Chapter 44: Three Possibility Flags Discoveries

[Name: Jack Trade

Current Information: A student recommended by the first-year principal, Bard. Part of the underworld gang, Skull Snake. A Circle One Sorcerer and highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat. From Dennis Turner.

What I know: The sponsor behind Jack is definitely the people who used Fergus to probe Aster’s true strength. A possibility of being a Ruiner. The role of his group is probably a spy and a smuggler.

Name of the unknown group? Dunno. The trash author didn’t mention it. Calling them the Target Organization for now.]

Cillian quietly gazed at the screen in front of him, which he had taken note of regarding what he knew about Jack Trade.

There was no need to even second-guess that the ancient group, Target Organization, that was mentioned in the novel, was striking yet again, this time, targeting Aster Densworth.

It seemed that using Fergus to probe Aster was the first step.

Now that their goals are achieved and confirming that he possessed the Five Swords of Chaos, Target Org seems to be taking it to the next step.

’They are going to get his Piece, huh?’

Cillian glanced at Aster from the crowd inside the Class 1-A classroom.

[Death Flag]

The flag above Aster’s head was also indicated as a death flag, but he wasn’t even looking in his direction, nor were they interacting at the moment.

The red flag that Cillian saw at his club a few days ago was gone, becoming the same death flag above his head.

Cillian ignored it for now, knowing it was probably related to the hunt that the Target Organization was planning and preparing.

Or it might be him who made Aster’s flag become a death flag because of Cillian’s very own death flag.

Who knows, actually.

But with this, Cillian discovers another thing about his flag.

Chatter—!

Cillian avoided Aster for now and listened to the whispers from the other part of the classroom.

There are currently two groups of Class 1-A.

"The flag! Who the fuck has it?!"

Baron cursed while thumping his fists on his table, while being surrounded by other outcasts. These were the uncooperative but capable individuals who tried to overpower Class 1-G on their own, which failed miserably.

This was the first group led by Fred and Baron.

The second group is the main group, which is led by Willow and Aster, who were keeping a close eye on the outcasts group. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Judging by how these outcasts moved, they were trying to find the Bearer within Aster’s group, who seemed to be someone hiding behind their backs.

Unfortunately for them, the flag the outcasts group is looking for is safely within Cillian’s pockets.

Clank—!

Cillian thought it was just going to be another normal day until Freya walked through the classroom

Her face didn’t say anything good.

Aster’s monitor entered shortly after and began to watch Aster closely nearby.

Freya’s green gem-like eyes flashed with danger, making Cillian shiver nervously.

Obviously, the matter involving Caspin still needed to be taken care of.

’Am I going to be labeled as a pervert now?’

Cillian mused inwardly, realizing that the reputation he had slowly built would definitely affect him, especially in club-related matters.

Cillian tried to start the conversation, seeing that Freya didn’t stop giving him a look of "you fucked up" and "you do this while I wasn’t watching you".

He had to de-escalate the situation.

"G-good afternoon, Freya."

’Stuttering like a typical idiot.’

Now, he sounded like he did something wrong with that tone, which Cillian immediately gave up on fixing.

’A perverted bully, huh. That’s some nice ring to it.’

"Cillian Sparrow."

Being called up by his full name with that kind of tone that had a mix of force made only Cillian close his eyes and accept the outcome.

"Good afternoon, as well."

’Goodbye to my school life, you mean— wait, what?’

Cillian opened his eyes and glanced at Freya.

"Your face is speaking a lot of things. Yes, you don’t have to worry about the matters with Caspin. She already informed me about it."

Cillian gulped and tilted his head.

’And?’

That’s it?

As if trying to carefully choose her words, Freya let out a tired yawn and blinked her eyes before speaking.

"I get that she’s confused since he had no recollection of what happened before coming to your club or what you did inside. That’s why I investigated along the way here. I found out that you are spotted with her walking through the east wing and leaving the Student Council."

She then paused.

"I’ve observed you for weeks already, and I confidently told her that you are not the person she’s trying to tell me to."

Cillian felt that his ears got blessed by having that kind of impression coming from Freya that he almost teared up.

Freya then continued.

"Even though I did say that, she’s still restless. Caspin still looked like her soul left her body sometimes when she was working today. She also demanded not to see you, Phillip Wyke, and Vin Dysel for the meantime. You must understand her feelings."

’Soul leaving her body?’

Cillian imagined Caspin’s soul leaving in a funny way before Freya’s words snapped him back to reality.

Cillian could tell that Caspin had handled the matter very maturely and listened to Freya’s words, even though she was doubtful.

Her demand not to see their crew was also understandable.

"You can tell that her demand will be followed. Thank you, Freya."

"No problem, but this talk is not yet done, Cillian. You’ll have to tell me the full details on your side later."

Cillian nodded.

There was no way Freya would just let this matter go when there were so many inconsistencies regarding Caspin’s words, especially the part where she lost her memory upon arriving at the club and only remembered the moment someone knocked on the council’s door.

"Lunch?"

Cillian asked.

"Your treat."

"Okay."

Freya smiled softly, and Cillian couldn’t help but smile back. As he shifted his gaze forward, he caught someone from Aster’s group watching them with an intense gaze.

[Red Flag]

’What now?’

Cillian watched Freya’s younger brother quietly watching from a spot where he thought no one could see him.

But that stare alone and the way he looked at them was enough for Cillian to feel the dangerous air coming towards him.

’Immediately a red flag, huh.’

After the class had a long talk about what happened in the versioned battlefield, Cillian confirmed three things about the way Possibility Flags shift and change.

The first one is what Cillian knew about the situation or experiences. This mainly affects his own flag.

Information, the current circumstances, or even people putting a target on his back. There was already proof of it when he overheard Jack speaking with someone from the Target Organization.

Second is the surroundings. This can happen to people who are currently in whatever type of danger they are facing, and the flag determines the kind of threat they represent, from white flags to Death Flags. This is what happened to Fred’s group, who attacked the Class 1-G students in the versioned battlefield. It might vary as well.

The third discovery was that others who possessed these Flags could somehow alter his own Flags. It was something similar to the first discovery, except in this case, other people were directly changing his Flag status, and vice versa.

For example, Aster had a red flag that suddenly turned into a death flag since Cillian, who possessed such flags, was there.

That’s why it was very similar to the first discovery, if not for a tiny detail which Cillian clearly observed.

Jack didn’t have any raised flags above his head when he was spilling out secrets.

That’s why the only clue he could think of right now that supported the discovery three claim is Cillian’s Death Flag influence on Aster’s flag.

It’s actually the other way around this time.

’You’re very complicated to learn, my system.’ freewēbnoveℓ.com

Cillian mused inwardly as he watched the screen that only he could see.

Then he chuckled.

’I don’t dislike it, though. I liked learning things a lot.’

The system that was there to the very beginning of his transmigration had silently watched over him, even saving his life once.

This made him think about that lone figure he saw, probably the one who created, or at least engineered, the system for him.

Who knows who that lone figure is at all when Cillian didn’t have any clue about it at all.

It was useless to even point fingers for now.

"Buddy, huh."

Cillian muttered as he couldn’t help but think about the time that lone figure knew about his real name and called him buddy.
