Chapter 433: Trust
Lyrian squinted his eyes slightly. The killing intent from the man was enough to make his skin tingle slightly in irritation.
’If he won’t let a lair in, I’ll have to prove that I am not lying.’ He mused at that moment.
"Ironbirth, do you know what Mind Controlling Gu’s are?" Lyrian asked, seeming unfazed by the elder’s great magic prowess.
Melles’ face tilted slightly, but erratically, "Huh? Of course, I do. They are given to those from the upper realm..."
"And the reason behind that is because they haven’t been indoctrinated of this sect’s morals and goals from a young age." Lyrian retorted.
This didn’t sound great, but it was the truth so Melles had to accept it.
"Yes... but how does that relate? Are you telling me you have a Mind Controlling Gu inside of you?"
"That is precisely what I am saying."
"How am I to believe you? You could implant one yourself too..."
Lyrian exhaled, "Check for yourself. You have my permission to cut open my chest and see if there is a Mind Controlling Gu inside of me. That way, I can’t plant anything... and you know I’m telling the truth."
Melles furrowed his brows at that moment, ’When he knows I can just kill him easily instead, why give me such an opportunity? Could it be true... is he not lying?’ He was slightly puzzled.
’This is the only way. If I try to fight this man, even with all of my strength, and all of my creatures, I will get decimated.’ Lyrian solemnly thought this to himself.
’I have to risk it and trust that this man is actually loyal. No other choice stands before me.’
Melles began to walk forward at that moment.
However, at that exact second, another was summoned before him.
"Wait!" It was an eloquent-looking young man, no older than 25. Clad in shining white armor, he raised his hand up to Melles.
Melles stopped, furrowing his brows, "What are you doing here, Astra?"
"You can not trust this... brat." The young man addressed as ’Astra’ exclaimed, a disdainful noise under his breath.
"I can make my own judgments," Melles exclaimed, shrugging past the young man.
Lyrian observed this new figure and quickly scanned him. He was at an immense op of 47.
Still, even with all of his creatures, Lyrian knew that if he and Astra fought 1000 times, he wouldn’t win a single battle.
At that moment, Astra turned and grabbed Melles’ shoulder, stopping the large man.
"As the Four Mythical Guards, we all protect Lord Head Elder," Astra said with a serious look in his eyes. "You alone don’t get to decide who goes in, and who comes out. You will not jeopardize his greatness!"
Melles paused for a moment, "I thought it was my turn to guard his chamber... leave this place. You can return once my time is over. Your guarding job is next after mine anyway. Until then, I will make whatever necessary steps that need to be taken."
He shrugged Astra’s hand off of his shoulder as he turned and continued moving toward Lyrian.
Astra paused for a split second and then glared at Lyrian with eyes seething full of hatred.
’Kill skin that boy alive the moment he steps back out of that chamber.’ Astra mused. He was a young man with a keen ability to detect the presence of beings, so he had already seen the Gu inside of Lyrian.
However, he wasn’t going to say anything, since he wanted to see that rat go through as much pain as he could give him.
"Fine. I shall see what is in your chest." Melles exclaimed, nearing Lyrian.
Lyrian pointed at a certain spot on his torso, "Right here."
As soon as he said this, Melles took out a small knife from his waist, and slowly dug it deep within Lyrian’s chest.
Lyrian’s breathing turned slightly ragged for a split second, his facial expressions twitching as they changed.
However, gritting his teeth, he got through it with fair ease.
He had gone through far worse already at his age.
"Stop." Lyrian said, "Right there."
Melles stopped his blade and then turned it slightly to make the wound open up.
He bent down slightly, as blood gushed out of Lyrian’s wound. Looking into it, he noticed a small Gu throbbing inside of the boy.
At once, he took his blade out. Thankfully, the guy wasn’t very deep inside, so the injury wasn’t very harmful.
Melles let out a solemn sigh, "Here." He flicked a small glass vial of red liquid to the boy.
Turning, he began to walk away. With his eyes closed, he said,
"You do not kill my comrade, but rather, defend yourself against his attacks. You do not lie about coming from the upper realm. You say words of hurt to my realm, yet have been taught to say such things by the way of nature itself."
He paused for a long time, "I deem you worthy of my trust." freewebnøvel.coɱ
With that, Lyrian drank the small healing elixir, and a warm feeling surrounded and body and his wound closed up slightly.
He summoned Garmr, walking forward slowly toward the chamber door.
Melles disappeared from Lyrian’s sight, as he made it to the door at last.
Garmr pushed the double stone doors with his snout, and as they opened an extremely bright, beautiful pink aura burst out of the inside.
Lyrian’s eyes were wide open as Garmr slowly made his way into the room.
The chamber itself was a ginormous tunnel of over 1000 feet in depth. It stretched 500 feet up from where he stood, and 500 feet down.
It was over 500 feet from where he stood to the other side of this circular tunnel.
On the sides, some ledges extended 10 feet out from the walls, with rope railings blocking off the direct fall.
But... what made this room so amazing as the enormous pink crystal that floated beautifully in the center of the room.
It was held up by nothing except for pure natural magic, and was smooth and cut. freēwebnovel.com
There was no griddiness or roughness to it, similar to a type of quartz.
Yet, its pink color gave it a different sort of allure. A mesmerizing allure.
Even Lyrian couldn’t help but gasp slightly in accident at the sight of the thing.
Another thing he noticed was a man sitting directly below the crystal.
As if gravity itself had shifted, this man’s bottom was stuck onto the bottom of the crystal.
But it was clear to see that this was because the most mana left the Heartstone from its top and from its bottom.
So, this force allowed that man to stick there.
Lyrian smirked, "Then... that leaves only one place for me."
He allowed Garmr to return to his shadow and unleashed Tao, flying up to the very top of the crystal.
He sat down tight at the flat top of the crystal. feeling an immense pressure surge through his entire spine and body.
At once, he felt his mana being sapped away from him.
But, he closed his eyes and activated his cultivation technique as fast as possible.
Cerberus unleashed from Lyrian’s soul, diving straight into the Heartstone.
At once, the Heartstone began to absorb all of Cerberus’ Demonic Mana...
