Chapter 421: Slaughter
"Wha-" A large, bulky guard abruptly awoke from something hitting his face. free𝑤ebnovel.com
He looked around and then looked at what lay on his head.
Small chunks of a whitish, pink substance.
He reached for it, puzzled, and looked at it in his hand. As soon as he did, his eyes expanded in shock.
Without hesitation, this guard pulled a small string that was hanging from the top of the post ceiling.
As he did, a bell suddenly began to ring from post to post.
It awakened all of the guards from the nearby area, and also the entire area of Dark Lands around the 3-mile radius of Lyrian.
Fam shook in fear, staring at Lyrian and not knowing what to do.
As Lyrian stepped out of the tent, he stared at the hundreds of workers who began to hurry out of their homes and come outside in a hurry.
The ringing from the different posts was ear-piercingly loud, so it wasn’t a surprise that everyone had awoken.
They were confused and scared, but still curious enough to leave the fake safety of their homes.
"What’s going on!?"
Random workers began to converse with each other in confusion.
"I don’t know, but these bells haven’t sounded in years!"
"Bad, this is bad! Last time the bells rang like this, hundreds of workers were taken to be executed!"
At that moment, the guard quickly jumped off of their posts and ran toward the post near Lyrian.
"What happened!?" A guard who had already come nearby shouted to the guard who rang the bell.
"A chunk of brain! A chunk of brain landed on me! This is serious, find the rebel!"
It was clear to Lyrian that they didn’t take things like this lightly.
As more and more guards arrived near the area, it was clear to see after looking around a little bit that the culprit was the valiantly standing young man who was drenched in blood.
The other workers seemed to be a bit more cautious, but Lyrian stood outside without a hint of fear, standing out like a sore thumb.
Guards ran toward him, quickly noticing the pile of dead bodies behind him in the tent.
"Jeols body..." One of the guards said.
"Che! So that guy finally got killed huh?" Another joked.
Fam stood up out of nowhere as he heard this. These words seemed to push him over some sort of line.
"Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves!?" He suddenly yelled from where he stood.
The 10+ guards looked at him with confused faces, "Who the hell is this fatty?"
Tears and snot began to pour down his face as he continued, "You’re supposed to be guards right!? If you knew what this evil man was doing, why didn’t you stop him!?"
Fam expected a short pause after this but was replied to without hesitation by one of the guards.
"What!? This newbie pig doesn’t seem to understand the rules. He dares speak back to us?"
Another guard, a more older one, stepped forward, "Listen up, porkchop. We aren’t guarding you; we are guarding the institute. You are nothing more than dirt to us. Slaves that do the work for our sect."
Fam gasped slightly on hearing this. He didn’t know what to say, already having put himself in a tough situation.
"I would be lying If I said I didn’t care what Jeol said over the years." A guard suddenly exclaimed. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Fam’s eyes widened with a bit of hope, "T-then, why!?"
"Shut up fatass, let him finish." A guard said with a smirk on his face.
"No... I cared about what he did because I liked it." The guard maliciously smiled through his teeth.
"W-what?" Fam was in utter disbelief.
"Of course, I did! It was a great way to not only keep your slaves in check and make you obedient but also a way to torture you. That’s my entire entertainment for the day, why wouldn’t I like that?"
Fam paused for a long time on hearing this. He felt a flurry of horrible, anguished, hopeless, despair-filled emotions.
His feet gave in, forcing him to fall to his knees.
Lyrian calmly looked back at Fam and then turned to face the guards again.
"Boy! You will be executed for your actions! Do you understand!? Now come here!"
The guards began to approach.
’They are too low ranking. I need someone higher in rank to come and see my case.’
Lyrian mused as he enhanced his feet and dashed forward.
Enhancing his fists, he swung it with full force into the large belly of the guard closest to him.
With a loud bang, the guard’s stomach was obliterated. A large hole was left where his stomach once existed.
Lyrian swiftly retracted his fist, allowing the guard to fall face flat onto the floor.
Lyrian faced the rest of the guards and clenched his teeth.
*Bang*
Another one down.
*Bang*
*Bang*
*Bang*
*Bang*
...
The final guard was left standing, only one of his feet being blown to a thousand pieces.
The workers were shocked at what they were seeing. Fam couldn’t believe his eyes.
Lyrian calmly walked forward, as the guard’s pupils shook with overwhelming fear.
’When is she going to come!? She should have been alerted by the bell!’ He thought to himself.
At that moment, Lyrian pushed his feet into the ground and lunged forward.
Enhancing his fist, he swung at the final guard’s face.
Time felt as though it slowed down at that precise moment, as a series of quick footsteps from afar rapidly approached.
With the sound of a whip cracking in the air, Lyrian’s hand was suddenly latched onto and halted in place.
Lyrian quickly looked to the side, where the whip was coming from.
He saw the same woman who had brought him there on the first day.
The man, who was curled up slightly, put his hands down and saw what was happening in pure shock and relief.
"Ha... hahaha! Yes! Kill him, lady Dustfey!" He eagerly exclaimed.
