Chapter 50: 50-Under my protection
The games came to an end with Liodnir winning in first place, and with Sheana’s generous donations, she won a chance to have a meal with him.
The beastfolk pulled up and landed the flying ship at the lush compound behind the town. The town was burstling with activity and energy. With the arena situated outside the walls of the town, it drew in businesses and tourists, so the townfolk were busy. frёewebηovel.cѳm
They found a better Inn in Ocov town and prepared to enjoy a meal before getting some rest.
"You can order anything, my treat," Sheana eagerly declared, dangling the bag of golden shards proudly.
"The gold isn’t even yours. How can you be so shameless and claim that you are treating us?" Theren asked.
"The gold was given to me, so now it’s mine. What I do with it is none of your business," she countered. "Right, Nytherael?"
"Yes, of course."
"Careful mate, if you spoil a leech, then it’ll become a bottomless pit that sucks you dry." Zeyron uttered, entering the inn.
Nytherael cast him one unimportant glance and answered, "I can afford it."
"And who exactly invited you here?" Princess Sheana jumped in, seeing as how Zeyron was taking a shot at her. "Didn’t we part ways in Vessharn. We made it clear that we aren’t interested in following your lead. Aren’t you being a leech yourself by sticking to us?"
"Shorty!" Zeyron called through gritted teeth. His veins almost popped out of anger.
Sheana hid behind Nytherael. She knew that Zeyron had no problem attacking her, she was even certain the emperor might have given him permission to handle her and Samahita as he pleased, but Zeyron was afraid of Nytherael and couldn’t act against the fox, so she used Nytherael as her shield.
Nytherael was only so happy to be used. He loathed the way Zeyron carried his weight around and acted like he was above everyone when he was just the emperor’s lap dog. While the team consisted of true royalty.
He and his sister hailed from the prestigious Auryn family that alone puts them above Zeyron by rank and status. Sheana and Samahita were the emperor’s daughters, regardless of the emperor’s orders. They were his superiors.
Princess Aenyra came from the Zhen regal house and was Aeltharion’s brother. She was not only a princess but had an entire tribe of dangerous dragon clan behind her. Defying or bossing her around was out of question.
Rhysandor came from a military background. Yes, he never focused on enlisting into the army or taking over the generation to generation inheritance of the general title in Lioric, but that didn’t mean he was easy to bully.
The only person who was of a humble background without royal bloodline in his veins was Theren. But his purple serpent clan wasn’t to be taken lightly either.
Overall, the one at the bottom of the rank in their midst was the very person acting like he owned the place and all the beastfolk along with it. It annoyed Nytherael greatly.
"My friends are under my protection, and if the emperor has a problem with my choices, then he can personally take it up with me," he said.
He ushered Sheana to the counter where they checked in and got the keys to their rooms.
"You all have fun. I think I’m going to shut my eyes for a while... I’m not feeling quite like myself," he excused himself.
Aenyra and Sheana shared a quick, almost undetectable gaze. One of understanding over a truth that only the two of them knew.
"Yes, you should get some rest. You must be tired," Sheana urged him. ’After losing control and nearly crashing Ocov under your massive power. You must be tired,’ shr thought in her mind.
Nytherael pulled out another bag of shards and handed it to her, his face full of concern, "Incase the shards aren’t enough."
Princess Sheana nodded, her eyes examining the new bag of wealth with greedy eyes. She looked up at Nytherael and felt proud for picking such a rich and generous fox to cling to.
"I will take care of everyone’s needs," she admitted to his face while crossing her fingers on her side.
’With these shards, I’ll be able to enjoy the next few hours by doing everything I’ve always been restricted to do. The others are all rich, they can fend for themselves,’ she thought inwardly.
Nytherael left assured that the beasts he left behind who were far away from home and their normal lives because of him and his mess were taken care of. He had no idea he’d put his trust in a self-centered villainess.
Once he arrived in the room. He examined the small room, the large wooden bed was clean and neatly spread, the pillows seemed new and the quiet too.
The table and two chairs by the window were of good quality. Even the incense burning on the bedside table had a nice, calming smell.
"Not bad," he said. The room was an improvement from the little hut in the illusion and the room and the clay Inn in Vessharn.
After confirming that the room was habitable for him. He placed his luggage on the bed and got to work.
He drew a seal on the door and activated it with his essence before creating a lifelike clone of himself and setting up arrays in the room to ensure no one could enter in his absence.
He also set an alert to inform him in case someone gets past his arrays, which he doubted was possible. Once all the arrangements were complete, he tapped into his shadow and activated his shadow teleportation and instantly disappeared from the inn.
Downstairs, Sheana settled everyone in a private room and ordered their beast meals and essence fruits as a treat for everyone.
They all settled down and enjoyed a calming meal after a beautiful show at the hunt. Unaware that Nytherael wasn’t asleep in his room but has left the establishment.

Nytherael reappeared at Sserath Vein City, in the outskirts of the Abyssal Coil. The city was named after Sseraphis and where Sseraphis’s palace was.
From his knowledge of Sseraphis, he understood that Sserath Vein would be the place the male would call home among his many abodes in the Abyssal Coil.
"I said I’ll chase you until you forgive me. I meant every word, get ready, love, I’m about to chase you so shamelessly, there isn’t an abyss big enough where you can hide your embarrassment."
