Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Youth Should Not Be Wasted in Bed
Nothing good ever came from hearing that sycophantic laugh of Dominic Thorne’s.
"Out with it!"
"Boss, have you ever bought places meant for dates? Like restaurants, movie theaters, amusement parks, that sort of thing?" Dominic Thorne waited expectantly for his reply.
"No!"
Dominic Thorne’s spirits immediately deflated. He and Melody Donovan had been arguing about this very thing after dinner. He had called Kenneth Yates, thinking they were the same kind of people, and had put the call on speaker. Beside him, Melody was about to double over with laughter but managed to hold it in. ’It turns out only I, Dominic Thorne, would do something so outrageous.’
"But I’ve bought hotels, film studios, and shopping malls. Do you need me to buy something for you again?"
Kenneth Yates’s words gave Dominic Thorne a renewed sense of hope. He raised his eyebrows proudly. "Nope! You’re busy, Boss. I’ll let you get back to it!"
Kenneth Yates hung up on Dominic Thorne with a CLICK. ’Always bothering me with such pointless things.’ Dominic put his phone away, suddenly feeling like an emperor. "Ahem! This just proves that *you’re* the one with the twisted mind!"
Melody Donovan rolled her eyes. ’I really don’t get how they think. Is their possessive streak really that strong? They have to buy everything.’
"I want to go home. Take me home!"
"It’s still so early. Why go home?" Dominic Thorne glanced at his watch. It was only two o’clock; the best part of the day was just getting started.
Melody Donovan pouted as she looked at Dominic Thorne’s roguish expression, and it made her laugh. He was like a proud poodle. ’Of course I’m going home to rest. What other entertainment is there? His life is just so colorful, he doesn’t want to waste a single moment on sleep or rest.’
Melody Donovan propped her chin on one hand, giving Dominic Thorne a pitiful look. "What else would we do? Going home to sleep is the best plan!"
"Youth isn’t meant to be wasted in bed."
Hearing his words, Melody Donovan couldn’t help but laugh out loud. ’Wasted in bed? As if he spends any less time there than I do. It’s just that I’m sleeping, while he uses sleep as an excuse for his romantic dalliances. Though they are two completely different things, their nature is worlds apart.’
"What are you laughing at?" Realizing she was mocking him, Dominic Thorne replayed his words in his head but couldn’t find anything wrong with them.
"I’m laughing because your own words just slapped you in the face. You don’t waste time in bed? You probably spend even more time there than I do. So, what do you think youth is now?" Melody Donovan said, covering her mouth as she howled with laughter.
Dominic Thorne turned away, letting out a sharp sound as understanding dawned.
"My words didn’t have that meaning. You’re the one reading too much into it. But if you insist on that interpretation, fine. That ’wasted’ time includes memories of you, too."
Melody Donovan’s face instantly turned red. She had completely forgotten about that time. She smacked her own cheek. ’I can’t believe I fell right into his trap!’
Dominic Thorne looked at her. Her cheeks were bright red, her eyes were darting away, and she was deliberately turning her back to him.
"Hah. Cat got your tongue? You were so talkative just a moment ago. Have you finally grasped the true meaning of youth and decided not to waste it in bed anymore?"
"Dominic Thorne, can you be serious for once?" Melody Donovan snapped, her face darkening with anger. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"I am being serious. I’m discussing the true meaning of life with you. As for what *you’re* thinking... I have no idea..." Dominic Thorne’s nonchalant, ’it-has-nothing-to-do-with-me’ attitude successfully infuriated Melody Donovan. She decided to pretend to be asleep so she wouldn’t have to deal with him anymore. ’What happened to the bright, handsome boy he used to be? How did he turn into this scheming, smoldering little rogue?’
