Chapter 36: The clinic gathering
-Chirp~. Chirp~.
Birds were returning home, it was a new dusk.
The sun outside the Sungrade castle was bright today as well. The summer wasn’t as hot as the last one, however, it seems like the winter this time would not go easy on them.
"Haaaa."
On a certain high floor of the castle, in a space that was filled with shelves full of medicines, medical equipment and strange surgical objects, a lady in a white coat was sitting beside Prism.
White gloves covered her hands; there were transparent glasses on her eyes, a small beauty mark present right under them. She had a uniquely dark skin tone that one did not see in this part of the empire.
Her hands were also not as slender as the rest of the ladies of the house.
She was a southern beauty, someone so uniquely gorgeous that each of her elements would draw you towards her.
Her short brown hair and deep hazel green eyes would charm you in an instant, but the moment you try anything funny towards this person, you may have to gamble your life.
"When are you going to wake up, child?" She was a Lady of the Sungrade, a partner of the Patriarch and someone who knew her way around both the medicine and the poisons.
She was dangerous to those who may threaten her family but otherwise, she was compared to a saint that healed hundreds of people with the power of their faith.
"Haaaaa."
She wasn’t a mage and she wasn’t a healer. She was an expert in the arts of modern healing, one that had saved thousands of lives until now.
"..."
She was good at what she did, but there were still times when she questioned the limitations of all healing arts.
In a similar instance, she observed the child resting right in front of her.
His hair was blue like his mother’s and yet he had the eyes of the person she loved. He was not really different from her own child, and yet, they had failed him.
She knew there was nothing that can be done about what has already passed, so she was looking after him. However, she was starting to get worried now as well.
"Wake up child. It’s been six days now. What would I tell your father if you don’t–." She was tired from staying up for so long, so, when she suddenly felt a movement and stopped midway, her eyes widened when looking at him.
"Six... days...?" He had finally opened his eyes, and he was looking at her right now.
"!"
He was awake and speaking now, so she quickly moved her hand and grabbed a small bottle from the side tray while holding the boy’s hand.
Slowly, she poured a medicine in his dry mouth that rejuvenated him a little, giving him enough strength to sit up.
"How are you feeling? Are you hurting anywhere right now?!" She quickly called out the nurses from the outside and asked them to relay the news of his awakening to the others.
Many others were waiting to meet him, and the boy understood that as he observed her as well.
"It seems like we won the battle." Prism sighed first, a smile present on his face.
Then, he activated the bond mark on his chest and called out his two partners: the little white bird and the big gray kitten.
"Chirp~!"
"Meow!"
{ "Master! Master...!" }
Felix had been worried about him the whole time even though she resided inside of him and knew most that was going on with his body.
She started crying even though she knew he was fine now. And, while the little white bird showed a moment of weakness for a moment, as if he didn’t care about his master, the bird jumped off the bed and started strolling around the clinic.
Prism had been unconscious for quite some time, but now that he had woken up, he wanted to know how things progressed after he fell.
So, before he saw anyone from his family, he called his personal maid Lexie and got a brief report from her on the happenings of the last few days.
"I see. I understand that things progressed well." He was satisfied with the report. But Lexie knew that wasn’t enough for him.
He wanted to know the details, so she will have to tell him everything later.
For now, there were visitors waiting for him.
"Sam!"
"You weak child!"
Lady Markeet and Lady Emilia were the first ones to enter the room, and right behind them, in the arms of her elder brother, was the youngest gem of the Sungrade.
"Brother Sam! You’re awake~!"
Alex could not help herself and started crying as she hugged her big brother. Apparently, she found out that he was hurt during the battle and had been coming to see him every single day.
Blaze had to drag her out or else she wouldn’t leave him. The Red Knight did not understand how the two had developed such a deep bond.
He wanted to interrogate him since he could not achieve it himself. He was envious of his own little brother now.
"Now now, you two. Calm down. You’re scaring him now." Flora was here as well. And thanks to her, the two worried ladies calmed down.
They had too many questions for the young boy, and there was just so much that he could answer in that short time.
"You’re being too much... mother." Even Able, who hid behind Flora, could not help his surprise.
He was stunned when he faced Prism in the sixth Cradle, he was shocked when he saw him in the colosseum during the Proof of Worth, and he could not believe the words of his sister when she described the way he went against the demonic beast lord in the forest.
He was a goal that Able wanted to surpass at first, but over the last few days, he had simply come to admire their youngest brother.
There was just so much about him that the rest of them did not know. There was just so little about him that they had come to know despite him being one of them.
"I’m alright now, ok? No need to be so worried, ladies."
Sam reassured the ladies that he was fine while holding the little princess. Alex had stopped crying now, but she was still worried about him.
The way she hugged Felix so tightly concerned the ladies, but the kitten did not find the young lady’s hold anything uncomfortable.
If anything, she was happy to see so many people after going against those demonic creatures during the last time she was out in the world.
Six days is a lot but he had expected as much when he pushed himself so far.
Thankfully, he was alive this time.
’I’m too weak.’
But it was still nowhere near enough for him.
