Chapter 156: Adventure to the sun

No one knew where Ray was going; for days he would have just disappeared, returning in near-death conditions, getting better, and leaving again.

A temporary peace was between the so-called savior group and the military, yet the tension was in the air. At any moment it could have ended in a full exchange fight.

"I have some business with the blood angel."

Marian offered some tea to the red hair girl sitting in front of her, it was the third time that an immortal came after him, and he was no where to be found, Aria and Scarlet wanted their promised weapons and armor, and now Cindi.

"He’s not her—"

"I know he’s not here, but he will be, so I would rather have my time with him. Alone." Cindi put the cup back on the table; her butlers were on duty as always.

Resisting her seemed pointless so Marian picked up her phone and just left for their headquarters in the underground, the absence of Ray put a bitter taste in her mouth, they barely even had sex anymore.

"T, where is he going?" Cindi asked with curiosity; she couldn’t sense him most of the time.

"I don’t know my lady, but he’s different." He stepped closer and wrote on a paper, "A puppet of a firstborn."

"How naive you are; you are dismissed."

After ten minutes, the door opened with a messed-up Ray entering the main hall of the house; seeing Cindi, he raised an eyebrow and sat in front of her.

"Is it safe for you in here?" Picking up a bottle of water, Ray drank all of it in one go. freewebnovёl.ƈom

Cindi observed him closely, yet nothing about his looks told her where he was. "For now, care to explain what you are doing after taking that many resources?"

"Really? You don’t know of all people?"

"Where is your training?" She played with the cup in her hand. "It has been three months since the negotiations. I had zero progress on making a counter to the artifact, and here you are, wasting time in god knows what training."

With a tired expression, Ray sat next to her. "I will kill him no matter what."

"This smell..." Cindi touched his wrist, yet with her normal touch, he didn’t burn. "Are you trying to make yourself fire-resistant?" The smell of burned flesh covered her nose as she got closer.

Ray wanted to break free, but the grip tightened. Slowly the temperature of her skin increased; after seconds his hands started to burn. "480C..." She thought for a second before yelling with disbelief, "You are not training on earth!"

"A day on Earth is equal to 50 days on Mercury; it has a lower gravity too, your speed will increase too, but it has no lifeforms or anything..." The idea was brilliant, but only a stupid person would have done that. "What did you eat? There are so many questions."

Ray sighed heavily; his main objective was to pass by the limits of his pure magic as fast as possible, but after going there and sensing the awkward feeling of the bare planet, he decided to stay there for his training. From the heat most of the days his body vaporized, but after nearly 37 years on there, his blood magic finally changed his body to be more versatile.

"You don’t want to know what I ate. My main purpose was to adjust my body to more extreme environments," Ray said casually.

"It’s strange that it worked," Cindi raised an eyebrow. In places where time passed differently than on earth, they usually sent two people together; the mind pressure of the unknown and being alone made some people go crazy. "Anyway, Aria from the goddess squad asked for her weapon that you promised; instead of her, I’m going to help you."

"It’s ok, we can go in a few hours; afterwards I need your help on something too." Remembering their small encounter, Ray said with an enthusiastic tone, "And there are way more things we can do now."

"Bet, so when will you be ready to start?" Her observed the mess that Rat was, first of all he needed a shower, after that maybe massage.

"Now." Ray picked up some more water bottles, drinking all in one go. "Are you gonna help your enemies get stronger tho?"

Cindi laughed, "More like, I’m going to learn your method and craft for my whole squad."

"Yeah, that’s not gonna work so easily." Any attempt to mimic his method without the essence of the world needed way more resources than what he worked with.

"At least take a shower."

Ignoring her words, Ray got to work. His way to go to space was small portals that he had made from Earth to Mercury. At first the planet didn’t let him do anything, but as his magic got used to it, his traveling got easier over time. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Unlike normal portals, his portals had blood teeth around them, giving out an enormous aura.

"This will take us to Mercury; after that it is on you."

Clapping for his idea, Cindi analyzed the portal’s structure; instead of normal teleportation, it was more like a tunnel that landed them on different spots, with magic fading away in space. This way he could maintain the way he had created.

"Oh, and don’t wear that." Ray pointed at her white suit; in the mix with her red hair, she looked like a goddess, but fabric could burn and be a burden.

Cindi walked toward the portal. "My clothes are tailor-made for high temperatures."

Following her into the mouth, their bodies teleported 100 times before reaching their target.

The sun in its glory stood in front of them with a small grey planet behind them. An orb of flames surrounded them as they flew toward the yellow star.

"I can’t enter the star itself; no human on earth can. Hope you can do it near the surface." The gravitational pull of a star was behind the powers of any immortal.

With a smile, he remembered his previous attempt, "More than enough." He hadn’t spent his time on mercury for nothing.

A dark light emitted from his body, with the magic of devils running through his veins. "Time to test my new limits."
