Chapter 85: Chapter 85; Lucian is offlimit

Alina’s POV

"Lucian, what is she talking about?" I demanded, the words sticking in my throat. "What does she mean, fiancée?"

"Alina, I can explain—" Lucian started, his face pale.

"Lucian, who is this?" Ilya interrupted sharply, glaring at me.

Before he could speak, I stepped forward. "I am Lucian’s fated mate, and the love of his life. So who the hell are you?"

Ilya’s brows furrowed. She whipped her head toward Lucian. "What is she talking about? You told me you loved me!"

My eyes widened in absolute shock. I turned on Lucian, my heart shattering. "What game are you playing? Is this why you were gone for a week? Just to meet up with her?"

"No! Alina, no, I would never do that to you—"

"Lucian, you never told me you had someone else!" Ilya cut him off, her voice cracking as tears filled her eyes. "Why would you hurt me like this? You promised to marry me! You told me I’d have a good future with you, that you wouldn’t let me miss my family! What are you doing?"

"Ilya, please don’t cry, I will..." Lucian started, moving toward her.

"You will what?" I snapped.

Ilya stepped between us, glaring at me through her tears. "You need to back off. Lucian is marrying me. Whatever the two of you had ends right now."

I let out a bitter, disbelieving scoff. This was completely insane. "You know what? Go fuck yourself. Both of you."

I turned on my heel and stormed away. Lucian yelled my name, his heavy footsteps chasing me down the hall, but I didn’t stop. I threw open our bedroom door, marched straight to the wardrobe, and began violently ripping clothes off the hangers.

"Alina, please! Just listen to me!" Lucian begged, grabbing my hands desperately.

"I won’t be treated like a fool!" I yelled, pulling away from him, my voice dripping with pure irritation and betrayal. "I was stupid enough to think you were hurt or missing! But you were just lying in bed with another woman!"

"Please, just give me a second to explain—"

"I don’t want your explanations! Leave me alone!" I screamed, shoving another shirt into the bag. "I’m leaving with my son. You can be with whoever you want, I don’t give a shit anymore!"

"Alina, if you leave me, I will die," Lucian said, his voice cracking with pure, unadulterated desperation.

He reached for me again, trying to force me to look at him, but the sight of him made me snap. I began to fight him, throwing wild, furious punches at his chest. "You’re just like the rest of them! You’re no better!" I sobbed, hitting him repeatedly.

He didn’t even try to defend himself. He just let me hit him, taking the blows until, suddenly, he caught my wrists, leaned in, and crashed his lips against mine.

It was a frantic, desperate kiss. At first, I clenched my jaw, fighting against him and refusing to let his tongue in. But the familiar warmth of our bond flared beneath my skin. My walls crumbled, and I gave in, kissing him back just as fiercely.

We broke apart after a breathless minute, both of us panting.

"You are the only one for me," Lucian whispered frantically, his hands framing my face. "Ilya is crazy. I only told her those things because she was going to kill me. She abducted me, Alina. She has a power that can completely destroy an Alpha, something I can’t even explain. I didn’t want to die, because if I died, I would never get to see you again. I couldn’t bear the thought of an afterlife without you."

I stared at him, the anger freezing in my veins as the truth sank in. Before I could even process it, Lucian wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me so tightly it felt like he was afraid I would vanish if he let go.

"I love you, Alina. I love you so much," he chanted into my hair, his body trembling. "I love you."

"Lucian? What are you doing?"

Ilya’s cold voice shattered the moment. Slowly, reluctantly, we broke from the hug and turned to face the door.

"Lucian, whatever is going on here, I don’t like it," Ilya said, her tone dripping with pure irritation. "This wasn’t part of our deal."

She turned her sharp gaze directly to me, a smug smile on her face. "Lucian is mine, okay? It was always meant to be this way, so do yourself a favor and leave this house."

Lucian opened his mouth to speak, but I stepped right past him, cutting him off. I stared her down, refusing to show a single ounce of fear. "I am not the kind of woman to fight over a man," I told her coldly. "I don’t move that way, and I am definitely not desperate for attention. But Lucian will always be off-limits to you. I don’t care what kind of game you think you’re playing, but I won’t let you win." ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Ilya let out a jagged, mocking laugh. "You have absolutely no idea who I am or what I can do."

I didn’t flinch. But then, she lifted her hand.

A strange, blinding glow began to spark from her fingertips. My eyes widened slightly, a sudden chill running down my spine. Before I could even react, she lunged forward to strike me.

"Alina!" Lucian roared.

With a desperate burst of speed, he threw himself in front of me, shoving me violently out of the way. Ilya’s glowing strike hit him dead in the chest.

Lucian collapsed instantly, his entire body convulsing on the floor as if he were being brutally electrocuted by raw energy.

"Lucian!" I shrieked, my eyes wide with pure horror.

Tears blurred my vision as I scrambled across the floor to reach him. But before my fingers could touch his skin, Ilya slammed her hand into my shoulder, shoving me away with supernatural force.

I flew backward, the back of my head cracking hard against the floor. Pain exploded behind my eyes, and then, everything turned completely black.
