Chapter 84: Ren vs Alice
Ren shifted into his partial transformation and charged at Alice. But before he could attack her, two crystal shards shot toward him at high speed.
He moved to the side to avoid them.
When he tried to get closer again, another crystal shard flew toward him.
Alice knew she would be at a disadvantage in close combat, so she would not let him get close to her.
Since normal methods didn’t work, Ren decided to attack her soul.
*Roar...
Lily’s soul shook as shockwaves made her long silver hair sway wildly.
Not only her, but the onlookers also suffered the same fate.
However, the impact was weaker because his roar was aimed at her, and their ranks were higher than his.
’A chance!’
Ren used the Tiger Leaps skill and transformed his right arm into that of a tiger.
Despite being in a tight situation, Alice didn’t panic.
Once her soul stabilized, she raised her staff and used defensive magic.
’Crystal Shield.’
A blue shield materialized before her, protecting her and stopping his attack.
But it didn’t last long.
His strike was too powerful for the shield to withstand, so it shattered into pieces immediately.
Alice quickly took a long step back to put some distance between them. The moment she landed on the arena floor, she activated the Crystal Shard magic to attack him.
However, none of her strikes managed to hit him.
Ren’s speed and reflexes were amazing. Coupled with his tiger instinct, it was not hard for him to avoid her relentless attacks.
While Alice was fighting Ren fiercely, Ryven gripped his fists tightly.
She still hadn’t gained the advantage in the fight, so he started to feel worried.
’She won’t lose, right?’
She was his only hope since he knew how weak Axel’s lackeys were.
At the same time, Aria was paying attention to the battle carefully. Ren was someone who awakened both paths, so she had been curious about him.
"He is not bad." Aria was quite satisfied with his performance.
"Leader, he is still not serious yet." Cassandra had sparred with him several times, so she could tell he hadn’t gone all out.
Aria turned to her. "How do you know about that?"
Instead of answering, Cassandra asked, "Leader, have you forgotten that he is a special awakener?"
"Ah, that’s right," Aria remembered that he had awakened both paths.
"I will tell him to get serious now." After saying that, Cassandra returned her attention to the arena and shouted, "Ren, stop playing around. I’m bored here."
Ren stopped attacking Alice and looked at Cassandra. "Alright."
"What does that mean? Have you really not given your all?" Alice was surprised and unhappy at the same time because she felt like Cassandra was looking down on her.
Not only her, but the onlookers were also stunned.
Ren didn’t look like he was playing around, so they didn’t understand the meaning of her words.
He stored his daggers and raised his right hand forward. "This is what she meant."
A blue magic circle appeared before his palm, and in an instant, a bolt of lightning burst forth, tearing through the air and flying toward her.
Alice’s eyes widened as a wave of shock hit her.
’Magic? He can use magic, too?!’
When his strike was about to hit her, she came to her senses and leaped to the right to avoid it. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
However, Ren had anticipated it, so the moment she landed on the arena ground, two lightning chains shot toward her, binding her hands and locking her in place.
Before she could free herself, Ren rushed toward her and retrieved his weapon from his space ring.
"You lost," Ren said as he pressed his sword lightly against her neck.
*Silence...
The entire area suddenly turned into a dead silence.
Some people opened their mouths in shock, while others rubbed their eyes to make sure it was real.
"Hey, do you see what I see?"
"Yeah. That female mage is being bound by lightning chains."
"Isn’t he a shifter like us? How could he use magic, too?"
"Wait! Don’t tell me..."
"He awakened both paths?!"
"So, it’s not a myth?!"
"I see! I see! I finally understand Instructor Cassandra’s words now."
"So this is what she meant."
They never expected to have a junior who awakened both paths.
"What?! He is also a mage?!" Axel’s lackeys said in surprise.
Ren had never used magic when they fought, so they thought he was only a powerful shifter.
"Magic?! He used magic?!" Ryven clenched his fists in fury.
Not only did Alice lose the fight, but Ren turned out to be a mage as well.
It was like he was humiliating them with their own specialty.
"Do you believe me now, leader?" Cassandra was not surprised.
Even though she acknowledged Alice’s power, she was still far from being his match.
She even had to get a little serious when they sparred, so it was impossible for Alice to defeat Ren.
"Impressive! Truly impressive!" Aria was amazed by his skills, especially his ability to predict his opponent’s movements.
"Now you know how amazing the person I brought into our faction is." Cassandra grinned proudly.
Aria didn’t say anything and only glanced at her.
"Well done, Ren!" David rose from his seat and gave him a thumbs-up.
"Do you admit defeat?" Ren asked.
Alice let out a sigh before finally answering, "Yes. I lost."
Once he deactivated his magic, she walked off the arena.
Ren shifted his gaze to Axel’s lackeys and said, "Your group has already lost twice. At this point, your chances of winning are close to zero."
He then continued, "But since we are a kind organization, I will give you an opportunity to turn the tables. All four of you step into the arena and face me together. If I lose, you win this spar. Do you dare to accept my challenge?"
The onlookers were stunned by his decision.
They knew he was not an ordinary awakener, but they never expected him to challenge four mages at once.
"Haha." Cassandra burst into waves of laughter.
Like them, she also liked his boldness.
And from her point of view, this was one of the best ways to humiliate them.
Aria turned to David and the others. "Are you fine with this?"
"Yes," they answered in unison.
They were not worried at all.
Ren could defeat them in a spar, so they believed he could handle them easily.
Axel’s lackeys gritted their teeth in fury.
Even though he seemed like he was trying to help them, they knew he was actually underestimating them.
’Should we accept it?’
They exchanged glances with each other.
Like Rian’s group, Ryven was also furious.
Both Nexus and Aether were Pillar Organizations, yet here, Ren had the audacity to look down on them, so rage flowed through him like lava.
’What should I do?’
He was not sure Axel’s lackeys could defeat him since he was much stronger than Alice.
"Hmm? Why didn’t you answer my question? Are you afraid of me?" Ren tried to provoke them.
"Damn it!" Luka cursed venomously.
"Haha! What a coward!"
"Hey, should we make a post about this later?"
"Ah! That’s a great idea! Let’s write a quote that says the mages of the Nexus Organization are all cowards! I’m sure it will go viral."
"Haha."
They joined in.
Axel’s lackeys took the bait, but Ryven didn’t.
Even though he was filled with anger, he still didn’t act recklessly, as he also needed to think about their reputation.
"I refuse! This goes against our agreement." After thinking carefully, Ryven decided to reject it.
He knew it would make them look like cowards, but it was the best choice. After all, they would be even more humiliated if they accepted the challenge and lost the fight.
Members of the Aether Organizations mocked them once more. This was a golden opportunity to insult them, so they didn’t let it slip away.
Ryven clenched his fists as their words reached his ears.
But even so, he didn’t do anything and only stared at them because he was in their place.
"Ren, get down from the arena. We will resume the battle now." Aria said.
Ren listened and returned to his seat.
"Which of you wants to go down to the arena next?" Cassandra let them decide.
"Me!" David stood up. "My hands are itching to beat them up. I won’t be able to sleep well tonight if I miss this battle."
Virelia and Elara immediately cheered him up.
Once he was in the center of the fight zone, David placed his hands on his waist. "Come here. I can’t wait to beat you up."
"So arrogant!" Luka and the others said angrily.
"Vito, go and fight him." Ryven chose Vito as he was the strongest among them.
Vito immediately headed to the arena.
The moment Aria told them to fight, David turned into his partial transformation and charged at Vito.
Vito quickly used his Earth Golem magic to support him.
At first, he had the upper hand, but it didn’t last long as David had found a way to handle both him and his golem.
Bang!
David kicked Vito’s chest hard, sending him flying into the air.
Before Vito could fall to the arena floor, David rushed toward him and launched another powerful attack.
"Aagghh!" blood splashed out of Vito’s mouth as his body was slammed into the arena.
David didn’t stop there.
He attacked Vito relentlessly as if Vito were his arch enemy.
Once Vito was unconscious, David stopped and raised his right hand high. "I won! Haha!"
