Chapter 327: Chapter 327: Wu Sheng’s Proposal

Yin Cuihua was responsible for all the fabrics and other necessary materials. Su Li was aware of this but didn’t manage it closely, so she had no idea they were also collaborating with Qu An’s family.

Whether Yin Cuihua had sought them out or they had come to pitch their products, the fact that they were collaborating meant the Qu family’s goods were decent.

Although Qu An hadn’t given up on pursuing her—and that time he wanted to give her a matching couple’s shirt was a bit much—Su Li still smiled when she heard his family was working with Pinjun, thinking it was quite a coincidence.

Su Li hadn’t deliberately hidden her identity, but she hadn’t gone out of her way to publicize it either, so very few people knew who she was.

She had run plenty of errands and gotten a lot done, but it was all outside of class. Most of her classmates never saw that side of her, so they didn’t know.

By now, her identity as the owner of a bookstore was clear, but her status as one of the owners of Pinjun Clothing had not yet been made public.

Su Li had no plans to announce it or show off, either.

Her main identity was still a student, after all.

Su Li was lost in thought when she felt the bicycle stop. "Let’s get some breakfast first."

The fresh, tender, and juicy soup dumplings were absolutely divine. Su Li ate with immense satisfaction.

After they finished eating, Wu Sheng took Su Li to a park.

Just like a typical student couple, they spent the morning having fun and even went boating. And, of course, they didn’t forget to eat.

They stopped for a bite of every snack they came across.

Su Li hadn’t relaxed or had this much fun in a long time, and she was overjoyed and excited.

Once they’d had their fill of fun, they went to eat and take a break.

As Su Li ate, she looked at Wu Sheng across from her and couldn’t help but smile.

’Hmm... This counts as a date, right?’

’Come to think of it, is this our first real date, just the two of us?’

’A sweet date, just like a modern couple.’

The realization dawned on Su Li, and she sighed in contentment. ’So this is what it feels like to be dating.’

Having never been in a relationship before, Su Li thought, ’This feels really nice.’

As he ate, Wu Sheng noticed Su Li’s gaze. "What is it?"

"Nothing. I’m just happy."

At her words, Wu Sheng smiled.

"With someone as delectable and easy on the eyes as me in front of you, you’d have to be a fool not to be happy."

"You’re the fool."

Su Li was speechless.

"Come on, let’s go see a movie and rest for a bit."

After the movie, they had some juice, and then Wu Sheng took Su Li to a museum.

Once inside, Su Li was full of enthusiasm, looking at this and that, absolutely delighted.

"I should bring Little Mo here someday."

Wu Sheng, standing to the side, gave her an I-knew-it look. "I knew you’d say that."

After leaving the museum, Wu Sheng took Su Li to dinner.

It was a very special place. The dining area was on a rooftop filled with flowers and plants, and Su Li loved it the moment she saw it.

As evening fell, the afterglow of the sunset was breathtakingly beautiful.

A gentle breeze blew, and Su Li felt completely at ease, both in body and soul.

"Of all the seasons, I like spring and autumn the best. It’s not too cold and not too hot."

Su Li said to Wu Sheng as she ate.

"Yeah, me too." Wu Sheng stood up. "Wait here a second."

He got up and went downstairs, but Su Li didn’t think much of it.

After a few more bites, Su Li suddenly heard a gasp from below.

She looked toward the sound and saw several balloons slowly rising into the air.

"Huh..." Su Li murmured, standing up to see what the commotion was about.

"Did a kid accidentally let go of them?"

Su Li walked over to the railing. Just as she was about to lean over to look down, a balloon floated right up to her face. She pushed it away with her hand, playfully batting at it in her good mood.

"Let me see..."

The words had barely left her mouth when the balloon suddenly floated up and away.

"Hey!" Su Li scrambled to grab it.

"Got it." Su Li caught the end of the string and smiled. But before the smile could fade, she gasped.

She had caught one of the first balloons to float up, but now, right before her eyes, countless more suddenly soared into the air.

The sight of innumerable balloons being released at once was both spectacular and beautiful against the setting sun.

"This..." Su Li’s gaze followed the balloons, and she was completely captivated by the sight.

After the balloons had all drifted far away, Su Li brought her gaze back down, only to freeze.

Wu Sheng was standing in front of her, just a few steps away. She had no idea when he’d appeared.

He watched her quietly, a smile on his lips. The afterglow of the sunset gilded the corners of his eyes and brows in gold.

"Did you like the balloons?"

Su Li blinked. "I did..."

’Why would Wu Sheng suddenly ask about the balloons? Could he have been the one behind them?’

Su Li’s grip on the balloon string tightened slightly.

She unconsciously glanced up at the scattered balloons, which were now just distant specks high in the sky.

The effect of the balloons filling the sky moments ago had been breathtaking.

Wu Sheng smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Take a look at what’s tied to the balloon."

Hearing this, Su Li quickly looked at the end of the string, where she saw a ring was tied.

A gold ring with a crystal-clear emerald hung there silently.

Su Li didn’t know much about gemstones, but this one looked incredibly valuable and had the air of a family-heirloom emerald ring.

Holding the ring, Su Li blinked, then looked at Wu Sheng with curiosity.

Wu Sheng smiled at her, took two steps closer, and suddenly pulled something from behind his back.

It was the small wooden board that had been tied to the back of his bicycle earlier.

There were words written on it now.

Written in his familiar, flamboyant scrawl:

"Su Li, I want to give you a piece of life advice."

"What is it?" Su Li asked, her curiosity piqued.

Wu Sheng looked at Su Li and slowly flipped the board over.

There were only two words on it.

"Marry me."

Su Li froze.

"You..." Her heart suddenly began to pound.

She looked at the words on the board, then at the ring in her hand. There was no mistaking what was happening.

’So Wu Sheng really was behind the balloons earlier.’

’He prepared the ring, too. All of this... it was a marriage proposal.’

’Wu Sheng was actually proposing to her...’

"You..." Su Li’s heart pounded harder and faster with each beat, and she couldn’t form a complete sentence.

It was too sudden. She was utterly and completely surprised.

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Su Li. Will you let me?" Wu Sheng took two steps forward, his deep gaze fixed on her.

Just like countless times before, his eyes held nothing but her.

Su Li looked at Wu Sheng, his words echoing in her mind.

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Su Li. Will you let me?"

’A lifetime with Wu Sheng... Was she willing?’

’Was she?’

A whirlwind of memories, of every moment since she’d met Wu Sheng, flashed through Su Li’s mind.

’Was she willing?’

Su Li searched her heart and heard its answer.

She was.

Even though the proposal had caught her completely off guard, and even though she wasn’t the least bit mentally prepared, she was still willing.

She didn’t need to weigh the pros and cons, didn’t need time to think it over. She was willing.

’Wasn’t it a sign, that time she’d thought of marriage and his face immediately came to mind?’

’If she were to marry anyone in this lifetime, Wu Sheng was the only one she wanted.’

It felt as if a century had passed, and yet also as if it had only been a second.

Su Li looked at Wu Sheng and slowly nodded.

"Wu Sheng, I will."

She let out a breath and looked at the stunned Wu Sheng, adding one more thing.

"Wu Sheng, I don’t think I’ve ever told you this before, but... I love you."

She hadn’t known when it began, only that her love had since grown immeasurably deep.
