Chapter 124: Chapter 124: I Suspect You’re a Reincarnator

Summer Beckett froze, staring blankly at Chloe Sinclair.

"I..."

Summer Beckett, usually so thick-skinned, suddenly blushed beet red and stammered, unable to get a word out.

So, he could only change the subject. "You’re improving so fast now, I’m starting to suspect you’ve been reincarnated."

He paused, his eyes filled with admiration. "If I didn’t sit in front of you and see for myself how hard you work, I might really think you were."

Chloe Sinclair didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

She hadn’t realized Summer Beckett was capable of such a strange form of flattery.

But her expression remained unchanged as she shook her head with a smile. "It’s a shame you’re not writing novels."

With an imagination like that, you’d definitely top the bestseller lists someday.

However, Summer Beckett froze for a moment, lost in thought.

Chloe Sinclair had no idea that her offhand joke would actually inspire Summer Beckett to go and write a novel.

The school let out for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

However, Chloe Sinclair’s maternal grandmother’s birthday was fast approaching, and the Sinclair Family had to return to Corvin to celebrate with her.

At first, Chloe Sinclair was a little hesitant.

In her past life, she hadn’t spent much time with her grandmother, and most of those memories weren’t pleasant.

Her grandmother had been a university professor in Corvin and had now retired to the countryside.

In her past life, Nina Sinclair had the best relationship with their grandmother. Even after Nina was no longer considered a daughter of the Sinclair Family, when the grandmother’s birthday came around, she still told Mr. Sinclair that he absolutely had to bring Nina back.

Mr. Sinclair found it hard to refuse, but he didn’t know how to break the news to Chloe Sinclair.

In the end, it was Chloe who noticed Mr. Sinclair’s strange behavior. Thinking about recent events, she suddenly understood.

"Dad, Grandma’s birthday is coming up, isn’t it?"

Mr. Sinclair froze, then nodded.

Seeing his strange expression, Chloe grew even more certain.

"Then we should invite Nina Sinclair. After all, Grandma is closest to her."

"Okay... okay."

The more Chloe said things like this, the more Mr. Sinclair felt he had wronged his daughter. His heart ached, weighed down as if by a heavy stone.

He could only try to console her. "Chloe, your grandmother is just..."

"Dad!" Chloe cut him off.

She understood life better than her father did this time around. She knew that when some people don’t like you, they just don’t like you.

There was no point in forcing something that wasn’t wanted.

Seeing the serious look in her eyes, Mr. Sinclair fell silent, even though she hadn’t said anything more.

Finally, he sighed and ruffled Chloe’s hair, his eyes filled with the profound look of a father. "My good girl is all grown up."

But this maturity had blossomed in corners he could not see.

On the second day of the holiday, the Sinclair Family prepared to leave for Corvin.

Nina Sinclair arrived bright and early at the gate of the Sinclair villa.

Today, she wore a pale yellow, V-neck maxi dress that made her look tall and slim.

Chloe, on the other hand, was dressed very simply in a gray tracksuit and sweatpants, a baseball cap on her head, her face free of makeup.

"Dad, Brothers."

Nina Sinclair called out the moment she entered the house, acting as if nothing had ever happened between them.

Chloe’s older and second older brothers didn’t respond. Mr. Sinclair glanced at them, then looked at Nina with a deep, unreadable expression and grunted a quiet acknowledgment.

Nina seemed oblivious to the awkwardness.

She looked around, feigning confusion. "Huh? Where’s my third brother? Why isn’t he back for Grandma’s birthday?"

Chloe answered, "My brother is filming in Corvin. We’ll meet up with him when we fly over."

A look of "sudden realization" dawned on Nina’s face. "Oh, I see." frёewebηovel.cѳm

Then, her eyes sparkling, she asked, "Can I go visit the set, then?"

Chloe was speechless. She bit out two cold words: "You can’t."

’What is wrong with this woman?’ Chloe thought.

It was obvious no one here wanted to talk to her, yet she kept asking questions without a hint of embarrassment.

For the nth time, Chloe wondered how she had fallen for Nina Sinclair’s tricks in her past life.

"Alright, if we don’t get going, we’ll miss the flight. Let’s go."

Ethan Sinclair spoke up at just the right moment, giving everyone a way out of the awkward situation.

Nina paled and nodded, her gaze meaningful.

But no one present paid her any mind.

The butler drove them to the airport, and thanks to Nina, they almost missed their flight.

On the plane, Nina and Chloe were seated far apart.

Mr. Sinclair had arranged it that way on purpose.

When Nina saw that she had a seat all to herself, a million miles away from Chloe’s, her face instantly paled.

She said, "Dad, why don’t I sit with Chloe?"

Mr. Sinclair’s mouth twitched.

’If I agree,’ he thought, ’who knows what kind of trouble she’ll stir up this time.’

So he refused. "No, this seat is perfectly fine."

Nina grew anxious. "I can teach Chloe how to fasten her seatbelt."

CLICK—

The words were barely out of her mouth when Chloe, head down and expressionless, fastened her own seatbelt.

Then she looked up, her face a blank mask, her tone tinged with impatience. "Thanks, but I know how to fasten a seatbelt."

With that, she ignored Nina and went back to poring over the materials she was halfway through.

Landon Sinclair’s eyes lit up when he saw the book in Chloe’s hands. "Moving on to high-temperature superconductivity now?"

"Yeah, I’m planning to research high-temperature superconducting maglev."

"You have a plan?"

"Yep. I plan to set up my own lab after the college entrance exams."

"I’ll help you find a place. If you can’t find anything suitable, I’ll give you half of my research lab. I have plenty of unused space anyway."

"..."

Watching the two of them discuss academic matters back and forth, Nina’s face grew pale. Knowing she couldn’t get a word in, she could only retreat resentfully.

The siblings had originally just wanted to get rid of Nina, but they unexpectedly got more and more engrossed in their conversation, which lasted until the plane landed.

But even after they deplaned, their discussion didn’t stop.

Mr. Sinclair, seeing that he couldn’t get a word in edgewise, interrupted Landon. "Even if you’re not tired, Chloe is. Save it for when we get back."

Seeing the plea in his father’s eyes, Landon was smart enough to keep quiet.

After all, Mr. Sinclair’s glare seemed to say: ’If you keep talking to my daughter, I’ll cut off your funding and your allowance!’

Landon, with his 200 IQ, was more than smart enough to shut his mouth.

"Dad... actually..."

Mr. Sinclair immediately cut Chloe off, a benevolent fatherly smile on his face. "There, there, sweetie. I’ll have your brother buy you a bottle of water in a bit, and then we’ll go find your third brother."

Chloe swallowed the words "I’m not thirsty" and nodded obediently.

"CUT—"

"That’s a wrap! That’s a wrap!" frёewebηovel.cѳm

The arrival of Mr. Sinclair’s group on set drew a lot of attention.

Everyone knew that Gabriel Sinclair’s family was coming to visit, so they all craned their necks to get a look.

"Holy crap, Actor Sinclair’s family is all so tall and stylish. No wonder he said in an interview that he’s the ugliest one in his family."

"That girl in the yellow dress must be the heartthrob’s sister, right? She’s so fair-skinned and pretty, but she doesn’t really look like him."
