Chapter 111: Chapter 111 Jealousy
Hudson’s POV
Hudson looked at his watch and cursed quietly. The pack meeting took too long. Now he might miss Christina’s trial against Niall.
"Drive faster," he told his driver. He loosened his tie as the black car moved through the city traffic.
His wolf Lycaon was restless in his mind. "We should be there for her. She needs us."
"I know," Hudson said. "I’m trying."
The car had just reached the main road when Dominic spoke in his head through their pack connection.
"Alpha, the trial ended. Christina won." Dominic’s voice sounded relieved but also worried. "She left the courthouse with that lawyer, Finn Stone. They’re going to the Nyx offices."
Hudson’s jaw tightened. "Change plans," he told the driver. "Go to the Nyx building downtown." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
The car turned into a different lane. Other drivers honked angrily. Hudson didn’t care. He was thinking about Christina with Finn Stone. The Ravenclaw Alpha helped with her case, but Hudson saw how the man looked at his wife.
"He wants her," Lycaon growled. "Our mate."
"She’s not our mate yet," Hudson told his wolf, but it didn’t feel true. Christina was his wife, his Luna, regardless of whether they’d completed the mate bond.
Traffic moved slowly in the business area. Hudson tapped his fingers on his knee. When they turned onto the street where Nyx was located, he looked out the window for them.
There. Christina’s blonde hair shined in the sun as she walked next to a tall man in a dark suit. Finn Stone was standing too close to her. He listened to what she said and touched her arm sometimes.
Hudson could tell the other Alpha’s interest even from far away.
"Stop here," he said. His voice was calm but dangerous.
Dominic was already there.
"What are you planning, Alpha?" Dominic asked through their mind-link. He saw the look in his Alpha’s eyes.
"To show someone the rules," Hudson said.
He watched Christina and Finn stop at a crosswalk. They looked like they came back from lunch. They seemed too comfortable together.
Too close.
The car stopped at the curb ahead of them.
Hudson turned to Dominic. "Go to that food place we passed. Get lunch for two people."
Dominic looked surprised but didn’t ask questions when his Alpha had that face. He nodded and got out of the car.
When Dominic came back with a paper bag that smelled good, Hudson was still watching Christina and Finn through the dark windows. They were talking a lot. When Christina laughed at something Finn said, Hudson felt jealous like his wolf did.
"Drive around," he told the driver. "Get to the Nyx building before they do."
The car went through side streets to get there first. When they stopped in front of the glass building where Nyx was, Hudson made his face look calm and confident.
"Wait here," he told Dominic. He took the lunch bag and got out of the car.
Some people saw him right away. He was the Alpha of the Sabreridge pack, CEO of Laurent Global Holdings, and one of the most powerful men in Highrise City. A few people wanted to talk to him, but Hudson’s cold look and strong presence kept them away.
He stood tall and straight, waiting. Soon, Christina came around the corner with Finn still next to her. She stopped when she saw Hudson. She looked surprised, then walked toward him carefully.
"Hudson? What are you doing here?" She looked at the paper bag in his hand. She seemed confused.
"Bringing my wife lunch," he said. He stepped forward and put his arm around her waist. This pulled her close to his side as he turned to face Finn. "You must be Alpha Finn. Christina says you’re a good lawyer."
Finn looked surprised. His eyes moved between Hudson and Christina. "Yes, that’s... thank you." He stopped for a moment. "The case went well. Christina was great."
"She usually is," Hudson said. His smile didn’t look real. His arm around Christina’s waist got tighter. "I would have been there, but I had pack business."
Christina moved uncomfortably next to him. "Um, Hudson, Finn and I already had lunch to celebrate."
"I see." Hudson stared hard at Finn. "How nice of you to take care of my Luna."
He said "my Luna" in a strong way. Finn heard it right away. His shoulders got tense because he knew what Hudson was doing.
Lycaon was happy in Hudson’s mind. "He’s backing down. He knows she’s ours."
"Just doing my job," Finn said. He looked uncomfortable. "The court ruled for Christina completely. Niall has to pay money and say sorry publicly."
"Great news." Hudson turned to Christina. His face looked softer. "You deserve justice after what he did to you."
Christina looked between the two Alphas. Her forehead wrinkled.
"I should go back to my office," Finn said. He stepped backward. "Christina, congratulations again. If you need help with the case, call me."
Hudson’s arm got tighter around Christina’s waist. "I’m sure we can handle things now. The Sabreridge pack has good lawyers."
Finn nodded. He looked resigned. "Of course." He put out his hand to Hudson. "It was good to meet you, Alpha Hudson."
Hudson let go of Christina to shake Finn’s hand. His grip was very firm. "Same here, Alpha Finn."
When Finn walked away, Christina turned to Hudson with narrow eyes. "What was that about?"
"I don’t know what you mean," Hudson said. He acted innocent and held up the paper bag. "I brought lunch."
"You never brought me lunch before."
"There’s a first time for everything."
"You’re silly. Finn was just being nice. He helped me win against Niall."
"And I’m thankful for that," Hudson said. His voice got softer as he reached out to put her hair behind her ear. "But I don’t like watching another Alpha stay close to my wife."
Christina blinked, not quite used to Hudson expressing his feelings so openly. "He wasn’t staying close."
"He was." Hudson’s thumb touched her cheek.
"You were a bit rude to him. That wasn’t needed," she said quietly, but she didn’t sound upset.
"It was completely needed," Hudson said back. A real smile came on his face. "Now, will you invite me to your office for this lunch I brought, or should we eat in the car?"
Christina looked at him with narrow eyes. "You’re acting strange."
"Am I?"
"Yes, you are."
"Okay." He took her hand and started walking forward. "There are too many people here. Let’s go to the car."
"Won’t the car be crowded?" she said with annoyance, but she followed him anyway.
