Chapter 43: Cooper’s woman

But Cooper came after me and stopped me before I could enter the elevator; he hugged me from behind, and I remained still.

I was angry and wanted to lash out at him, but I held back. I had done well controlling myself; I will be a fool once again.

"I’m sorry, it’s just that..." He began to speak, but I didn’t let him finish.

"I understand." I forced a smile and turned toward him. "I completely understand; you don’t have to explain. May I know the venue, please?"

"Uh... I..." He hesitated, watching me.

"Ruby wants to..." Just then, my phone rang.

"Look, it’s Ruby; she wants to know the location."

"Luffy’s Five Star is an English restaurant; the workers chose it themselves," he revealed.

"Oh... I’ll tell her." I turned to answer the call, but he stopped me.

"You will join us at the VIP table."

"Us? Who?"

"Parker, Gavin, and I."

What about Bryce?

"Oh, okay, can I leave now?"

"No, you’re coming with me." He grabbed my hand and started leading me back into the office, but I stopped him before we entered.

"The stylist is waiting downstairs; she has an invitation and is waiting to leave with me. After the dinner party, we will return to the house together," I proposed.

"Are you sure you’re not mad? I think you are."

"I’m not; honestly, this isn’t your first time anyway," I murmured.

"You. Are. Right."

"Yeah... Can I go now?" I pulled my hand away and walked toward the elevator. I pressed its button, it opened, and I entered. I pressed the button for the ground floor, and it began descending.

We made a stop on the way down, but no one was waiting. Most workers were at the restaurant.

The elevator was about to close when someone suddenly rushed in.

"Sorry," she laughed, "I’m late; I didn’t wait for the next one. Are you also heading to the restaurant?" she asked. When I didn’t respond, she looked at me, and realization hit her.

She was the same woman I had seen with Cooper a few minutes ago.

"Ah," she gasped and stepped away.

"I didn’t know you were the one; I thought you were a co-worker. Forgive me," she apologized, but I remained silent.

I feared speaking to her might increase my anger. I didn’t want to be moody at the party; it might affect my appetite.

"Uh," she cleared her throat and faced me when I remained quiet.

"I guess I should introduce myself; this is a bit awkward." She extended her hand. "I’m Freya. I work here as a team leader in the sales department. I’ve worked under Sir Cooper for four years," she said.

I reluctantly shook her hand. "Yeah," I sighed, not looking at her.

"I guess you’re mad at me," she chuckled. "It’s understandable; who wouldn’t be? I’m also a woman, so I understand you perfectly. But the truth is, I sincerely like him. No, I love him. I’ve loved him since I met him. Aside from his good looks, he is also very kind—not too kind, but professional. He is gentle when he needs to be and firm when necessary. Among his brothers, I feel he is the nicest of the bunch. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t know them personally; I’ve seen them together twice, and from their behavior and mannerisms, I could tell."

"He only noticed me recently; that was two months ago, but he made it clear that our relationship can never improve. It means I’m only someone he calls when he’s horny. I accepted it willingly. I know he has a mate, so I didn’t fight or demand more."

"But while dating him, I hoped, wished that he would somehow fall in love with me and make me more. I wanted our relationship to develop further. I truly want him." She paused.

"I heard you’re mated to all four brothers, but you can only end up with one, right? Can you... Can you break the mate bond with Cooper in time? I know it’s selfish; we just met. But I’d appreciate it if you broke your mate bond with him."

"If you do, Cooper will be free to make his own decisions. He’ll be free to go out with other women without feeling guilty. I noticed his mood changes sometimes when he’s with me. You’re his lock screen, do you know that? Whenever he’s with me and his phone rings, he sees your picture, and his mood changes automatically."

"I think he feels bad about cheating on you, but if you break the mate bond, he’ll be free to do whatever he wants."

"I hope you don’t see me as a bad person; I’m not. I just love Cooper a lot. This is a request from someone who desperately wants his heart."

We arrived at the ground floor, and the elevator opened.

I tightened my grip on my purse and walked out without a word. She followed me.

"Please don’t tell him I said those things to you; I’m afraid he’ll break up with me if he finds out. He already warned me never to speak to you if I ever run into you. But I’m just too shameless; forgive me, don’t tell him we had this conversation."

I didn’t respond and proceeded to the parking lot. I was about to enter the car when a call came in.

"Yes?" I placed the phone to my ear.

"Where are you? I’m at the party right now. I texted Gavin, and he sent me the address. You weren’t answering your calls, so I had to use other means," she shouted; loud music played in the background.

"I’ll be there in ten minutes."

I entered the car, and Willa took the wheel. fгeewebnovёl.com

"Where’s the stylist?" I asked.

"She left."

"Oh, do you know the location?"

"I do. Can we go now?"

"Yes."

We arrived at the restaurant, but I didn’t get out of the car. I grabbed my phone and called Ruby again.

"Hello, where are you?" she yelled.

"I’m outside."

"I can’t hear you."

"I’m OUTSIDE!"

"Okay."

She exited the restaurant, saw our car, and walked over.

"What are you still doing here? You should come inside."

"It’s wild in there. Thank you for telling me about this party; I was bored out of my mind at home. I tried to get my brother to have fun with me, but he’s just so slow," she said.

"Willa," I called, turning to her.

"Yes, Ms."

"Can you go to the party, please?"

"Huh," she looked at me, "okay, as you wish."

"Thank you." I watched her leave.

The moment she left, I facepalmed and began sobbing.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Ruby opened the door and entered the car. "What happened? Did something happen at home?" she asked, but I didn’t respond and continued crying.
