Chapter 1290: Chapter 88: Demonic Revelry (Part 2)
The astronaut glanced around again, muttering to himself, "The Undying Club, it’s a fitting name indeed."
"This place is not some retirement home or safe haven, but a prison, a prison holding the Undead. In this ludicrous tranquility, you will experience the pains of life in your endless remaining years, without liberation."
The astronaut continued, "Oh... there is a way to liberate yourselves—death is good, but do you really have the courage to face death?"
"Haha."
The astronaut’s mocking laughter grew louder, shaking the heavens and earth.
The stairwell trembled as well, and the members sleeping peacefully in their rooms were awakened one after another. Initially dazed, they hadn’t escaped their dreams, but once they fully realized their reality, they all emitted woeful screams.
"You stand like you’re on the edge of a cliff, with no road forward nor retreat, fierce winds slicing your skin, flocks of eagles tearing your flesh apart, you will endure nearly eternal pain.
Fortunately, liberation is right before your eyes."
The astronaut narrated freely, and in his rumbling voice, the stairwell became agitated as one bizarre entity after another stepped out of their rooms, wanting to know who had disturbed their peaceful slumber.
Dim lights cast dull beams, doors swung open one after another, and hurried footsteps echoed in the dark, as the bizarre beings hurriedly sprinted through the corridors.
Another door swung open, and Serey, reeking of booze, looked outside with displeasure. After all these years at the Undying Club, it was the first time he’d been awakened by someone. He wanted to know what was happening, yet he saw countless monsters filling the corridor.
The first to catch his eye was a towering monster, bulging muscles, appearing strong and savage. It had a massive head, covered in sharp horns, fierce eyes that chilled the spine, and skin so rough it seemed made of rock, producing a constant scratching noise.
Serey gulped, his mind clearing a bit, and then another monster came into view—a twisted, deformed body resembling a gigantic vine, entangled with sharp thorns and tentacles, irregular patterns crisscrossing its skin like an endless twisted symphony. Eyes lacking pupils, only a pitch-black abyss.
Another monster had multiple heads, arranged in a row, each gazing in different directions, each head with a shattered visage, revealing sharp teeth from the cracks, exuding endless malice.
The monsters’ steps were fast and hurried, as if chasing or fleeing from some invisible threat, their bodies emitting suffocating stench, filling the corridor, while an indescribable sense of fear spread in the air, making one’s skin crawl.
At this point, Serey realized something was wrong. This was the Undying Club, who could shake this place, even awake these old geezers who had slumbered for centuries?
"It’s the first time I’ve seen so many people."
After scanning the area with an offending gaze, Serey, knowing he couldn’t hide in the room as a bartender of the Undying Club, joined the eerie parade with his scarlet eyes emitting a faint glow.
At the same time, the Undying Club was undergoing transformation. The narrow corridors began to widen, almost as wide as multiple lanes, doors repeatedly opening, nearly everyone awakening.
The entire scene was shrouded in an eerie and oppressive atmosphere, with distorted paintings on the walls, rustling doors and windows, and dim corridors that were nearly lightless, save for occasional weak lights seeping through cracks, making the monsters’ forms even more twisted and grotesque, as if emerged from Hell.
"Wei’Er, Bode."
Serey called softly, seeing the two joining the parade from the other side.
At the time, Bode held a mottled spear, Wei’Er stood on his shoulder, her cat eyes emitting strange light, layers of invisible power enveloping Bode.
The bizarre parade continued, with various strange monsters joining in, grotesque and stunning, leaping, soaring, enacting a terrifying and twisted theatrical performance, the music distorted and noisy, accompanied by terrifying screams and roars.
Demons dancing wildly.
The changes at the Undying Club persisted, the spiral stairwell became a long staircase, the original bar area expanded further, and amidst rapid transformation, bonfires were lit, weapon racks replaced wine racks, wooden floors covered by sand and dirt, distant shouts rose, and the pervasive scent of alcohol was replaced by a heavy stench of blood.
After many years, Sai Zong once more saw the Land of Unceasing, though it was not his desire.
The astronaut looked at the Undead approaching him, continuing to rebuke them.
"Death is the liberation from all this, within reach, but you are a bunch of cowards; compared to death, you prefer to endure this eternal pain."
The strange laughter continued, and Sai Zong raised his hand, making a gesture to stop, aiming at the approaching Undead.
Sai Zong said, "Stop."
The Undead paused, most of them had joined during the Undying Club period, those aware of the Land of Unceasing had long perished in endless warfare.
Naturally, they were also unaware of who owned the Undying Club, even their understanding of its rules was vague.
