Chapter 207: The Abyss Battlefield, Shocking the Experts! Holy War Of the Past, endless horde of darkspawns
Caelus’s and Sylvia’s vision cleared, and the following moment, they were standing directly in what appeared to be a warzone.
"Is it like the one we went through during our Iron II ascension?" Sylvia couldn’t help but ask.
"Hm. It’s not like that, I think." Caelus looked around. He saw many soldiers adorned in a white knight dress, and they also had matching capes.
And all of them exhibited powerful auras.
It matched them closely.
Just then, a man who had noticed the two came forward.
"What are you both doing here, new recruits?" He asked hurriedly. "Go get changed. The Holy War is underway. The army of the Hollow King is already here. We are here in the Abyss, the illusory world where our powers are at their highest with no suppression, to put an end to him and his darkspawns."
"We are here in the name of all gods that oversee The Domain of Gods."
"Oh, is that so?" Caelus nodded in acknowledgment.
Ascension quests were like this.
You must be in character, and if you aren’t, then it could end up in trouble, and if you deny them, then the ascension quest could fail.
There was a reason why there were countless people that failed the quests.
Of course, they could act in their own interest if the tides of the scenario could be changed by them acting. In fact, the domain rewards you if you do that.
The seriousness of the quest was never applied to Caelus and Sylvia since they both were walking cheats.
They both quickly went into the changing quarters and got dressed.
Caelus wore his holy knight uniform. It seemed like there was some sort of compression power at work, it swiftly became perfectly and tightly fit for his body, and he wore a chestplate over it.
He then swiftly left the male changing quarters to see Sylvia coming out at the same time.
Seeing him, Sylvia gave him a charming smile and winked. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"How do I look, hubby~" She asked in an eager tone.
Caelus examined her closely. He said nothing but gave her a thumbs up with an awed expression.
She wore a similar tight fitting uniform to his along with the chestplate. The only difference was that she wore a mini flared white skirt and white knee stockings, elevating her charm to a whole new level.
Sylvia smiled affectionately seeing this and gave him a kiss.
However, just then, a stern voice cut through the hall.
"You both, what are you doing?" A lady wearing the same knight uniform as them but with a badge signifying a higher rank walked over. "You still have time for love and affection while a holy war is going on?"
"Get your asses to the frontlines, NOW!" She shouted, making the other soldiers shiver in fright. "Soldiers are losing their lives left and right and you are here, acting like lovers after a prom night."
"How do you know about prom nights?" Caelus was taken aback.
An even more annoyed look appeared on the lady’s face.
"Both of you, come with me." She said sternly and turned back, walking forward.
Caelus looked at this helplessly.
Sylvia giggled softly, clearly enjoying this. In fact, she wanted to sneak in a few more kisses without the lady watching.
In the end, they were forced into a flying ship by the lady and taken to the frontlines along with her.
Not the frontlines for the fodders, but the frontlines for the experts.
The lady probably wanted to teach Caelus and Sylvia a lesson by showing them the gruesome battlefield.
As soon as they arrived, several people with similar badges as the lady came forward.
"Who are these two?" They asked in confusion.
"I brought them here to show them the real frontlines." The lady said with a snort.
The lady then turned to Caelus and Sylvia, who had their eyes glued to the battlefield.
"Do you see that?" The lady inquired. "That is the real battlefield. As we speak, countless billions of darkspawns are rushing in towards this side."
"Those beings are the peak of Gold III in the abyss. They are ruthless and will gnaw at you without hesitation."
"There is no time for human emotion in this battlefield."
"You both are below the first sequence."
"It’s either be the killer or be killed." The lady spoke.
"Now ask yourself, can you both keep yourselves safe? Can you both handle that huge tide of beasts?"
However, contrary to the lady’s belief, Caelus and Sylvia said something that blew their minds away.
"Yes, we can." They both looked at each other and smiled.
"..." The lady’s face soured in an instant, clearly pissed.
However, just as she was about to say something, she saw Sylvia and Caelus turning into light and shooting straight towards the horde of endless darkspawns.
"???" Everyone’s faces visibly changed seeing this.
"D-Did they just fly?"
Boom!
The following moment, a massive multicolored explosion erupted from within the battlefield, the shockwave alone flattening every darkspawn within a hundred meters and kicking up a storm of dust and black ichor.
Caelus and Sylvia held their same grins as they charged deeper into the tide.
The darkspawns all cumulatively noticed them, and the moment they did, they rushed in with immense speed. The ground trembled under millions of claws, and their shrieks merged into a single deafening roar that shook the sky itself.
The sheer amount was something even thousands of Gold IIIs would dread.
But Caelus and Sylvia both possessed the Ascended Body.
They didn’t even need a weapon!
Boom!
With one fist, a darkspawn at the max combat score of Gold III shattered, its body bursting into black mist before it even registered the hit.
A second one lunged at his blind spot, jaws wide enough to swallow his head whole.
Caelus didn’t even turn.
His elbow snapped backward and caved its skull in mid-air. The corpse cartwheeled into the crowd behind it, bowling over a dozen more.
Three dropped from above with claws aimed at his neck. He stepped forward instead of back, grabbed the closest one by the leg, and swung it like a club.
Bang! Bang!
The makeshift weapon burst apart on the second swing, so he simply drove his knuckles into the next snarling face.
Crack!
To his eyes, the entire battlefield crawled in slow motion. A claw inching towards his ribs. A tail whipping at his ankles. A fang descending from above. He saw all of it, and his body answered faster than thought.
Sidestep. Punch. A darkspawn’s chest erupted.
Pivot. Punch. Another folded in half around his fist before bursting.
Duck. Uppercut. One was launched so high into the dark sky that it never came back down.
Every blow carried True Damage. Hide, bone, energy shields, none of it mattered. His bare hands went through them like wet paper.
Beside him, a darkspawn pounced at Sylvia’s back, and she spun on her heel and met it with a straight punch that turned its upper half into mist. Then crimson threads erupted from her fingertips, weaving between the horde like living snares. One flick of her wrist strung up hundreds of darkspawns mid-charge. Another flick, and they all fell apart in clean slices.
Roar!
A hulking darkspawn twice the size of the rest smashed through its own kin to reach Caelus, its combat score sitting at the absolute peak of Gold III. Its claw came down like a guillotine.
Caelus met it head on with his fist.
BOOM!
The claw shattered on impact. Before it could even shriek, Caelus was already inside its guard. A jab snapped its head sideways. A hook caved in its ribs. A body blow lifted the entire hulking mass off the ground.
Then he twisted his hips and threw everything into one final straight punch.
The darkspawn detonated like a bomb, the shockwave clearing a crater of open ground around him.
On the distant platform, the lady’s jaw hung open. The experts beside her had long forgotten how to speak. Two new recruits were carving a bleeding canyon through a tide that entire armies feared, with nothing but their fists.
More and more darkspawns rolled in on them, not giving them a breather.
But they didn’t need it.
Their auras churned rapidly as they got completely absorbed in the battle. Every punch was a thunderclap. Every step painted the Abyss in gold and crimson.
The endless tide kept coming.
And the two of them only grinned wider.
