Chapter 25: Warehouse

Edgar frowned when he saw the obnoxious reaction of his old companion.

He walked closer and helped him back onto his feet before asking, "Why are you reacting like this?"

The old man turned toward him, his breathing still unstable.

His trembling hand pointed at the fortress wall, and he whispered in disbelief.

"Young master... do you have any idea how long it takes for a normal Builder to create a fortress wall this big?"

"..."

The blonde boy couldn’t answer.

He was, by all means, just a normal man who had arrived in this world a week ago.

"...Three months." Oswald answered. "I have never heard of a Builder who completed a fortress wall in a matter of a few minutes..."

Edgar shifted his gaze towards the pair of mother and son.

Even though they weren’t that informed, they still had that weird look on their faces.

....It was as if they were in the presence of someone otherworldly.

"...What?"

Andrew turned his head, admiring the fog around him, while Viera lowered her head.

None of them present could deny the fact that Edgar might be blessed by the gods.

"You need to be careful, young master." Oswald said earnestly. "If word gets out about your talent, ’they’ will try to enslave you or kill you."

Edgar had his own guess about who he was referring to.

’Kings, queens, clan heads, sect leaders, and many more....’

And in all honesty, Edgar understood why they would try to kill him.

His presence alone was more than enough to break the balance of this world.

’I really need to be careful about whom I share my secrets with.’

Taking in a deep breath, Edgar walked towards the fortress wall.

In all four directions, there were staircases that led up to the top of the wall. fгeewebnovёl.com

A large stone slab was used as the main door, tightly held by heavy ropes on either side.

Edgar slowly climbed the staircase and reached the top of the newly upgraded wall.

The sighing wind brought the smell of corpses from all around the fortress.

The five-meter-tall wall stretched around the entire settlement, separating them from the endless wilderness beyond.

Edgar rested his hands on the stone battlements and looked outward.

’With how things are, this fortress wall should be able to handle a Nightmare horde.’

He walked along the Patrol Path, which was wide enough for two horses to run comfortably.

His gaze shifted towards the foggy field filled with Nightmare corpses.

Walking down the Patrol Path, he called out to the young boy.

"Try to collect as much Nightmare blood from different monsters outside as possible."

The young man blinked innocently.

"Sure, but what should we do about the dead bodies?"

"Bring them in." Edgar said casually. "I have my plans for them."

"Alright!"

Filled with energy, the young boy nodded before walking out of the fortress.

He also took the horse and cart to make the work easier.

Edgar turned to look at Oswald and said with a smile, "Would you mind feeding the chickens?"

The old man seemed to have a lot to say, but in the end, he just nodded. "As you wish, young master."

Finally, he walked towards the only lady in the fortress.

"Can you please bring out all the items that need to be stored?"

Lady Viera didn’t dare question his order, she was afterall depended on his kindness.

She bowed slightly. "I will begin immediately."

Having finished assigning tasks, Edgar began planning his next course of action.

’First, I need to create a warehouse.’

After walking around the place for some time, Edgar decided to use the open space along the eastern side of the fortress.

He took out a wooden parchment from his house and found a place to sit on the Watch Tower platform.

Closing his eyes, he tried to remember as much as he could about warehouses before he began drawing.

Unlike the chicken coop, this design required more thought.

And his knowledge from Earth wasn’t specialized enough to design a perfect warehouse.

Still, he knew the fundamentals of a warehouse.

From raised flooring and air ventilation to strong supports, Edgar made everything as accurate as he could remember.

Time began to pass as he lost himself in his work.

During that time, Viera occasionally brought him water, and old man Oswald would sneak glances at his drawing.

To him, Edgar’s drawings looked like meaningless lines.

Yet after witnessing the fortress wall, Oswald no longer dared underestimate them.

Finally, after two hours, Edgar set down the quill.

The complete design of the warehouse was in his hand.

Eagerly, Edgar looked at the status screen, just as he had before.

Not being as impatient as last time, he waited for a while.

Finally, new text began to appear.

⟨Builder Blueprint: Storage Warehouse⟩

⟨Grade: White⟩

⟨Completion Rate: 53%⟩

⟨Materials Required: Wood × 120, Stone × 80, Iron Nails × 67⟩

⟨Effect: Preserves food and materials. Storage efficiency increased by 20%.⟩

A small smile bloomed on his serious face as he created another blueprint.

Observing the text, Edgar raised an eyebrow. "Fifty-three?"

The completion rate was significantly higher than that of the chicken coop.

’Looks like the more experience I gain, the better my blueprints become.’

Encouraged by the result, Edgar walked down from the platform and was greeted by a surprising sight.

Almost the entire area near the gate was filled with Nightmare corpses.

The young horse trotted through the fortress gate while pulling a cart full of dead bodies behind it.

Andrew quickly dumped them onto the previous pile, creating a small hill.

Edgar walked closer and asked, "How many have you gathered?"

"Almost half of them, young master." Andrew replied proudly. "I will be done in a while."

Edgar nodded slowly. ’He really is strong and reliable.’

Perhaps it was just his childish nature, but Andrew always gave his all to any task.

"Good job." Edgar patted the young boy, who beamed in response.

Then the young blonde looked at the pile of monsters.

’I thought I could build the warehouse first....’

Edgar let out a soft sigh and put aside his plans to create the warehouse.

He pulled up his status screen and observed the built-in blueprints of the system.
