Chapter 117: Celine’s argument

"Hm, I met her," I nodded.

"Did she say anything to you? What did you two discuss?" He quizzed.

I blinked. "Why... do you look pale? Is something wrong?"

He unfastened his belt and leaned toward me. "Does Bryce know she’s in town? Who else knows about this?" He questioned again; his persistent questions left me confused.

"I... I don’t understand," I whispered.

"Where did you meet Celine?"

"At the hospital, with Cooper," I gestured as I answered.

"With Cooper?"

"Yes."

"Did she say anything to you?"

"No."

"But why do you look sad?"

"I..." I lowered my gaze. "I just wasn’t expecting to see her," I lied.

"Are you okay?" He touched my shoulder.

"I am," I smiled. "Let’s go to the pack."

"Alright, let’s go."

"Are we there yet?" Aria spoke up from the back seat.

"No, baby, we’ll be there in a few minutes; play with your tablet," Parker responded to her before hitting the road.

When we got to the amusement park, it was late and everywhere was quiet. But Aria was still excited to go on the rides.

"Won’t you get on a ride?" Parker stared at me when I didn’t attempt to get on one.

"I’m... I’m okay." I don’t have the strength to do this right now.

"Something happened; you’re lying to me," he groaned.

I heaved a sigh. Why is he speaking like he doesn’t lie to me? I don’t lie as much as he does. He is a master at lying and keeping secrets.

"We’ll go to a street restaurant next; what do you think?" he whispered.

"I think it’s great. But can Aria stomach it? Will it be okay for her to eat there?" I inquired, concerned.

"Why not? She’s much stronger than you think. She’s my sister, isn’t she?"

I chuckled and fell silent.

A text attracted my attention.

I opened my inbox and saw a text from Ruby.

’You didn’t speak to me all day.’ ’Wow!’ ’This isn’t fair.’ ’I visited Ryan like you asked, but he is not in good condition. I think you should see him.’

’He is not in good condition? Why? What happened?’ I typed a reply and sent it. I was waiting for a response when Parker drew closer to me.

"Who are you texting?" He probed.

"No... It’s..." I was about to respond when he snatched the phone from me and read my chat.

"Ryan?" He frowned.

"I... You shouldn’t do that to me. You promised to treat me better. I haven’t forgiven you; why are you doing this?" I grumbled as I reached for my phone, but he lifted it into the air.

"Ryan," he muttered. "Have you been meeting with him?"

"It’s none of your business; Bryce already gave me permission to meet him. And besides, he’s hurt; he needs someone by his side," I groaned.

"That person shouldn’t be you. I won’t allow you to go close to him," he said as he returned the phone to me.

I took my phone and drew away from him, annoyed. I thought he was seeking forgiveness. Why is he always acting out? How will I forgive him if he keeps acting like this?

"It’s none of your business," I grumbled again. "He is also my mate."

"What? What did you just say?" He asked.

I ignored him and stayed quiet.

"Did Bryce say it’s okay to meet that bastard? Why would he say something like that? Listen, that bastard hurt Bryce. Do you still think it’s okay to go close to him?"

"Huh," I snapped my gaze to him.

"He hurt Bryce? Ryan did?"

"Yes. Bryce is in pain thanks to him. Do you still think it’s okay to meet him? You don’t even know that jerk! I’m only looking out for you. Don’t listen to Bryce. I don’t know how he thinks sometimes."

"Are you... Are you sure Ryan hurt Bryce?" freewebnσvel.cøm

"Yes, are you..."

"Then can... can you drop me off at Bryce’s office? I want to see him."

"What?" He grimaced.

I faced him. "Can I visit him, please? I also wish to visit Ryan afterward," I murmured.

"Why would you...?" He paused, then heaved a sigh. "No, I can’t; I won’t take you to either Bryce or Ryan. You’re staying with me," he stated.

"Then I’ll go by myself; I’ll go to them myself." I turned and started to leave, but he caught my wrist and stopped me.

"Bryce is busy; don’t go," he said.

"What?"

"I don’t want you to go to him. I don’t want you to see him."

"Why?"

"Just listen to me. Stay still. You’ll be fine if you stay with me."

"I don’t understand why you’re doing this. Why can’t I go to Bryce?"

"Because I don’t want you to go to him," he replied. His response brought different thoughts to my head.

Is he jealous that I’m going to Bryce? But why? Is there a specific reason he doesn’t want me to go to him?

I withdrew my arm. "I’m sorry, I have a question to ask him. I know he is busy, and I know you don’t want me to go to him. But I’m leaving. Take care of your sister, and please don’t stop me again, or I’ll never forgive you," I warned. After issuing my warning, I walked away from the park.

I stopped a taxi, got in, and gave the taxi driver Bryce’s office address. The man took off, and when we arrived at the office, I paid and got out.

I rushed into the company and took the elevator to Bryce’s floor.

When I got off the elevator, I didn’t see anyone on his floor, so I proceeded to his office. I found his office door slightly open; looking in, I saw three people.

Cooper. His mother is Celine. And Bryce.

I stilled.

Maybe this is not a good time to see them. I think I should leave.

I turned and started to leave but paused as soon as I heard Celine’s voice.

"How does this even make sense? It doesn’t make sense that both of my sons are mated to a single fragile woman!"

"What exactly did I do to deserve such treatment? What the heck did your father do? I’m sure he did something; maybe he placed a spell on you or something. But I don’t care; I’ll destroy whatever spell he placed on you."

"The five of you can’t be mated to a single woman. Think about it. It’s never possible!" She argued.
