Chapter 21: Body Reconstruction

In the cart that was being pulled by a young horse, Edgar sat quietly, holding a jade in his hand.

Around him were five chickens and five roosters inside two different cages. Two big bags filled with rice and wheat rested beside them.

In the end, both of them cost him a total of thirty silver coins. To buy the horse and the cart, Edgar had to use the Green Nightmare Stone.

After being satisfied with the shopping, Edgar and Andrew quickly rushed back to their fortress.

’...What type of shitty coincidence is this?’

Edgar thought grimly, staring at the jade in his hand.

As he kept looking at it, a line of text appeared over the jade.

⟨Nightmare Trance: Order of the Sun⟩

⟨Grade: ?????⟩

⟨Ritual: Submerge yourself in the frozen blood of ten different Nightmares on a full moon while consuming it.⟩

⟨Ability: Information about body reconstruction and the Sun.⟩

’What the hell does it mean by body reconstruction?’

Even after spending hours trying to understand it, Edgar couldn’t make any sense of it.

’Will it reconstruct my body to be suitable for something? But what?’

Edgar’s gaze shifted to the words at the very end.

’And what does it mean by information about the Sun? I already know what that is!’

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he leaned back against the bag of rice.

Even though there were a bunch of question marks in the grade section, Edgar could understand that the jade was priceless.

’I can’t understand how a girl like Hera got her hands on this.’

The sheer coincidence it would have taken for Edgar to get his hands on it was frightening.

’I can’t rule out the possibility of Hera deliberately passing it to me.’

But then again, he couldn’t find a motive behind it.

Edgar turned his head towards Andrew, who was riding the horse.

"Do you know about the conflict between the Yamhad Clan and the Northern Sect?"

Andrew glanced over his shoulder and nodded his head.

"My father once told me about them."

He refreshed his memories before continuing.

"Actually, both the Yamhad Clan’s ancestor and the Northern Sect’s first Sect Master created the Soragon Bazaar.

They lived in harmony for a long time, but in the last fifty years, the Northern Sect began to assert dominance over the Soragon Bazaar.

They wanted to control the whole Bazaar. Naturally, the Yamhad Clan decided to retaliate, and because of this they are always killing each other."

"I see." Edgar nodded his head, looking up at the murky fog. "And what about Lady Hera being pursued by the Northern Sect?"

"I heard the current Sect Master of the Northern Sect wants his son to marry her." Andrew shifted in his seat. "But the Yamhad Clan is against it."

’Looks like things are much more complicated than I anticipated.’

Edgar thought, rubbing his chin.

’Perhaps that’s why Maid Reeba was so loud. She was worried about Hera.’

Shifting his gaze back to the jade, Edgar let out a sigh.

’Evsn though it was just luck...for such an incredible gift, I will try to repay you when I am strong enough.’

Clenching his hand, Edgar closed his eyes to get some rest.

---

When there was only an hour left before the descent of the Eternal Night, Edgar and Andrew reached the fortress.

Old man Oswald quickly walked over to greet them.

"Welcome back, young master!"

The withering man bowed with difficulty.

"I am glad you came back without any problems."

Edgar patted the old man’s back and smiled. "Good to see you again."

On the other hand, Viera was hugging her son with all her might.

Even though she hadn’t shown it before, she had been worried sick about her son.

After losing her husband, he was all she had left.

The blonde boy removed the saddle from the horse’s back and tied him to a pole.

Andrew quickly put the bags of rice and wheat inside the house he shared with Viera.

Things related to food was kept in their house for now.

’I need to create a storage room for food and meat.’

Edgar put that thought in the back of his mind and picked up the main items, which were the Cold Iron Ore, parchment, the two Nightmare Shards, some ink, and a quill.

Bringing everything into his house, the boy stretched his body and fixed his hair.

’I still have some time before the Eternal Night descends.’ ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Sitting on the bed, Edgar took the wood parchment and the quill.

He was planning to confirm his hypothesis as soon as possible.

’I really hope this works....’

Taking in a deep breath, he decided to create a simple chicken coop first.

It was the easiest thing he could make and something that could be used as soon as possible.

Edgar laid the wooden parchment flat on the bed.

Dipping the quill into the ink, he began to write.

Lines began appearing across the page.

With his experience, it was hard to use the quill but he could still manage.

A simple rectangular structure began to take shape on the parchment.

Slowly, Edgar began to add things from his memories.

A slanted roof so water wouldn’t stay on top, raised flooring for the chickens, a nesting area, and ventilation openings near the roof.

It was just a basic chicken coop designed to protect birds from predators and bad weather.

The design wasn’t particularly advanced by modern standards, but compared to the crude livestock pens in this world, it might as well have been revolutionary.

Thirty minutes passed, and the sky outside gradually darkened.

A faint glow from the Unbroken Fire illuminated the fortress through the window.

Finally, Edgar put down the quill as a blueprint lay before him.

’Moment of truth.’

He picked up the completed parchment and looked at his system screen.

As time passed, nothing happened.

Seconds turned into minutes, but the screen didn’t change.

Edgar let out a sigh.

’...What a stupid--’

Just as he was about to throw the blueprint aside--

The parchment suddenly trembled.

Words slowly appeared on his system screen.

Words that were much different from those he had seen from the Smithing House blueprint.
