Chapter 343: Chapter 320: Stabbing a Friend Twice, Trouble or Not
The Black Cat panicked. He didn’t want to die.
His gaze shifted to Wen Ying, and the Kobold noticed. "This human is your accomplice, right?"
"Men, seize them both!"
In an instant, the NPCs surrounded Wen Ying and the Black Cat.
Wen Ying sighed. "Oh, Little Black, what’s the use of saying all that? Don’t you get it? In a situation like this, he doesn’t care if you’re innocent. He just wants a scapegoat."
The Black Cat looked at Wen Ying, confused. "You can vouch for me. I didn’t eat the food. Please, vouch for me."
Wen Ying couldn’t tell if the Black Cat was being stupid or what. "What good would it do if I vouched for you? This Lord Dog Head of yours has already branded us as accomplices. He won’t believe a word I say, nor does he want to. After all, if he can’t catch the thief, he’s the one who’ll be punished. It seems the punishments in this mental hospital are pretty terrifying, huh? So you’re destined to be his scapegoat. How could he possibly allow you to be proven innocent?"
[I thought only our world was full of conspiracies and backstabbing. Who knew it happened in a place like this, too?]
The Kobold stared at them. "Stop making excuses. The evidence is irrefutable."
"Stop! Don’t touch me," Wen Ying said to the NPCs closing in on her. "Do you have any idea who I am?"
"And who’s that?"
"I’m the mental hospital’s cleaner!"
The NPCs were speechless.
’Okay, they got it. With a mental state like that, she was probably just another nutcase, not a cleaner.’
"If you seize me, who’s going to clean the mental hospital? I know the Warden has guests coming for an inspection soon. If there are any problems with the cleanliness, who do you think will be punished? None of you will escape the consequences!"
The Kobold frowned. ’She... actually has a point.’
’At a critical time like this, cleanliness had to be guaranteed.’
"Lord Dog Head, I... I can help clean too!" the Black Cat stammered.
But the Black Cat’s words just gave the Kobold another idea.
"If you’re dead, someone else can do the cleaning!" the Kobold said, looking at Wen Ying with a vicious glare.
Wen Ying sighed and looked at the Black Cat. "Little Black, you’re really more trouble than you’re worth! Honestly... I had almost succeeded, and then you had to say that. Now look what you’ve done. We’re both going to be dragged off and buried alive."
The Black Cat glared at Wen Ying angrily. "Didn’t you say we were friends? In the human world, friends are supposed to stick together through thick and thin, right? Were you lying to me?"
Wen Ying shook her head. "You’re wrong, Little Black. Do you even know what a friend is?"
"What?" The Black Cat wracked his brain for answers, but he felt sure he hadn’t gotten it wrong. ’It has to be what I said!’
’This human never saw me as a friend!’
’Deceitful human!’
’I’ll never trust a human again!’
"A friend? That’s someone who’d take a knife for you when things are fine. But when trouble hits? They’re the one who stabs you. Twice. That’s the true essence of friendship. You’ve only learned the shallowest parts of human culture."
[LMAO! Doctor Wen’s explanation is spot-on! Isn’t that the real meaning of friendship?!]
[Stabbing your friends twice, with or without reason, isn’t that just modern friendship? Something happened near me a few days ago. This guy was in a tough spot and needed money, but nobody would help him. Finally, he told his bro, and his bro gave him 50,000, no questions asked, no IOU, because they were that close. Three years later, the bro’s family runs into trouble and needs the money back. But the borrower makes all kinds of excuses, saying he’s broke and can’t repay it. But then the bro literally sees him taking his wife to a jewelry store to buy her a new necklace—one of those that cost over 10,000.
When he got caught, the guy had the nerve to ask his bro to his face why he was pressuring him. ’Is there an IOU? What proof do you have that you gave me tens of thousands?’ He just kept yelling until he was straight-up denying he ever borrowed the money and even threatened to sue his bro for fraud!
If karma doesn’t get a guy like that, then the heavens must be blind!
What happened in the end was the bro found the original bank transfer record and sued him with it as evidence.
These days, ’brotherhood’ is just bullshit!]
[First I couldn’t take the word ’bestie’ seriously, and now ’friend’ is ruined too?]
[Speaking of besties, the most common drama I see is one bestie stealing the other’s boyfriend. I really can’t stand to watch it!]
[Even parents will sell their own kids for money. What’s left to believe in in this world? Don’t trust anyone but yourself!]
[Folks, you can always trust Doctor Wen’s stream!]
