Chapter 87: Chapter 87; He is with another woman
Aiden’s POV freeωebnovēl.c૦m
I paced the length of the room, my knuckles white as I clenched my fists in pure fury. The news of Lucian’s return had just reached me, and it made my blood boil. Ragnar had fooled me. He hadn’t killed Lucian at all, despite practically begging me for the chance.
With a loud growl, I swept my arm across the counter, shattering every glass and bottle into a hundred pieces against the floor.
The door opened, and Emily stepped inside, completely unfazed by the mess. "I’m not surprised you’re acting like this," she said, her voice hollow. "Honestly, I don’t even care anymore."
I scoffed, turning a glaring look toward her. "What the hell do you want, Emily?"
Suddenly, her composure cracked, and tears began to stream down her face. "I want the old Aiden back," she sobbed, breaking down right in front of me. "The one who actually cared for me. The one who loved me so much. You are a completely different person now." She gripped her stomach, her voice trembling. "I’m pregnant. I really thought this baby would give our love another chance, but all you ever think about is Alina. No one else matters to you. I am your wife, Aiden!"
"Shut up!" I screamed at her.
Emily flinched, a flash of pure fear crossing her eyes as she took a step back.
"Don’t start with your emotional nonsense because I don’t give a fuck," I snapped, refusing to pretend anymore. "I only want Alina. No one else. I married you because I thought it was the right thing to do at the time, but I regret it every single day. My life was so much better when Alina was in it. Maybe the Moon Goddess was right. I should have never married you."
The painful words hit her visibly, but I didn’t care. I felt absolutely nothing watching her cry.
Emily let out a bitter, watery half-laugh and aggressively wiped the tears from her cheeks. "Fine," she whispered, her voice hardening. "As soon as I give birth, I am leaving you."
I burst out laughing. "You won’t leave, Emily. We both know you love the power, the fortune, and the title of being Luna too much. You get to keep your precious position, but only if you stay out of my business and never play the victim in front of me again." I gestured toward the door. "Go freshen up. There is a party tonight and you are coming with me. You better put a happy face on, too. I don’t want anyone thinking I maltreat my pregnant wife."
She gave a tight, hollow smile and left the room without another word.
Once the door closed, I stared out the window, my jaw tight. "Lucian, don’t think this is over," I muttered out loud to the empty room. "I will get you. Alina is mine to love, and no one is taking her away from me."
An hour later, we were dressed and arriving at the venue. It was one of those rare, integrated parties where there was absolutely no discrimination. Banished wolves, rogues, and pack members all rubbed shoulders in the same room. I had always hated it. In my eyes, criminals shouldn’t have the right to walk freely among us. But the host was a former criminal who claimed he had been unfairly judged, so he believed everyone deserved a second chance.
"I see some old friends over there," Emily murmured beside me, her fake smile perfectly in place. "I’d like to go have a word with them."
"Go," I replied dismissively.
A server approached with a tray, and I took a glass of champagne. But just as I brought the glass to my lips, my hand froze. My eyes widened in absolute shock.
Standing across the room was Lucian.
But as my gaze scanned down to the woman standing tightly by his side, my confusion deepened. It wasn’t Alina.
What the hell is going on here? I thought to myself, lowering my glass.
I set my glass down on a passing tray and walked straight toward them. Lucian’s eyes met mine for a brief second, but to my surprise, he immediately tried to look away. That was new. Usually, he’d be glaring a hole right through me.
"I heard you were back," I said, stopping a few feet away as a cold smirk played on my lips. "Honestly, I thought the bounty on your head would have had you killed by now. But I guess I was wrong."
Lucian didn’t respond. He just stood there, his jaw clenched, staring right past me.
My attention shifted to the woman standing tightly at his side. I scanned her from head to toe. "Who is this?" I asked.
"I think it’s better you mind your own business, Aiden," Lucian finally spoke, his voice dropping into a low, dangerous warning. "Don’t speak to me. Unless you want things to get ugly here."
I let out a harsh scoff, stepping closer. "Go ahead. Try me. I won’t back down from a fight. A party like this needs to be shown that criminals aren’t supposed to be walking freely among us anyway," I added, my tone turning stern and uncompromising.
The woman finally stepped forward, a smooth, confident smile playing on her lips as she looked at me. "I am guessing you are the famous Alpha Aiden," she said, her voice entirely unfazed by the tension.
I narrowed my eyes at her. "Who the hell are you?"
She drew herself up, her smile widening. "I am Ilya. Lucian’s fiancée."
My eyes widened in absolute shock, my mind racing to make sense of what she had just said. Fiancée?
"Your what?" I asked, my voice dropping, all the amusement instantly draining from my face.
Ilya’s smile never wavered. She slid her arm through Lucian’s, pulling herself closer to his side. "His fiancée. We are getting married very soon."
My gaze snapped to Lucian, searching his face for any sign that this was a joke, a trick, or some pathetic stunt. But he remained entirely silent, his jaw clamped so tight a muscle ticked in his cheek, his eyes staring blankly ahead. A smirked played on my lips.
