong wanted to argue more, but one look from Su Chen and he immediately surrendered.

The matter was only dropped after he promised to treat Su Chen to countless expensive meals.

......

That afternoon, Shuraya arrived at the manor with the transfer agreement and other relevant documents.

"Mr. Su, here is the transfer agreement for your review."

Su Chen nodded slightly and took the file.

The transfer agreement was very simple, only two pages. Su Chen gave it a cursory glance before picking up a pen and signing his name.

He then transferred eighty million US Dollars to the account listed on the document.

"Miss Shuraya, the money has been transferred. Please confirm you’ve received it. And thank you for all your trouble today."

’It was best to be polite. After all, she really had helped him out quite a bit.’

"It was no trouble at all. I was happy to help. Oh, right, Mr. Su, here are the other documents and registration papers for your private jet. Please keep them safe." As she spoke, Shuraya placed a folder on the table.

Su Chen made no move to open it. Instead, he waved Jiang Hui over and had him take the documents.

Once Jiang Hui had left, Shuraya tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, took a deep breath, and asked, "I was wondering, Mr. Su, would you be interested in a trip to Denmark?"

"Denmark? For a trip?" Su Chen glanced at Shuraya, noticing the anxious look in her eyes.

’Don’t tell me this woman has a crush on me, has she?’

’How could that be? We’ve only met a few times.’

’Could it be that old fox Arno wants me as his son-in-law?’

For a moment, Su Chen couldn’t figure out what the trick was.

He thought for a moment before replying, "I’m sorry, Miss Shuraya, but I’m actually preparing to head back home in a day or two. Maybe we can arrange something the next time I’m in Paris."

Hearing Su Chen’s refusal, Shuraya visibly relaxed, as if a weight had been lifted. Her smile even widened, though a flicker of disappointment crossed her eyes.

Seeing Shuraya’s reaction only strengthened Su Chen’s suspicion that the old fox, Arno, was plotting something.

The two made small talk for another half hour before Shuraya announced her departure.

After seeing her off, Su Chen returned to the house with a frown.

"What’s with you now? You look like you’ve got something on your mind," Sicong said, sitting up immediately from his spot on the sofa when he saw Su Chen’s expression.

"It’s nothing. I’m probably just overthinking things."

In the end, Su Chen kept his thoughts to himself. It was all just speculation, after all. If he was wrong, he’d just look like a narcissist.

"Old Jiang, contact Jack and ask about the flight crew. If everything’s arranged, we’ll head back home in the next day or two."

"Yes, sir!" Jiang Hui responded.

Sicong was confused by Su Chen’s sudden decision to return home, but he didn’t press the issue.

He knew that some things were better left unknown.
