Chapter 63: 63-Looks Like A Foursome About To Happen
Verity:
They listened silently as I told them exactly what had happened and how Theodore had come to help me.
Once I was done, I watched Gigi glance around in confusion.
The worst part was that Ragnar turned his head directly toward her, as if asking whether my answers were satisfying enough.
Which left me confused.
Okay, maybe Ragnar had a problem with the fact that I was his secretary, and if I dated his brother, it could create issues.
There would be accusations of favoritism sooner or later, even though there was no rule against it in the company.
People would still complain.
Or maybe Ragnar’s problem was that his brother had specifically been seen with me.
Verity Swan.
Justin’s sister.
Verity.
"Okay, Ragnar, is it okay if I just go home for a bit?" Gigi asked in a gentle tone.
The fact that she didn’t even move a muscle felt strange in itself.
"Are you okay?" Ragnar asked as she was walking away.
She turned around dramatically and nodded before continuing on her way.
When I turned my head again, I found Ragnar staring at me.
"Provide me with the text messages and everything you’ve been receiving, and I’ll look for the culprit. If you want, I can hire a guard for you."
He spoke coldly, and it didn’t seem like he was doing it out of concern specifically for me.
He was only doing what he believed in providing protection for his employee.
So I had to do what I had to do. freēwēbnovel.com
"Thank you so much, Your Highness, but I can’t accept any favors from anyone. Really, thank you so much."
I said it confidently, thinking I had accomplished something, until he shook his head and scoffed.
"So you can’t accept favors from me, but my brother can do you all kinds of favors and even ruin his relationships by being late to important meetings?"
There it was.
He was taking her side because she was the love of his life.
I wondered how long it would take before I changed that.
But it also upset me a little that Theodore had left out most of the details and made it sound as though my sugar was low and he had simply offered me food.
On top of that, he had completely stopped texting me as well.
Him and Jaguar, I hadn’t even seen them today.
"Okay, I’ll keep that in mind. And I won’t let any robber beat me up or attack me anywhere near your brother."
It was a taunt.
As I got up, I watched Ragnar’s fist clench and his knuckles crack visibly, but I had to pretend I hadn’t noticed.
Otherwise, he would confront me.
So I walked back to my workstation and sat down.
For about two hours, I worked nonstop.
There were a few moments when I tried to get up, but Ragnar would simply give me more work, telling me he had emailed me something and that I needed to check it immediately.
All things that could have been delayed, but it seemed as though he was holding me hostage in his office.
When the third hour arrived, it was finally break time, so he couldn’t stop me.
But the moment I started to get up, the door slammed open, and I was once again squeezed into my corner.
Gigi walked in dramatically, one hand still on the door, breathing heavily as she stared at Ragnar.
Ragnar had been working on some papers when he looked up and saw her.
There was a brief pause as he studied her before jumping out of his seat as if his tail had caught fire.
Even I was confused about what was happening.
The way she dragged her feet inside just seemed wrong.
"Ragnar," she called in a breathless, dramatic tone before raising her hand and nearly collapsing against his chest.
He quickly wrapped his arms around her.
"Gigi, what’s going on?" he asked, gently touching her cheek.
Then his eyes shifted to me, and my body immediately stiffened.
"Get her water," he barked, and my body jolted.
I rushed outside and ran to get her water, annoyed that I had to cater to that bitch.
As I was coming out of the room, I saw Theodore and Jaguar running toward Ragnar’s office as well.
"Sir," I called out to Jaguar, trying to get his attention, but he ran right past me without even looking at me.
"Theodore," I called as he rushed past me.
Once again, I was ignored, as though I didn’t even exist.
That was when it hit me.
When I thought I was trapping them, they had just been having their fun.
It didn’t seem like they had ever cared about me at all.
They must have seen Gigi dramatically rush up to the floor and decided to follow her, completely ignoring me.
I went into the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of cold water for her, and headed back.
I already knew I was going to be shocked.
And I had no idea how right I was.
The door opened, and I stepped inside to find Gigi sitting on the floor, practically in Ragnar’s lap.
Theodore was holding her left hand while Jaguar held her right, both of them rubbing her hands as she quietly cried and whimpered.
Ragnar’s arm was wrapped around her waist from behind, holding her close. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
His other arm was stretched beneath hers, his hand resting against her cheek as he gently stroked it.
"What’s going on? You need to tell us," Jaguar insisted.
My body immediately hardened.
She let out a few dramatic hiccups before looking up at me and kept on staring.
The moment she looked at me, everyone’s eyes slowly shifted in my direction.
One by one, I watched the intensity grow on their faces. First Jaguar, then Ragnar, then Theodore.
It was as if they were ready to pounce if she said even a single word against me.
Then, very dramatically, she raised her entire arm and pointed directly at me.
I felt as if the world had collapsed around me.
