Chapter 134: Chapter 134: My Wife is Amazing

"Don’t drink too much. You have a shoot tomorrow," Sophie Shaw reminded her.

Nina Halloway nodded. "I know. You should head back."

"I’m heading out then."

"Have Ethan walk you down."

"No need."

Sophie Shaw stood up. When Ethan Austin saw she was leaving, he stepped forward to walk her out, but Anne quickly stopped him.

"I’ll see her out. You keep an eye on Nina."

Anne shot her brother a warning look, afraid that her boundary-less brother would take the opportunity to hit on a married woman.

She linked arms with Sophie Shaw and walked out of the private room. She escorted her all the way to the elevator, and after a moment’s thought, followed her inside.

"You don’t have to walk me any further. Just take good care of Nina. Don’t let her drink herself to death."

Anne nodded. "I’ll just see you to your car, then I’ll head back."

"Alright."

She let Anne keep her arm linked with hers, and the two of them rode the elevator down together.

After leaving the club, Anne walked Sophie Shaw to her Cayenne. She watched Sophie get into the car, then after a moment of hesitation, she couldn’t help but ask, "Sophie, are things still good between you and Alaric Blackwood?"

Sophie Shaw lowered the driver’s side window and smiled at Anne. "They’re great. Why the sudden question?"

"That contract you signed..."

"There’s no contract anymore."

Anne froze, not immediately understanding what "there’s no contract anymore" meant.

"The contract has been destroyed. From now on, there’s no such thing as a contract."

Anne was still confused. "So you and Alaric Blackwood..."

"We’re really married." freeweɓnovel.cøm

Anne blinked her round eyes. "Really married?"

"Yes."

Sophie Shaw’s cheeks flushed slightly. Instead of starting the car, she leaned on the car window and whispered to Anne, "I think I’m starting to like Alaric Blackwood."

Anne covered her mouth, shocked and delighted. "Does that mean I can officially ship you two now?"

"Haven’t you been shipping us this whole time?"

"You were in a contract marriage before, so I was holding back. By the way, why was the contract destroyed?"

"We breached the contract on our wedding night. Both of us did."

Anne gasped. "So you two slept..."

A sudden, sharp ring from a cell phone cut Anne off.

It was Sophie Shaw’s phone. The caller was Alaric Blackwood.

"He’s calling."

Anne chuckled. "Well, I won’t disturb you two then."

She waved at Sophie Shaw and ran back into the club.

Sophie Shaw raised the window and answered the call.

"I told you to go to sleep. What are you doing running around so late at night?"

Alaric Blackwood didn’t ask where she was, as if he already knew.

"I was just about to head back. I’m in the car now."

"Drive safe."

"Okay."

...

It was very late by the time she returned to Maplewood Estate.

Sophie Shaw walked into the house and found Alaric Blackwood waiting for her on the living room sofa. Remembering her conflict with Damian Morgan and the two slaps she’d received, she let down her pinned-up hair, using it to hide one side of her face.

"I’m home."

She changed her shoes in the entryway, saying, "It’s late. You should go to your room and get some sleep."

Alaric Blackwood stood up and walked toward her. She turned her head away, not daring to look him in the eye.

"Why did you let your hair down?"

He remembered her hair had been tied up when she left.

"The hair tie broke."

Alaric Blackwood glanced down and saw the black hair tie wrapped around her wrist. Without a second thought, he grabbed her hand. "It looks fine to me. How is it broken?"

Caught in her lie, Sophie Shaw felt a little awkward.

The more she avoided looking at Alaric Blackwood, the stranger he found it.

"Turn your face. Look at me."

"..."

"Sophie Shaw, what happened?"

Alaric Blackwood sensed something was wrong. He reached out, took her chin in his hand, and forced her to face him. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

His fingers brushed aside the long hair covering the side of her face, only to reveal a red handprint on her cheek. Half her face was already swollen.

His brow furrowed instantly. "Who did this?"

"Damian Morgan."

"Weren’t you at the club? How did you run into Damian Morgan?"

"He just happened to be there."

Alaric Blackwood clenched his back teeth, his jawline tightening. "Is he still there now?"

"I’m not sure. He probably went to the hospital."

"The hospital?"

"I hit him over the head with an ashtray. He was bleeding."

Hearing this, the tight line of Alaric Blackwood’s lips slowly curved into a smile. He led Sophie Shaw to the living room, sat her down on the sofa, then turned to get an ice pack to press against her swollen cheek.

"Well done."

Praised so suddenly, Sophie Shaw broke into a smile too. "You’re the one who said if he provoked me, I should hit back hard."

"My wife is amazing."

Alaric Blackwood didn’t hold back his praise for her.

"I was worried he’d call the police, so I even wiped my fingerprints off the ashtray," Sophie Shaw added, as if presenting a treasure.

The smile in Alaric Blackwood’s eyes deepened. He held the ice pack to her cheek with one hand, and with the other, he gently pinched her other cheek. "My wife is so smart."

Sophie Shaw was so pleased with the praise she couldn’t stop grinning, her cheeks turning bright red.

"Since my wife is so amazing, I’ll reward you by letting you sleep with me tonight."

"Huh?"

"It’s a reward."

"That’s... not necessary, is it?"

’Sleep with Alaric Blackwood? Could he really behave himself?’

Sophie Shaw didn’t believe it for a second.

She took the ice pack from his hand and stood up, intending to slip upstairs and hide in her room. But she had barely taken a step when he grabbed her wrist and wrapped his arms around her from behind.

"Where are you running?"

The man rested his chin in the crook of her neck, his voice low and husky. "I said it’s your reward. Can’t you be a little more cooperative?"

"It’s not Friday."

"Who said we were going to do anything?"

"You don’t keep your word."

"Do I?"

"Yes."

Alaric Blackwood’s arms were wrapped around her waist, his thin lips closing in on her earlobe. He gave it a light bite. "I’m a man in my prime. My needs are... significant. I hope my wife can understand."

Sophie Shaw’s heart began to race. She tried to pull away from Alaric Blackwood, but he just pulled her back against him.

The world spun around her. By the time she came to her senses, Alaric Blackwood had her pinned on the soft sofa.

A forceful, domineering kiss descended upon her, and she was completely enveloped by his overwhelming masculine scent.

While kissing her, Alaric Blackwood didn’t forget to take the hand holding the ice pack and press it back against her cheek.

Kissing and icing, multitasking at its finest.

...

The next day, Sophie Shaw woke up to find herself in Alaric Blackwood’s room.

’I can’t believe I fell for it again.’

Alaric Blackwood’s advances were both gentle and domineering; she really couldn’t refuse him.

She sighed in frustration, rolled around on the bed a few times, and was in the middle of furiously kicking the blankets when Alaric Blackwood’s voice suddenly cut in.

"And what is my wife doing?"

At the sound of his voice, she froze. Turning her head, she saw Alaric Blackwood leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed.

She had no idea when he’d arrived or how long he’d been standing there. All she felt was a wave of embarrassment.

"I was... stretching my legs."

"You still have the energy to kick the blankets?" Alaric Blackwood chuckled. "It seems I wasn’t trying hard enough."

"..."

"Breakfast is ready. Time for my wife to get up."

Sophie Shaw mumbled an "oh." She was about to throw back the covers when she remembered she wasn’t wearing anything underneath. She jutted her chin at Alaric Blackwood, gesturing for him to get out.

Not only did Alaric Blackwood not leave as told, he took long strides toward her instead.

"What are you doing?"

"Helping you get dressed."

"No need, I can dress myself."

"Why are you being shy? Is there any part of you I haven’t seen?"

Alaric Blackwood laughed, whipping away the blanket she was wrapped in. He grabbed both of her ankles with his large hands and effortlessly pulled her to the edge of the bed.
