Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Melee
"Just you wait. You’re going to get disciplined!"
The speaker was a young girl in a white dress, her expression haughty as she looked at Chloe Sinclair like she was something disgusting.
Summer Beckett frowned, pulling out her phone and navigating to a pinned post on the school’s online forum.
[#From Dead Last to First Place: How Did This High School Senior Make Such a Comeback?#]
The original poster was clearly out to smear Chloe Sinclair. The entire post maliciously pointed out that just one month ago, Chloe had been in last place, yet now, a month later, she had shot to the top spot.
While it sounded inspirational, the OP pointed out many suspicious details.
For instance, Chloe Sinclair came from a wealthy family, had a history of bullying classmates, and had even used her rich father’s influence to force another student to drop out.
She was also rumored to have disrespected a teacher, which resulted in that teacher getting fired.
Furthermore, she had somehow managed to transfer into Class 7, and in just one month, she had transformed completely and taken first place. Who would possibly believe a story like that?
There was no shortage of students on the forum who loved a bit of drama. With everyone chiming in, the post garnered over a thousand replies in less than three hours. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Many of the commenters didn’t even know Chloe Sinclair, so the malice on the forum was intense. A few trolls were deliberately fanning the flames, and the thread was now in complete chaos.
[I’m in Class 1. Chloe Sinclair was in our class before she transferred to Class 7. I never expected her to get first place. I just wonder how she managed those scores. Maybe I should ask her for some pointers sometime (smirking emoji).]
[Chloe Sinclair also bullied Ken Lawson. It was because Ken tried to stand up for Chloe’s sister. He barely said a few words before Chloe beat him up. The very next day, Ken Lawson dropped out of school.]
[Holy shit, I can’t believe our school has a student like that! The school needs to expel Chloe Sinclair!]
[To the person above, you probably don’t know who Chloe Sinclair’s adoptive father is, do you? Quentin Sinclair, ring a bell? He’s the richest man in Kennet. Director Sinclair donated the freshman and sophomore academic buildings. You think the school would dare to expel someone connected to a patron that powerful?]
[And here’s another fun fact for you. A month ago, Chloe Sinclair wanted to switch classes, but her homeroom teacher in Class 1, Laura Rhodes, refused. Not long after that, Laura Rhodes was fired. You think that’s just a coincidence?]
[The more you think about it, the creepier it gets!]
The forum discussion was raging. Many posters, seeing themselves as champions of justice or amateur Sherlock Holmeses, were spouting off reckless accusations in the thread.
Summer Beckett was so furious she almost smashed her phone. She couldn’t stop herself from firing back a reply.
[Fuck, you’re all just jealous that Chloe Sinclair got first place, aren’t you? If you’ve got the guts, go get first place yourselves! Go beat the runner-up by more than ten points! If Chloe cheated to get the top spot, why hasn’t the school done anything? You’re all just being used as pawns and you really think you’re some champions of justice? You want me to send you a fucking medal or something?]
Cell phones weren’t allowed at the school, but there were always a few students who slipped through the cracks. As a result, many of Chloe’s classmates in Class 7 were on their phones trying to set the record straight.
They had all seen how hard Chloe Sinclair worked. Besides, anyone who had seriously studied the notes she shared with them had improved significantly.
But the moment any Class 7 students spoke up, they were immediately dogpiled by everyone else.
[Oh, look, it’s someone from Class 7. Have you forgotten what your class’s average scores are? If Chloe Sinclair can get first place, I’ll literally eat shit.]
[Class 7 dogs, shut the hell up.]
...
The students from Class 7 couldn’t believe it. They were just telling the truth, but so many people refused to believe them. They felt completely wronged.
