Chapter 90: Chapter 90; No one will stand in my way

Emily’s POV

A jagged laugh escaped from Ilya, a smug smirk plastering her face. I watched her closely, letting her vanity feed into my plans.

"You did a great job coming into their lives," I told her smoothly.

"It’s all thanks to you," Ilya replied without hesitation, completely oblivious.

I took the credit with a soft sigh, tilting my head. "I just can’t imagine how shocked Alina must feel... knowing there is someone who came for Lucian. And not just anyone, but someone as great and powerful as you are." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

At the mention of Alina, the smugness on Ilya’s face faltered. "Alina isn’t what I expected her to be."

My smile faded instantly. "What do you mean by that?"

"She could have almost died easily," Ilya muttered, her brow furrowing. "But she didn’t."

"I don’t understand," I said, a knot tightening in my stomach.

"She knows something she shouldn’t," Ilya explained slowly. "Whatever she used on me tonight is something no one is supposed to have access to. She tried to kill me with it."

A sharp wave of annoyance flickered through me. "You cannot be careless with these things," I told her, my voice dropping into a harsh warning. "You cannot let Alina win against you, no matter what."

A slow smile returned to Ilya’s lips. "She won’t. I love Lucian too much to lose him now. I’m going to win him back for good."

Hearing her say she loved Lucian made me incredibly uncomfortable. A cold spike of jealousy flared in my chest. I loved Lucian. There was absolutely no way in hell I was going to let this woman take him from me. I was simply using her as a pawn to get rid of Alina first.

"Is it ready then?" I asked coldly, shifting the subject.

"Yes," Ilya replied, her eyes darkening. "Tonight, it will happen. I will personally make sure Alina takes her last breath, and then it will all be done."

An evil smile crept onto my lips. I liked the sound of that. "Good. Now, what about my request? Something to use on Aiden. He has been disrespecting me for far too long, and I need to teach him a lesson."

Ilya smiled and handed me a small glass bottle. "Slip this into his water. He will have a massive, agonizing reaction to it." She then pulled out a second, smaller vial. "And use this afterward to cure him."

I took both bottles from her hand, a sweet smile masking my thoughts. "When I take over everything, I want you right beside me."

Ilya tilted her head, analyzing me. "Define beside you."

"Exactly where you belong," I said simply.

She gave a faint smile, completely satisfied. "You were the reason I managed to escape what I was trapped in, Emily. Of course I am indebted to you."

I nodded, pretending to care.

"I have to leave now," she said, turning on her heel and disappearing into the shadows.

The very second she was gone, the smile vanished from my face.

"You have absolutely no idea who you’re teaming up with," I murmured out loud to the empty room. My eyes darkened with cold malice. "Lucian will always be mine. Once I get exactly what I want, I’ll discard you and put you right where you belong."

Right in the same place as her dead parents.

Ilya truly believed Lucian was the one who ratted them out to the council all those years ago. But it was never Lucian. It was me. I had utterly hated that Lucian found solace with Ilya and her family. The moment I found out what illegal substances they were using, it was incredibly easy to anonymously report them and have them destroyed.

Ilya would never find out that I was the actual cause of her parents’ deaths.

Later that evening, I returned to the pack house and did exactly what Ilya had instructed. I quietly slipped the poisonous substance into Aiden’s coffee before carrying the mug into his study.

He was seated at his desk, looking exhausted.

"Aiden," I said softly, stepping into the room with a gentle, submissive expression. "I really don’t like the way things have been between us lately. I know I must have upset you."

I walked over and placed the warm coffee right in front of him.

Aiden exhaled a long breath, looking up at me. He picked up the mug and drank a large gulp without a single drop of hesitation.

"I went too far with my words too," he said, setting the mug down. "I’m sorry, Emily. You should forgive me."

"Of course," I replied sweetly, looking down at him. "After all, you are my husband." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

I turned around slowly and walked out of the study.

The moment I stepped into the hallway and out of his sight, my face shifted. A dark, wicked smirk spread across my lips as I listened to the quiet house.

"Now," I whispered to myself, a thrill of anticipation running down my spine. "I wait for you to suffer."

I turned on my heel and walked out of the study, pulling out my phone. It was time to check if Ilya had finished her part of the script. Alina needed to die tonight, and once she was out of the picture, I would finally begin the process of taking back what was rightfully mine.

Lucian would be mine, and no one—not a pathetic fated mate, and certainly not a naive witch—was going to stand in my way.

I stared at the screen as my phone buzzed in my hand. A message from Knox lit up the display.

My chest tightened with sudden, fierce irritation. Knox. He was becoming a liability, an annoying loose thread I hadn’t cleanly snipped away yet. He knew too much, and his constant presence was starting to threaten the perfect timeline of my plans.

If I wanted to secure Lucian and take over everything without any interference, I had to be absolute. I couldn’t afford to have someone like him pulling at the edges of my secrets.

I closed the message, my eyes darkening into a cold, calculating stare as I looked toward the shadows of the hallway.

I need to get rid of Knox for good. If I don’t eliminate him now, he will never let me be, and he will ruin everything I’ve built.
