Chapter 843: Dominance [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]

Asher stood a few meters away from the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin, which didn’t seem to have any intention of moving anytime soon.

Asher raised a hand, his Astra energy surging outward ever so calmly as it encased a fire truck at the side of the road. Without missing a beat, he hurled it toward the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin with tremendous force, the enormous vehicle cutting through the air as though it weighed absolutely nothing under his control.

The Shadow Assassin, seeing the immense truck close the distance, didn’t react physically. Instead, the shadow beneath its body shifted as a huge hand made entirely of darkness emerged and effortlessly caught the truck before hurling it back toward Asher with astonishing ease.

Seeing this, Asher smiled. He simply willed it, and the truck halted in midair before he immediately threw it back toward the Shadow Assassin through Astra telekinesis, causing the already battered vehicle to whistle violently through the atmosphere once again.

Seeing the truck rapidly closing the distance again, the shadowy hand moved. But this time, it didn’t catch the fire truck. Instead, it slapped it aside as though it were a paper ball with no weight whatsoever. With a thunderous boom, the fire truck crumpled upon impact, slammed into a nearby bungalow, and immediately exploded outward in a torrent of flames, smoke, burning debris, and swirling dust that briefly engulfed the surrounding street.

The shadow hand immediately dissipated as, in the next moment, tendrils of darkness began to rise, intertwining with one another as various wolf-like creatures formed. Their numbers reached into the tens, with one among them seemingly possessing the strength of a Rank 6 Shadow Assassin.

Instantly, they all blurred forward as they rapidly closed the distance between themselves and Asher. But Asher didn’t even spare them a glance. He simply twisted the very point in space where they existed, and they all exploded outward into dissipating showers of darkness and shadow, vanishing before they could even come close enough to threaten him.

Asher sighed as he slowly shook his head. He had no time to play these silly games with this Rank 7 Shadow Assassin. freёwebnoѵel.com

"If you won’t come to me, then I would come to you," he spoke with a smirk resting on his face.

The moment those words left his lips, he appeared before the Shadow Assassin like a ghost. His leg, cloaked in brilliant light, swept toward its head with lethal precision and maddening force. The Shadow Assassin was caught off guard, having never expected Asher to close the distance so suddenly. Besides that, it could have phased through Asher’s physical attack, but with Asher cloaking his leg in Light at the very last moment, phasing through it was no longer possible.

The Shadow Assassin’s reflexes immediately kicked in as it raised an arm to block. With bone-rattling force, Asher’s foot slammed into the Shadow Assassin’s forearm. The impact tore the entire arm apart as though it had been made of wet paper, while the tremendous force hurled the Shadow Assassin backward in a blur of darkness before it crashed into what appeared to be a parking garage, sending chunks of concrete and shattered glass flying in every direction.

As Asher prepared to give chase, numerous cars suddenly shot outward like bullets through the huge opening created by the Shadow Assassin’s collision with the building. Asher merely smirked at the attack. Compressing space itself into razor-sharp cresent-shape attacks, he effortlessly cleaved every car that came within range cleanly in half, the mangled wreckage crashing harmlessly onto the surrounding streets. freeweɓnøvel.com

Without missing a beat, Asher shot forward as he entered the building itself. But the moment he stepped inside, all his sense saw was a dagger racing toward the back of his neck, as the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin had hidden beside the entrance in wait, patiently anticipating his arrival.

But just as the dagger was about to pierce Asher’s neck, space flickered as both Asher and the Rank 7 being instantly swapped places. The moment they switched positions, Asher unleashed a devastating punch directly into the Shadow Assassin’s head with explosive force. The sheer power behind the strike blasted the Shadow Assassin forward.

Its body tore through one skyscraper before bursting out through another, leaving collapsing buildings in its wake. It finally crashed into an airplane before coming to a stop. Instantly rising to its feet, it grabbed the airplane by one wing and hurled it toward Asher with astonishing strength, the aircraft spinning wildly as it descended.

Asher grinned at the incoming aircraft. Bursting forward, he landed atop its nose before twisting his body and effortlessly throwing the airplane back toward the Shadow Assassin with even greater force than before. The Shadow Assassin simply raised a hand as crescent-shaped shadows materialized around it, instantly slicing the airplane into countless fragments of twisted metal and shattered alloys that rained across the ruined city.

But before the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin could even blink, it saw Asher swinging an enormous utility pole at it with the sheer momentum of a collapsing tower. The collision was utterly catastrophic as the Shadow Assassin was launched sideways, smashing into yet another building. Asher immediately turned, drew his arm backward, and hurled the massive utility pole as though it were nothing more than a giant javelin.

The pole tore through building after building, shattering walls and glass alike. But just as it was about to impale the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin, the being simply phased through it.

Its pitch-black eyes snapped toward Asher’s position as tendrils of darkness surged from its hand, lashing toward him like monstrous whips. Asher simply blurred out of the way, effortlessly dodging each shadow whip with flawless footwork, every step perfectly measured as he advanced without slowing down.

With a thought, a whip of his own formed within his grasp, forged entirely from his Light Affinity. He cracked it forward, and with unbelievable sharpness, an entire building was instantly split cleanly in half before collapsing sideways. But it wasn’t only the building that had been bisected, the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin had been cleaved apart as well, its two halves separating cleanly before beginning to dissolve.

Yet in the very next instant, shadowy tendrils erupted from both halves of its body, stitching it back together into a single whole. The Rank 7 Shadow Assassin immediately attempted to merge into a nearby shadow, but before it could do so, Asher’s light whip wrapped tightly around its waist. Without missing a beat, Asher flung the Rank 7 Shadow Assassin aside, and with cataclysmic force, it crashed into yet another building, flattening several walls before finally coming to a stop.

The Shadow Assassin was confused. It was a Rank 7 being. How was it being dominated so effortlessly by this human standing before it?

Shadows twisted around it as they formed countless shadow strings, each intertwining with the others until they formed a massive grid of dark strings. Without hesitation, it launched the deadly construct toward the approaching Asher. Seeing the incoming attack, Asher simply teleported behind it, instantly appearing before the Shadow Assassin then drove his fist upward. His knuckles slammed into its jaw with thunderous impact.

The Rank 7 Shadow Assassin rocketed upward as its head snapped violently backward. Its body tore through floor after floor as it ascended into the air. Bricks shattered apart, concrete burst into fragments, while windows and glass panels exploded into countless glittering shards, scattering throughout the skyline.

Asher calmly walked out of the building, casually taking a bite from an apple he had picked up from inside, as though the destruction surrounding him had nothing to do with him.

The next moment, he watched as the Shadow Assassin divided itself into three separate bodies, each one possessing the might of a Rank 7 being as they stood silently upon the rooftop of the building they occupied, staring directly at Asher without the slightest trace of fear.

Asher casually tossed the apple core over his shoulder as he met the gaze of the three Rank 7 Shadow Assassins, his purple eyes remaining as calm as ever despite the numbers before him.

The very next instant, Asher’s senses immediately flickered as another figure appeared at that exact moment. The newcomer possessed golden hair and equally golden eyes, his fist already hurtling toward the Shadow Assassin’s true body with explosive force, the timing of his attack almost perfect.

It was Isaac Wrath Chillstorm.

He had been watching the battle from a distance, carefully waiting for the perfect opportunity to intervene, and now he had finally moved in for the kill while the Shadow Assassin’s attention remained completely focused on Asher.
