Chapter 2397: Chapter 2397: Sylvan Cheney Didn’t Call Her Back

Sitting in the chair for a long time, Jasmine Yale finally withdrew her gaze and quietly tossed the phone aside.

There will always be a way.

Heaven won’t always treat her so badly.

Heaven will favor her, won’t it?

Jasmine stood on the balcony, gazing at the vast stars. Those twinkling stars were like children’s eyes, blinking with intrigue.

Sylvan Cheney hadn’t returned her call.

Even until she was lying in bed nearly asleep, he hadn’t returned her call.

Jasmine clutched her phone, half-asleep leaning against the pillow, without much thought in her heart.

The hand reaching out of the covers was cool, and her feet weren’t warm.

Just as she was about to drift into a dream, the phone vibrated.

Jasmine fuzzy-eyed opened them, it was Sylvan’s call.

She answered, "Hello..."

"You called me tonight, did you have something to say?"

Jasmine shook her head, "No, I just wanted to ask if you’ve eaten."

"Oh, such a small matter doesn’t warrant a call. When I’m on the construction site, you ask if I’ve had dinner."

"I see."

"Are you asleep?"

"Yeah, about to sleep." Jasmine heard a hint of intoxication in his voice, like he’d been drinking.

"Then I won’t disturb you, goodnight."

"Wait a minute." Jasmine stopped him, "I left some things at your apartment. Can I come by tomorrow for them, is it convenient?"

"Whatever."

"Alright... Goodnight."

Jasmine hung up the call, her heart surging like crashing waves, akin to tides relentlessly sweeping over her.

In the quiet bedroom, she could even hear the urgent thumping of her heart.

"Stupid woman, still acting tough despite being at the end of your rope. I really want people to see how foolish you look now. I told you don’t fantasize about getting together with a man like Evan, but you didn’t listen. So now you’ve been tricked into bed, and he doesn’t want you, right?"

"I always said Evan was just playing with you, once he succeeded he’d toss you aside, yet you took it seriously. A man like him isn’t young and naive anymore, doesn’t he know what he wants? Men are always obsessed and fixated on what they can’t get, but once they do, they realize it’s just that, and they discard it."

"Erin isn’t the type of conservative woman, she doesn’t keep a strict hold on Evan. If Evan wants to play with women, he’s free to do so, as long as he settles down after marriage. Men in our circle, how many aren’t fickle?"

Suddenly, Stacy’s words all sprang forward, beating against her heart repeatedly.

She wanted to suppress them, but couldn’t.

Was it really just that once he succeeded?

Did he ever care about her...

The chaotic thoughts, the more she wanted to cut them off, the harder they were to sever.

Jasmine turned over and over, unable to sleep.

Wrestling like this back and forth, Jasmine finally fell asleep around three or four in the morning, in a shallow slumber.

...

Daybreak.

The sunlight was lovely, but the wind was strong.

Jasmine made a trip to Sylvan Cheney’s apartment.

The password hadn’t changed; she easily opened the door. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The apartment had a faint scent of alcohol, and she held onto the wall as she walked inside.

His clothes were scattered everywhere, chaotic, and the things she hadn’t managed to take were left aside.

The apartment no longer had any semblance of tidiness.

The kitchen seemed untouched for a while, and the fridge was empty, devoid of anything.

She furrowed her brow, taking out her clothes and packing them into the suitcase.

As she was tidying up, the door sounded.

Jasmine looked up; it turned out to be Sylvan’s housekeeper.
