Chapter 186: Arriving Back Home

I nodded to Doctor Kai, signaling that it was fine for him to leave us alone now. The doctor seemed a little worried about me, but he decided to take his leave anyways.

“Shin...” I called Shin’s name softly as I came to stand in front of him. freewebnσvel.cѳm

“How was the ride?” Shin asked.

“It was terrible...but I made it...” I replied honestly. freeweɓnøvel.com

Shin laughed quite loudly at my truthful response. I was sure that he was expecting that. Although I did complain, this much hardship was nothing compared to my old life. He probably didn’t know or had forgotten that I came from this small town, and I lived pretty much in a hut in the forest. I never rode on or owned a horse, so I travelled by foot. Life wasn’t easy for me then...and it definitely wasn’t easy for me now either...

“Ready to surprise our prince?” Shin asked after he stopped laughing.

Oh right...I need to meet Ren at some point...

“Not really...” I replied honestly while feeling surprised that my voice didn’t shake.

“I’m not looking forward to it either...but you do realize that I can’t let you spend the night here, right?” Shin said as he gestured to the random tents around us.

“Huh?” I reacted in confusion.

“My Lady...in case you haven’t realized, we’re all men here. You’re the only woman on this war march. The entire medical team are men as well. You honestly did not think that you would be spending the night in the same tent as them now, did you?” Shin said as he narrowed his eyes at me.

Oh right...that honestly had slipped my mind. Although I did sleep in the wagon along with the other doctors that was quite different than spending the night in a tent with them. My sleeping arrangement on this trip was clearly not something that was top-of-mind for me.

“Oh...right. Then where will I be sleeping?” I asked curiously.

“With Ren...obviously...” Shin replied like it was supposed to be obvious.

“Huh?! Wait...a moment...” I gasped in shock.

“Don’t tell me that you didn’t figure this out already?” Shin asked sarcastically.

“But...I’m going to be...with Ren...” I muttered.

I would have felt overjoyed if we weren’t in this situation. Meeting Ren was something that I dreaded. Now, not only will I meet him but I’m going to have to spend the night with him? I covered my face with both my hands, and I felt like I was about to lose my mind. Is there really no way that I can hide from him?

“No one is going to baby sit you here. Well, the idea is for Ren to take on that job anyways...” Shin said with an evil chuckle.

“I don’t want to be stuck with Ren when he’s mad...you know...” I admitted softly.

“Neither do I. Good luck, My Lady,” Shin said before smiling widely at me.

I followed Shin as he led me through endless rows of tents of various sizes while he explained the layout and arrangement to me. Basically, the medical team and everyone else who couldn’t fight were located almost at the back of the settlement. The furthest back were some soldiers that acted as the rear guard. Their job is to protect us if some enemy soldier decides to attack from behind.

“The mid-section is the largest and that is where the soldier camps are,” Shin explained.

“What about Ren’s tent?” I asked.

“In the most secured place. Right in the middle of the mid-section. Close to his tents are tents for the generals to meet and discuss the strategy for the war as well. It’s like the head quarters for this army,” Shin calmly explained.

“I see. That’s good...” I said, feeling better that Ren would be in a safe location.

“With that said, you will be safe if you stay there as well. The medical camp is safe too, to be honest,” Shin said as he tried to comfort me.

“Thank you. I’ll still help out at the medical camp. That is why I came here after all,” I said determinedly.

“Although the location of Ren’s tent is safest...he will only be safe if he stays inside his tent. You do realize that right? That is the hardest part...” Shin said, sounding tired and drained of energy.

“Haha...I see...” I couldn’t help laughing at Shin’s tired face as he said that.

“Honestly, keeping Ren safe is giving me a much worst headache than this whole war affair...” Shin admitted with a loud sigh.

After a while of walking, Shin halted before he gestured with his hand to a large tent. This must be Ren’s tent. My whole body froze, and my face felt cold. It had finally arrived...the moment that I dreaded all this time...

What should I do? My body won’t even move anymore...I’m so scared...

I’m about to meet Ren.

I wanted to see him so badly. It’s been a few days since I last saw him and spent time with him. Honesty, I miss him a lot and couldn’t wait to spend time with him again. However, I knew that any peaceful time that we could enjoy together would come only after Ren calmed down from the shock of finding me here.

Ren...he’s going to be so mad at me for this. Should I figure out how to make him feel better before I meet him? Would that be better?

What should I say when I finally came face to face with him?

The more I thought about it, the more difficult it was to move my body. I was standing there glued to the spot as I considered what to do. What was the best option for me right now?

“You’re not just going to let me waltz in there alone, are you?” I asked as I turned to stare at Shin.

“I guess I shouldn’t do that. More like...I wish I could, but I can’t do that. I have to be there to tell Ren that this was the emperor’s orders after all,” Shin said with a regrettable look on his face.

I can’t believe he was seriously thinking of sending me in there alone to greet Ren. Like, what am I supposed to say?
