Chapter 328: Chapter 328: Sweetness Overload

The moment Su Li finished speaking, she experienced the full meaning of being "dizzy with happiness."

When Wu Sheng realized Su Li had accepted, he was overcome with joy and, without a second thought, lifted her high into his arms.

Then he started spinning, and the world began to whirl.

"Ah!" Su Li cried out, hastily grabbing onto Wu Sheng’s shoulders.

After several spins, just as Su Li was starting to feel dizzy, Wu Sheng finally stopped.

He panted slightly, gazing up at Su Li.

Su Li steadied herself on his shoulders and let out a long sigh of relief.

"You scared me to death! Quick, put me down."

Wu Sheng, still looking up at Su Li, shook his head. "I’m not letting go. I want to hold you just like this. I’m not letting go."

"You’re crazy." Su Li was speechless. She glanced up at the balloons already drifting into the sky, then back down at the ring clutched in her hand.

"I almost lost the ring."

"It’s fine. If it’s gone, it’s gone." Wu Sheng gazed up at Su Li. "Su Li, I’m not dreaming, am I? You really said yes."

Su Li bit her lip, then suddenly reached out and pinched Wu Sheng’s cheek.

"Does it hurt?"

Wu Sheng chuckled and shook his head. "Doesn’t hurt."

Su Li pinched harder. This time, Wu Sheng yelped, "Ow, it hurts! It hurts!"

"Then put me down if it hurts."

"No, let me hold you for a bit longer. My cheeks still feel sore." Wu Sheng whined playfully. "Can you rub them for me?"

Su Li released her grip on his cheek. "Why would your cheeks be sore?"

"From blowing up the balloons," Wu Sheng said, looking pitiful. "Lately, I’ve just been going home and blowing up balloons. My cheeks have been sore every single day. It was so hard I wanted to cry."

Su Li froze for a second, her hand already moving unconsciously to rub Wu Sheng’s cheek. "You’re so silly. Why did you blow them all up yourself..."

"What else was I supposed to do? I didn’t want anyone else doing it for me. But it doesn’t matter how hard it was; it was all worth it. You looked so surprised just now, didn’t you?"

Wu Sheng nuzzled against Su Li’s hand.

It took Su Li a moment to realize. ’Of course he blew them up himself,’ she thought. ’Back then, how else would you inflate balloons? There weren’t any pumps.’

She thought about the huge cloud of balloons that had just floated away. There must have been hundreds, at the very least. And he had blown them all up, one by one...

Su Li had blown up balloons before, too. It was fun for a little while, but her cheeks would get sore after just a few. It was an awful feeling. And Wu Sheng had blown up so many...

"Are you an idiot? All that hard work just to let them go in an instant? They all just flew away. Why go through all that trouble? Aren’t you usually so smart? How did you suddenly become so foolish..."

Su Li’s heart ached. She gently rubbed Wu Sheng’s cheek. "Is it really sore?"

Wu Sheng shook his head. "It’s not bad. I think it was completely worth it."

Wu Sheng tilted his head and pressed a kiss into Su Li’s palm. "You said yes. That makes anything worth it."

If he had to do it all over again, he would. He’d blow up several times as many.

To see Su Li’s surprise, to see her smile, to have her accept his proposal... what was a little soreness in his cheeks every day compared to that?

As Wu Sheng’s soft lips brushed against her palm, a tingling sensation spread through it.

Perhaps because her left hand was closer to her heart, Su Li felt her heart tingle too, melting into a puddle of softness.

Su Li looked into Wu Sheng’s eyes, and the tip of her nose began to sting with unshed tears.

Her eyes grew hot, but she couldn’t suppress the smile that bloomed on her lips.

"Silly fool..."

’Such a fool,’ she thought. ’I’m just an ordinary person, yet he says that anything is worth it.’

"Don’t cry." Wu Sheng panicked the moment he saw the tears welling in Su Li’s eyes.

Wu Sheng quickly set Su Li down on her feet.

"Don’t cry. I was just teasing you. Blowing up balloons wasn’t hard at all, really. I was just saying that to mess with you."

"Who’s crying? I’m not crying." Su Li looked at Wu Sheng’s panicked expression, blinked, and tilted her head back, forcing her tears to recede.

’I’m not going to cry on a wonderful day like this.’

"You scared me half to death." Wu Sheng reached out, took the ring from Su Li’s palm, and gently slipped it onto her ring finger.

"This is a family heirloom. My grandmother gave it to my mother, and my mother gave it to me. Now, it’s yours. You’re part of the Wu Family now."

Su Li stared at the ring on her finger, and it was a long moment before she found her voice again.

"What made you think of proposing with a ring?"

"I just felt like it," Wu Sheng answered.

He would never admit it was because Tang Yuanxiao had once given Su Li a ring, a fact that had always irked him.

’I wanted to give her a ring, put it on her finger, and make her forget all about Tang Yuanxiao’s ring.’

And so, by a strange twist of fate, Wu Sheng had ended up using a ring for his proposal—a practice that would only become a staple much later.

Wu Sheng admired the ring. "It’s beautiful. It fits you perfectly."

Not too big, not too small. Just right.

Wu Sheng gently took Su Li’s hand and pressed a light kiss to it.

"Su Li, I’m so happy you said yes."

Su Li’s already flushed cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red, and she quickly pulled her hand away.

"You... Why did you suddenly decide to propose?"

"Now that I’ve proposed, we’re fiancés. I wanted to be your fiancé. It’s like... fiancé insurance."

Wu Sheng gently pulled Su Li into his arms. "From now on, you are my wife. My future wife."

She was his treasure, the treasure of a lifetime.

Nestled in Wu Sheng’s arms, Su Li breathed in his scent. Feeling how he held her as if she were a precious treasure, she gently closed her eyes.

After a moment with her eyes closed, Su Li suddenly smiled.

Wu Sheng’s heart hammered in his chest, so fast and hard it felt like it would leap right out.

’If this keeps up, I’m in trouble.’

She struggled slightly and pulled away from Wu Sheng’s embrace.

"What’s wrong?" Wu Sheng asked, puzzled.

Su Li pursed her lips into a smile. ’I’m not about to admit I did it for the sake of your heart.’

She looked down at the ring on her hand and, thinking back to a moment ago, felt a wave of retroactive fear.

"Why did you just tie the ring to the balloon like that? It was so risky!"

"I was worried you wouldn’t grab the balloon. If you hadn’t, I would’ve had to move heaven and earth to get it back."

Wu Sheng rubbed his nose. "Luckily, you grabbed it."

He paused. "I don’t know why, but I just had a feeling you would. That’s a conclusion based on past experience."

’Think about it,’ he thought. ’Back when we first met in Xinghua Village, I left a farewell note. Would a normal person have even found it?’

’No.’

’But Su Li saw it. She found it.’

’Every time since then has been the same. Su Li never disappoints me.’

’We just have that kind of connection.’

’It’s like that saying, two hearts beating as one. That’s us.’

Wu Sheng’s gaze burned as he looked at Su Li. "Su Li, I want to..."

Su Li asked, puzzled, "You want what?"

The words had barely left Su Li’s lips when Wu Sheng suddenly closed his eyes, leaned in, and swiftly kissed her.

Their soft lips touched for just an instant before parting—a kiss as light as a dragonfly skimming the water’s surface.

This was their first kiss, in the truest sense of the word.

Su Li froze, her lips slightly parted as she stared blankly at Wu Sheng.

Wu Sheng grinned. "I’ve wanted to do that for a long, long time."

Seeing her dazed expression and her apple-red cheeks, he couldn’t resist leaning down and giving one a playful pinch.

"If you keep looking so dazed, I’m just going to keep kissing you."

’Stay dazed,’ he thought. ’Stay stunned. Let me kiss you to my heart’s content.’

Su Li snapped out of it, shook her head vigorously, and reflexively covered her face with her hands.

She spun around and took several deep breaths.
