Chapter 24: Mirror Of The Split Soul
The gentle breeze on the high terrace continued to ruffle Nyx’s dark hair as the silence settled between them.
The warmth from her genuine smile still lingered in the air, softening the sharp, gothic edges of Lucifer’s hidden mansion.
Lucien took a breath, letting his gaze drift from her face back down to the towns view below.
The brief moment of vulnerability was comforting, but his mind was already shifting back to the chess board of his current reality.
He was a transmigrator who had just survived a chaotic day, his core was a volatile mix of Priest light and Dominion darkness, and he had a system that makes him bed women and he actually loves it, well he has his own problems to solve.
"Nyx," Lucien began, breaking the silence as his red and blue eyes sharpened. "There’s a glaring problem we need to address."
"Tomorrow was supposed to be my very first day at the Holy Academy. Attending that place is critical for my cover and my immediate plans.
But at the same time, I need to make it to the Dominion Academy’s entrance exams. How am I supposed to be in two completely rival territories at once without triggering a holy war or getting executed on sight?" He questioned.
Nyx’s genuine smile slowly shifted back into her familiar, clever smirk. She leaned back against the stone balustrade, crossing her arms as her golden eyes gleamed with absolute amusement.
"I wondered when you were going to realize the flaw in your schedule, Luce," she purred, her voice dripping with playful malice.
"The Holy Academy and the Dominion Academy are separated by massive dimensional barriers and a mutual hatred. If you try to sneak out of the holy sector during orientation, their inquisitors will brand you a defector before you even cross the border."
"Which is why I’m asking you," Lucien countered, stepping a fraction closer, his eyes locking onto hers with a dominant, unyielding intensity. "You brought me here. I assume you didn’t do it just to watch me get hunted down by the Church on day one."
"Of course not," Nyx laughed softly, the shadows around her gown swirling with her mood.
"In fact, the solution is already right in front of you. You are currently standing in my father’s mansion. And as the master of this estate, I have access to many specific artifacts that Lucifer left behind before his disappearance."
Lucien raised an eyebrow, his interest instantly piqued. "What artifacts?"
"There’s one ’Mirror of the Split Soul’," Nyx explained, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.
"It’s a high-tier primordial tool currently kept in the mansion’s vault, well I already have the powers so I don’t need it if you were to ask why I don’t use it. It doesn’t just create a simple illusion or a weak shadow clone. It literally splits your current essence into two perfectly synchronized, physical manifestations."
She walked over to him, her sharp, clean-nailed finger lightly tapping the center of his chest, right where his fractured mana core resided.
"Think about it, Lucien. Your core is already a freak anomaly, you have the pure, light mana of a mid-stage Arch-Priest, and a mid transcendent Dominion, so you are strong enough. If you use the mirror, you can split those two essences cleanly."
Lucien’s eyes widened slightly as the sheer brilliance of the strategy clicked into place. "A dual existence."
"Exactly," Nyx smiled, delighted by how quickly he caught on.
"One body will retain your pure Arch-Priest light, your harmless human appearance, and just enough mana to play the perfect, obedient student at the Divine Academy. No holy inquisitor or high paladin will ever suspect a thing because that body will literally be pure light."
"And the other body?" Lucien asked, a dark, dangerous grin slowly spreading across his face.
"The other body will stay here with me," Nyx purred, her golden eyes flashing.
"It will inherit your fallen side, your villainous side, your volatile devil energy, and your true, ruthless strength. That manifestation will walk right through the front gates of the Dominion Academy and crush their entrance exam without holding back.
The best part? The two bodies share a single mind. Whatever your holy self learns at the Holy Academy, your devil self will know instantly, and vice versa."
Lucien turned the idea over in his head. It was flawless. It didn’t just solve his scheduling conflict, it gave him the ultimate tactical advantage.
He could infiltrate the highest ranks of the Holy Church while simultaneously building his dark empire from within the Dominion.
"A brilliant idea," Lucien murmured, looking at Nyx with genuine approval. He reached out, his hand gently catching her chin, tilting her face up to force her to meet his gaze.
"You really are your father’s daughter, Nyx. Sneaking under the noses of the gods while tearing down their system from the inside... it appeals to me."
Nyx’s breath hitched slightly at his sudden, confident touch, her shadows flaring defensively before settling under the sheer weight of his proximity. She didn’t pull away, her smirk turning soft once more.
"Just make sure you can handle the mental strain of living two lives at once, Lucien," she whispered. "The mirror demands a strong will."
"Don’t worry about my will," Lucien replied smoothly, letting his hand drop as he turned back toward the terrace exit.
"You don’t even know the consequences.’"
"There are consequences? Well it doesn’t surprise me." He said sarcastically.
"Yes. There’s is. Number 1, if your priest side come across anything holy, it affects your dominion side, number 2, if the divine one or the dominion one is knocked out, it affects the other and number 3." She hesitated.
"Go on." He insisted.
"Without the priest side to balance the other, your Dominion side operates on pure, predatory instinct. If they stays split for too long, the dominion starts losing his mind to a ’Sovereign Berserk’ state while the other, will keep encountering thing so holy that could harm both of them." frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Wow this is mind blowing, what’s that sovereign berserk?"
"You becomes a complete villain, dangerously sadistic, hyper-aggressive, and unable to stop himself from tearing his opponents apart limb from limb during exams. If you don’t fuse back with his light side within a strict time limit, the dark clone will completely consume your soul, erasing its humanity forever and turning you into a mindless monster."
"I know this is like a suicide mission but, well have to do it it’s the only way, and trust me I can handle myself more than anyone else." Seeing that he still wanted to go further with the plan she nodded. "Let’s go to the vault. I have an academy to go, and an exam to break."
