Chapter 486: Chapter 486: From This Moment On, I’ll Say I Love You (86)
"I’m sorry, I... I..."
Frightened, Tristan Grayson quickly let Mika Summers go and began to explain nervously. But before he could finish, Mika cut him off coldly. "Let’s just go home."
With that, Mika Summers got straight into the car and sat in the back seat.
Tristan Grayson glanced at the clothes on the ground, then back at her. A pained expression flashed in his eyes, and he grew even more frustrated with himself for what had just happened.
The two of them were silent the entire way, the atmosphere as tense as it could be.
The moment the car stopped in front of the house, Mika Summers opened her door and got out. Tristan Grayson, on the other hand, stayed in the car. His hand trembled slightly as he pulled a cigarette from his pocket and lit it.
He had just finished one cigarette and was about to light a second when his phone rang. Frowning, he put the unlit cigarette back in its case, pulled out his phone, and answered.
"Hello?"
"Young Master Grayson, this is Harvey Walsh, the owner of Vespera."
"Yes? What is it?"
"It’s about Master Jennings. He’s been here for about ten days now, just drinking day in and day out. I’m worried something bad will happen if he keeps this up. I was going to call Young Master Avery, but you know how it is with him..." Harvey’s voice trailed off.
Tristan Grayson’s brow furrowed. He replied coldly, "I understand. Keep an eye on him, and don’t let him have any more to drink. I’m on my way."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Tristan Grayson glanced toward the front door, let out a faint sigh, then started the car and drove away.
Meanwhile, Mika Summers had gone inside and waited on the sofa for a long time. When Tristan Grayson still hadn’t come in, she got up angrily to look for him. She opened the front door just in time to see his car driving away...
Furious, she slammed the door shut, then stormed back to the sofa and sat down.
「Vespera.」
When Tristan Grayson arrived, he found Cassian Jennings sprawled across a sofa, a liquor bottle in hand. The table was littered with empty bottles, and more were scattered across the floor.
The owner, Harvey Walsh, saw Tristan Grayson and hurried over. "Young Master Grayson, you’re finally here."
"You can get back to your work. I’ll handle him."
"Okay, I’ll be on my way then."
"Mm."
Once the owner was gone, Tristan Grayson walked over, bent down, and snatched the half-empty bottle from Cassian’s hand.
The sudden loss of the bottle in his hand startled Cassian Jennings awake.
His eyes were hazy as he glanced at Tristan and sneered mockingly. "Tristan, you’re here. Come on, have a drink with me!"
"Still drinking? Cassian Jennings, are you trying to drink yourself to death?" Tristan Grayson roared, smashing the bottle on the ground.
Cassian Jennings scoffed and sat up. "If I really did drink myself to death, at least it would be better than the misery of living."
A conflicted expression crossed Tristan Grayson’s face as he listened. "Cassian Jennings, I know how you feel right now. But you have to pull yourself together for the Jennings Family’s sake. Tonight, I’ll drink with you. But come tomorrow, you have to sober up and get your head straight!"
Cassian Jennings let out a cold laugh. He half-rose to grab the last two unopened beer bottles from the table. After opening them, he tossed one to Tristan Grayson, then leaned back against the sofa and took a long drink from his own.
Looking at Cassian in this state, Tristan Grayson felt that besides drinking with him, there was nothing he could do. He had no idea how to even begin to reason with him.
’Should he tell him to let go? To forget Amelia Avery? Or that they were never meant to be?’
’Sigh. He understood how Cassian was feeling right now. That’s why he couldn’t bring himself to say any of those words of advice.’
’After all, hadn’t there been a time when he, too, had lost all reason to live?’
Thinking of the unpleasant incident with Mika Summers today, he gave a self-deprecating smile, tilted his head back, and took two large gulps from his bottle.
They were still drinking in the dead of night when Ian Shaw showed up. The three men drank and talked for the rest of the night...
