Chapter 48: His apology

I arrived at the dining room to find three of the four brothers. Where is Bryce? He is not here. His absence is unusual.

"Come in and have your seat," Cooper said as he pulled out a chair close to him.

I didn’t want to sit beside him. I’d rather sit alone. I didn’t care what they did to me; I hadn’t forgotten what Cooper did to me yesterday. If they were allowed to get jealous and overprotective, I should also be allowed to do the same. I was tired of being tossed around.

I walked to the other side of the table and sat, completely ignoring Cooper.

"Oh, is this a protest?" Parker chuckled.

"She’s been protesting since last night; it’s nothing new," Gavin also laughed.

"Okay, I’ll ring the bell now." Parker rang the bell, and the maids rushed in with our breakfast. After they served it, I didn’t hesitate and immediately dug in.

Two minutes in, Cooper stood up from his chair. Where was he going? I looked up from my meal and saw him approaching me.

Why was he...? Why was he coming closer to me? What did he want?

He reached me and, without a word, pulled me out of my chair and started leading me out of the dining room, but I resisted.

What did he plan to do? Did he want to lock me up or something? What did he really want? When I continued resisting, he stopped and faced me.

"We have a lot to talk about; let’s converse in private," he said.

"No," I refused, shaking my head. "I don’t wish to go anywhere with you," I responded.

"Ohhh, she doesn’t want to go with you." Parker and Gavin laughed.

"I guess they’re no longer friends, eh? Friends also fight, I see." They laughed.

Was this funny to them?

Cooper said nothing more; he lifted me and placed me over his shoulder. Shit, this again. He took me to the garden behind the house and then set me down.

But I didn’t stay; I turned and attempted to storm out of the garden, but his harsh voice stopped me.

"Listen to me, Amera," he demanded.

I halted and turned to look at him.

"Listen," he cleared his throat and drew closer.

"About Freya, I’d like to apologize to you on her behalf. I’m sorry; I had no idea she could approach you." His tone became gentle as he apologized.

But I didn’t say a word; I kept my gaze on the flowers.

"And I already ended things with her; I won’t see her anymore."

I huffed but remained silent. He ended things with her only because I reacted that way yesterday; if Ruby hadn’t encouraged me to do what I did, he would still be dating her. He could still meet up with her, and he would still sleep with her. He could come inside her too.

What a bastard! I didn’t know how he was so different from Bryce. If he and Bryce were biological siblings, then how were they so different? Bryce was the only one who didn’t cheat.

At least I’d never seen him do it. He rarely had time for women; you’d only see him working. I’d never caught him in a compromising position with a woman. Bryce was not my favorite, but he was actually more sensible in this area compared to his brothers.

"I’m serious, I won’t see her anymore."

"What about other women?" I finally moved my gaze to him.

"Other women?" He repeated.

He was a womanizer; I doubted he’d stop being one for me. He’d probably visit the sex house more frequently now.

"Yes."

"Amera," he tried to touch me, but I took a step back.

"Okay, I won’t approach other women; I’ll take it as my punishment. I’ll stay away from other women, okay?" He came closer and held my hands.

"Were you that upset? You hardly get upset about our sexual escapades, though," he mumbled. "What changed?"

What changed? He was funny. I couldn’t believe he was asking me that question. He was such a dickhead. He deserved the insults he received last night.

"My questions are a bit too inappropriate; my apologies. You don’t need to answer them if you don’t want to." He drew closer and embraced me. He adjusted my head on his chest and wrapped his hands around me.

"It was selfish of me; I get it now. Will you forgive me?" he whispered.

"Forgive me, please," he cooed.

"I’ll think about it," I muttered. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"Okay, I’ll make it up to you. Do you have time after school today?"

"No. I have to read."

"What about tomorrow? No, I’ll fix it on Sunday. We’ll go out on a date this Sunday; I’ll make sure I earn your forgiveness."

"Ok," I muttered and disengaged from the hug. "I’m hungry."

"Yes, you can go. I need to assist Bryce with something, so I’ll be gone from here," he said.

"Hmm," I bobbed my head and started to leave, but he stopped me again.

"Bryce doesn’t know this happened; don’t tell him when you see him," he said.

"Okay," I agreed before exiting the garden. I returned to the dining room and found Gavin. Parker was not there.

"Are you guys friends again?" Gavin asked as soon as he saw me.

"I guess..." I mouthed and took my seat.

I dug into my breakfast again; three minutes in, a call came on Gavin’s phone, and he hurriedly answered.

"Really? Where? I’m coming over right now." Gavin stood up and, without a word, left.

Was this about his mother or his company? I wondered what was so urgent. I hoped he would locate his mom soon. No one deserved to experience such pain, not even them.

After finishing my breakfast, I went up to my room and dressed. After dressing, I walked to the garage but didn’t find Willa. I saw another man standing near my school van. Did they employ a different person after firing Willa?

Sighs. I knew they would fire her. I felt sorry for her. Every one of my rebellious actions landed others in trouble; this was the reason I didn’t like rebelling. I ended up hurting others with my actions.

"Good morning, Ms." The new man approached me.

Oh, he looked familiar.

"I’m one of the patrol guards here; my name is Charles. I’ll be your temporary driver until you get a new one," he announced.

"What about Willa?"

"I believe your personal guard got suspended."

"Suspended, not fired?" I asked.

"Yes, Ms. She’ll resume duties after her suspension, but in the meantime, I’ll be your personal guard and your driver," he informed me.
