Chapter 1291: Chapter 88: Dance of Demons (Part 3)

The Undead were just about to say something when a forceful power struck their hearts, compelling them to stop in their tracks. Their figures began to distort and withdraw, and Serey, among them, experienced the same sensation.

"This is... a distorted path!"

Just as Serey identified the nature of the power, his figure began to rapidly distort and collapse, disappearing from the spot. The same thing happened to the other Undead one after another, and they reappeared in their respective rooms.

Bode, holding a long spear, sat on the bed and looked around at the familiar arrangement of the room. He immediately got up to try and leave, but this time, the door was locked tight, not budging no matter how hard he pounded on it.

"Wei’Er..." Bode softly called out.

In one collapsing vortex after another, the black cat’s figure began to blur, unaffected by the power of the distorted path as if it were an illusion.

It watched member after member getting sent back, while it barely dodged the power’s influence with its Secret Energy, and as Wei’Er landed, she instantly hid in the shadows, silent and unnoticed.

Wei’Er wanted to know what was happening.

Sai Zong sealed all the doors; each Undead had to obediently stay in their own rooms. The pervasive smell of blood vanished, and the surging murderous intent calmed down as well.

Space reconstructed again, and a few dozen seconds later, the scarlet battlefield disappeared, replaced by a familiar bar counter. Everything just now seemed like an illusion.

The Astronaut felt a bit surprised; he hadn’t expected that, after so many years, Sai Zong could truly control his emotions.

In the silence, Sai Zong said softly, "Does death really end it all?"

This time, it was the Astronaut who was silent.

"For the Devil, death is just a phase. They will always awaken after falling, that one may not be you anymore, yet it is you, like a strange isomer," Sai Zong said sadly.

"The unfortunate destiny hasn’t ended; it just becomes another poor soul’s burden."

"So I want to completely end it all."

The Astronaut said excitedly, "I don’t mean erasing a will and replacing it with a new one, but true, absolute, complete death."

"To utterly end this dark destiny."

Sai Zong stared blankly at the Astronaut, trying to see any expression in the writhing darkness, but there was only void, nothing at all.

After a while, this time it was Sai Zong who laughed.

"You’re much more amusing than I am, Leviathan."

Sai Zong laughed so hard he had tears and wiped them away, "A Devil seeking destruction... it’s not just self-destruction; it’s the annihilation of all Devils.

If what you said is true, did you persuade Asmodeus, Belphegor? Since when did Devils become so noble?"

"I certainly couldn’t persuade them," the Astronaut said earnestly, "so I deceived them."

"As for why I’m confessing all this to you..."

The Astronaut placed his hands on his helmet, twisted it forcefully, and removed it entirely.

"I just feel that among the Devils, you might be the only one who understands me."

From the shadows, the black cat crept closer. It first saw Sai Zong, mottled with scars and burned red, wounds cracked, spilling lava-like light.

In front of Sai Zong was a strange man wearing a bulky diving suit who removed his helmet in front of Sai Zong. Wei’Er tried to see his face, but Sai Zong’s head just rightly blocked it, and only an endless stream of black particles flowed out.

"I’m truly sincere, Sai Zong,"

Leviathan whispered, "Is this enough to move you to let me meet him?"

Sai Zong answered Leviathan with action. He raised his hand, and the writhing space enveloped the two, collapsing and disappearing from the spot.

Wei’Er leaped out of the shadows, sniffing the lingering smell on the ground, only catching a stinging scent of sulfur.
